Great photo Christine. A picture is worth a thousand words!

And sorry courtthib. I have no idea where the King Rooms are located. But I would add your details to room request and emphasize HONEYMOON! As you know they can't guarantee but I feel like they will do all they can.

Thanks! I will definitely give it a try! ;)

Scott MC, I loved Artist Pointe when I ate there a few years ago. All your ADRs sound great. We ate at CRT for breakfast in January. $246 for the five of us for breakfast. I'm trying to remember what I ordered, because it was not so good. My husband had the steak and liked it well enough.

Question about DTD. I've yet to stay anywhere where the bus to DTD wasn't awful. We'll have a car. But because of the construction, I've heard the parking is pretty bad. So I'm wondering if it would be better to just take a cab. That's how we've gone there before. The cheap side of me doesn't want to spend the money. But the part of me that doesn't want to spend a few hours on the bus would rather just shell out the dough for a cab. Is the bus from YC/BC to DTD better, or should I just take a cab?

From the fifth floor, if you want the closest room to the entrance to SAB, you would want the closest room to the elevator since you have to take the elevator to the lobby and then go to SAB. So request "room close to elevator" on your reservation.

Thank you so much Teena! Can't wait to meet you! Hope you are feeling good!
You're the best!:goodvibes

Take a cab! :)
We, along with our visiting friends, made the mistake of taking the bus over this past summer, and it was TORTURE! Our friend offered to pay for a cab for all of us just so he didn't have to endure the bus ride back.
I am already planning to just cab it again this summer when we go from the GF to DD!

Really sad to hear that the afternoon parade at Animal Kingdom will end in May. It's Lily's favorite parade.

Booked a few weeks ago YAY!! Our 1st stay at the BC! Nov 21-30 club level we are Contemporary lovers so this is really outside of our zone!! I feel like this is planning a whole new vacation! I keep saying that I will really miss the monorail and then people say NO YOU WON'T AFTER LAYING YOUR EYES ON THE BEACH CLUB

Yeah!!!! So exciting! :-)

NinjaMom, you're killing me. Yes, that's Chris Evans you captured on the slide...at my request. If I ever found him in SAB, you'd never get me out. No really. Keep charging my Discover...then I'll sell JNPants....then my soul. Then you can send the police after me, but they'll need to bring a crowbar to pry me off of him. Good luck with that. Ahhh! just about 5 months out from a BC and YC stay! :cloud9: I'm having a few minor medical procedures done over the next week (nothing huge, but I HATE hospitals/procedures), and some heavy duty planning is helping. We did our ADRs recently...thought I'd share. On our first day, we check into BC, and whereas we'll be celebrating our anniversary, we have a dinner planned just for us at FLYING FISH CAFE. It brings us back to our beloved BWI (It's some other Disney resort y'all have never heard of). This is JNPants' favorite WDW dining experience and I especially love eating at the bar. There is a Scottish bartender there whose name escapes me, but she's delightful. Hopefully she's there on 8/15 The next day, we dine like Danny Tanner and whats-her-name at CORAL REEF. Hopefully, John Stamos will be in the tank. The next day, we transfer to the YC:boat: and my sister and her BF join us. At their request, we're dining at ARTIST POINT that night. JNPants has never been, and I haven't been since their Pocahontas breakfast (yes, you read that right) that I attended with aforementioned sister when she was about 9. She's currently about to turn 26. Can't wait. There was actually a menu item at AP that made JNPants tear up with delight. Food does it for him. Monday, before the BC/YC meet-up, we're dining for the first time at BIERGARTEN. It looks interesting. Apparently, we could be seated with other diners. We'll see how that goes. :scratching Tuesday, we're having lunch at CAPTAIN'S GRILL. Why? Because we're staying at the YC. Pay attention. It's right downstairs and it's solid. This could change to CREW'S CUP LOUNGE though if the mood strikes. We'll see. On Wednesday, we're having the most expensive breakfast of our lives at CINDERELLA'S ROYAL TABLE. I was last there when I was 7. No one else in our party has ever been. I doubt it was $58 for pancakes back in '86. On Thursday, there's a Cobb Salad and a Dorma Nesmond martini with my name on it when we have lunch at the HOLLYWOOD BROWN DERBY. Like Lucy, I'll be looking for William Holden. On Friday, aka our companions' last night, we dine at NARCOOSSEE'S. I love it there, but the last time we went, our waiter went out of his way to rush us along. It left a wee bit of a sour taste in my mouth....but nothing that a few years away hasn't cured. I can't wait! On Saturday, we transfer from YC to the Grand Dame of Disney...the GF. We celebrate by immediately leaving the GF and having dinner at KONA CAFE at the Poly. This place is no frills, but the food is great. It's been a few years since I've been there, and there's got to be a Lapu Lapu there with my name on it. Finally, on our last night, Sunday, 8/24, we eat at a reliable favorite of ours: CITRICO'S. This place has never been a fail. I'm so excited!:lovestruc

Sounds great Scott! And happy anniversary!!! My kids live full house and you had me rolling talking about Danny taylor. Lol

What a great trip! Now I'm hungry at 10:45 at night. Thanks. :-)

I vote cab! Especially if you are limited on time. :-)

Well today was a busy one! I didn't see much of the resort today, but since the weather was just so-so we made the most of magic kingdom and didn't come back to BC for pool time. We were there from opening to Wishes with lots of stuff in between. I may do a full trip report but since this is the BC YC page I will stick to resort stuff.

