Had to see the ticker! Just called and dropped the DDP since it looks like we're doing all TS this trip for our anniversary. Actually will be there ON our anniversary this time, whoo hoooo! Wanted to do CL (have done it at YC before) but it wasn't showing availability. When I called to drop DDP the lady was all like, oh why would you ever want to drop it? I said well, we're doing all TS so we would be losing money by not using the CS and having to still pay OOP for some meals. She was like, well, why not do the DxDP? Uh....no. After doing the math I would have lost money with DDP as the places we have booked have dessert included and we don't do desserts at CS as a rule. Any way, it cost me $50 but I'm still being refunded almost $300. I told her I would like to upgrade the tickets to two day hoppers for two of the three of us, hubby will be semi comatose as he'll be coming off of 12 hours nights in the ER. She told me that there was no way I could do that unless I upgraded his ticket as well. Couldn't happen. I said, well, I'll just do it at the park or resort. Silence, then she says.... oh yeah, you can do that. Funny when we know more than the people that supposedly have all the answers. And she couldn't believe that we were having trouble with the MDE site losing our FP+ selections. Thinks it must be a problem with my computer. I said no, I just make sure I screen shot everything now. Wow, I didn't know you could do that!

Thank you for letting us know you are safe!

So sad for all of the families who have lost their loved ones, homes and businesses.

It is beyond sad... I am at work today and found out we have one student affected. His family lived next door to the buildings destroyed, and is now staying with another family. The death toll is up to 7 as of this morning and they are still searching... So sad especially for this area.

Thanks for the thoughts :)

Disney Visa discount for summer came out this morning and I was able to get a better rate at YC than BC (35% vs 25%) so looks like we'll be seeing the resort from the other side this year.

Is is right that the general public discount comes out on Monday? Should I call first thing at 7 am on Monday to try and adjust my reservation? Or should I wait until I see it on the website or these boards? I have a reservation at BC GV 8/20-8/29....any chance ill actually get to keep my GV room..?

I have a Disney Visa card, what is the website that I go to find out about the discounts for hotels?

You have to call for the Disney Visa discount, or you can wait until it's released to the general public on Monday and check the Disney website under "special offers" :goodvibes

Yes, you can call at 7 am and check on rate. If for some reason Monday is not the day, the CM will let you know the discount is not available. But if Monday is correct, you can try and apply then.

As far as keeping your GV room, it just all depends on their inventory. Disney sets certain rooms (category, #) aside for discounts and once they are gone, they're gone if they were even available... ie, Little Mermaid rooms at AOA have always been excluded from the discounts.

You may want to consider if the BC GV room is not offered, would you be willing to make a switch to the YC?

Or, in the case of our reservation, BC GV was available but I could save another 10% moving to YC instead. And when you're staying as long as we are, that adds up so I didn't think twice about staying at YC for the first time.

At some point, it should show up on the Chase Disney Visa website under special offers, however, it still isn't there yet. But is just the offer itself, no way to book other than calling. Also, they usually send out an email announcing the offer. But I always read about it on the DIS before I get the emails. Still haven't gotten anything today and I've had my rate since 7:30 am.

Thanks for the advice!!! Can YC accommodate 5 ? Had my heart set on BC but I'm all about saving some cash..

You should probably call at 7 am on Monday, even if it hasn't been reported on the boards yet. Worse that could happen would be that you are told there is no discount, but by all accounts I have read, General Public release is Monday.

It all depends on availability of rooms with the offer. It is possible that there won't be any more GV rooms available for the offer. If no more rooms are available in that category based on what you are paying, and what you would save by moving to a standard view room, or what the price difference to upgrade to waterview, you will have to decide if it is worth it to you.

As Mousemommy1 says, you need to call the regular Disney Central Reservation Office to check on rates and availability through the Disney Visa card offer.

Yes, you can book either the BC and YC for 5 people. There are a few booking categories that won't accommodate 5 people (Beach Club, club level, garden view for example)

Yes, from what I know, the YC rooms also have daybeds so you can reserve for a party of 5.

We've stayed 7 times at the BC/BCV since 2008 so obviously we love it, but we've talked about staying at YC to see what that's like instead. Now we get to stay there and save $$$.

Oddly enough, I looked to book us at YC a few months ago, but there were no standard or garden views available during our dates so had resigned to staying at BC once again.

Good luck getting your discount!

WAY :offtopic:

I have been trying to watch the Disneyland boards, but there is not nearly as much useful information as there is over on this side of the boards. And here in particular :)

Does anyone know if and when DL discounts traditionally happen? We have 4 nights at the Grand Californian. We booked our DL/Hawaii trip through AAA since we are total newbies to both of these locations, and I suspect that if a discount comes out, we would be able to save some money on that part of the package.

One offer recently came out for the spring, but did not cover our July dates.

TIA if anyone has any info!

Firstly an apology .... As I've nothing really to add! BUT I just wanted to say how fantastic this thread is and how much we have learned from it! We are a family of