Again my tired kids came home to not one but two towel animals! The mouse keepers are really working hard! I went to guest services today because I wanted to not have all of my charges go on my credit card. I had saved the cash for this trip and I didn't want any surprise bills, but I really love the magic bands and their charging abilities. I don't have to carry cash around and tonight I just went down to the front desk and paid cash to pay it off. When I checked in they mentioned that if the bill starts getting high ( I was told 1200 is high) then they do charge the credit card before check out.. I didn't want that to happen so I went down to pay it off now. Then I will go back again tomorrow and settle the final charges..I am happy that I wasn't close to the 1200$ limit, but I didn't want to take any chances. Again the front desk service was fantastic and very helpful.

So then I began to ask questions about shower-gate. This is what I found out. The showers are for spa guests( we knew that). Yes other guest did have access but that changed because the spa guest were complaining about the cleanliness and lack of access to the showers (i.e. People were leaving their crap in there and there was too much use and the fees paying guests weren't getting full access). So although I don't have much to add essentially the misuse of non-spa guests lead to the complaining of spa guests, so now non spa guests need to use the pool showers.

Let the letter writing begin ( or Naked protests) but I don't think it's going back to the old rules.

Last full day and night tomorrow. I will try to check in with more resort updates.

Thanks for checking up on that for us! :thumbsup2

I remember when the locker room was twice the size it is now. They renovated the Fitness/Spa area and cut the locker rooms in half. The lockers were a lot nicer IMHO before the renovation. After the changes the showers were stocked with anonymous/unlabeled dispensers of shower product. You had no idea if bin #1 was body wash, shampoo or conditioner. :sad2:

I honestly have to wonder if it really is a question of people being pigs or if it's a turf war between who has to clean up that area (Hotel personnel versus spa staff). I can't imagine that a large volume of people outside of the spa customers use these facilities so I smell a rat here. By limiting who has access to this area it seems that less resources have to be devoted to maintaining it.

I really think it's a shame that Disney expects you to pay exorbitant prices for a "Deluxe" hotel and then they pull a stunt like this where you can't use the locker room unless you pay a huge up-charge for spa services. It's simply ridiculous....

Disney Visa discount for summer came out this morning and I was able to get a better rate at YC than BC (35% vs 25%) so looks like we'll be seeing the resort from the other side this year.

Are you staying more than 5 nights? I booked 5 nights YC CL and staying at GFV prior to YC. I think my discount was 30 percent b/c of the 5 nights...

For those of you who know I work in Harlem... the explosion is about 20 blocks from me so I am fine and not at work today anyway. It really looks like a war zone. So far there are 2 confirmed dead and lots hurt. There is a lot to search... happened about 9:30am so lots of people out and about. They don't expect terrorist... looks like it might have been a gas explosion. Anyway prayers for the people involved in the rescue and those who live and work in that area!

Thank you for letting us know you are safe!

So sad for all of the families who have lost their loved ones, homes and businesses.

:grouphug:

So excited, we are going back to the Beach Club!!!!!:banana:

I had such a great time during our Villa and CL stay this past September that when we went to Disney in December and stayed at AOA Cars Suite I missed the Beach Club, does that make me crazy??? LOL

We had a trip booked at FT Wilderness in a cabin for May, but I kept thinking about the BC. I went on the website today and saw that with a passholder rate I could stay at the BC in a standard room for the same price plus tax that I paid for the cabin!!! I looked into it further and I ended up booking a Deluxe CL room. We are starting our beach vacation with 2 days at the BC before going to South Ponte Vedra Beach for the week. It doesn't get any better than that!

So, can I please be added to the BOG list? May 31 and June 1

:welcome: back!

I am happy to add you to the BOG list!

:cool1:

Okay friends, I have a (maybe stupid, don't judge! :lmao:) question! I read the thread on making room requests as well as the thread with the pictures of different rooms at YC. Since it's our honeymoon, I'm really hoping to get a king sized bed. I fell in LOVE with this room from the YC garden views thread.

I realize that requesting a particular room number is not a great idea, so here is my question: What exactly should I request if I'm hoping for a room w/king sized bed w/this view? The two circled areas on this map are what I am thinking I should request, but what exactly should I say?

Again, sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm just trying so hard to make sure our Disneymoon is perfect! TIA! :thumbsup2

Did you book a Garden View Room? The two areas you have circled, I believe, are the courtyard view just outside the lobby of the YC and the rooms that overlook the wedding gazebo.

Your request should be something like- "Back entrance (lakeside) courtyard view or wedding gazebo view, please. King Bed if possible- HONEYMOON trip." If your priority is king bed over the specific view, list that first.

Are you booked in a club level or standard room? If you are staying club level, look back a couple of pages to see the info I posted about those 5 garden view rooms at the YC. I think 2 have king beds. Also, if you are staying club level, it probably doesn't hurt to let the IPO know about your preference for a king bed and view.

I just looked at the link to the room you posted and I wanted to clarify that the view in that class of rooms is the back entrance (lakeside) courtyard.

Hope you get the requests you want!

:goodvibes

I just booked for end of June but unfortunately I do not feel as excited as I typically do the day I book... I had my heart set on BC but there was no availability for the week we are going so I am at YC instead. What are the chances that a SV or GV will become available so we can switch resorts? Does that happen frequently?

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

Yes, you should keep checking back. People make changes all the time.

You may want to particularly pay attention to when you are 45 days out from your trip since this is when the balances for trips must be paid. If someone cancels their BC stay, you may be in luck.

:thumbsup2

The closest entrances from YC are in front of The Yachtsman, and the one in front of Hurricane Hannahs. Heres a super fancy map for ya:

We don't find the trip TO DTD to be horrible (although the post above indicates a different experience), but paying for a cab back to the Yacht or Beach Club is worth every penny to me- and I am a cheapskate!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS INFO.

I hope you do write a trip report after you get back. It is a lot of work but a great way to relive your vacation and share it with others.

Have a great time today!!!

Disney Visa discount for summer came out this morning and I was able to get a better rate at YC than BC (35% vs 25%) so looks like we'll be seeing the resort from the other side this year.

Thanks for the heads up!

When is your trip?

:thumbsup2

On our first day, we check into BC, and whereas we'll be celebrating our anniversary, we have a dinner planned just for us at FLYING FISH CAFE. It brings us back to our beloved BWI (It's some other Disney resort y'all have never heard of). This is JNPants' favorite WDW dining experience and I especially love eating at the bar. There is a Scottish bartender there whose name escapes me, but she's delightful. Hopefully she's there on 8/15

Finally, on our last night, Sunday, 8/24, we eat at a reliable favorite of ours: CITRICO'S. This place has never been a fail.

I'm so excited!:lovestruc

YOur plans sound great. DH and I love eating at the bar at FF. I know the bartender you speak of but I can't remember her name either:confused3

Really sad to hear that the afternoon parade at Animal Kingdom will end in May. It's Lily's favorite parade.

This is really sad

Are you staying more than 5 nights? I booked 5 nights YC CL and staying at GFV prior to YC. I think my discount was 30 percent b/c of the 5 nights...

Yes, we are staying more than 5 nights so perhaps that is why there is more of a discount. I didn't ask about percentages, just figured it out comparing what I booked versus rack rate.

Glad you were able to at least get the 30%!

Thanks for the heads up!

When is your trip?

:thumbsup2

We will be at YC from 6/29-7/12.

I believe the discount offer is from June 15-August 28.

Rumor has it the same discount will open up to the general public on Monday.

Did you book by phone?

Yes, I called earlier this morning and just asked for the Disney Visa discount.

Since we now live only an hour away from WDW (and we are AP holders), it was inevitable that we would stay at our favorite resort (YC) at some point.

We've already done a few day trips since we moved down here in December, but now we're headed over for a couple of nights next month - 4/11 and 4/12. DS19 goes to college in Melbourne, FL (also about an hour from WDW) so he's meeting us there for the weekend. Staying YC CL and hoping to see some of the Club Level CMs we've met during past stays. Maybe this time I'll finally get a chance to get over to the BC and meet Teena. Every other time we've stayed at YC we were never there on any of the days she was working, or we had to leave early to catch a flight home.

Can't wait to get back to the YC!!!!

Cabbing it makes sense to me. Our last trip, I had to run over to AKL to pick up our YES tickets. My kids and I decided to take the bus back to POR and then take the boat over to DTD. It was really nice and peaceful. But we took the cab back to AKL rather than deal with the bus. We chanced the bus the next time and didn't have an issue. But we've had more bad luck with the DTD buses than good. So cabbing it will likely be the better option.

WAY :offtopic:

I have been trying to watch the Disneyland boards, but there is not nearly as much useful information as there is over on this side of the boards. And here in particular :)

Does anyone know if and when DL discounts traditionally happen? We have 4 nights at the Grand Californian. We booked our DL/Hawaii trip through AAA since we are total newbies to both of these locations, and I suspect that if a discount comes out, we would be able to save some money on that part of the package.

One offer recently came out for the spring, but did not cover our July dates.

TIA if anyone has any info!

Dee
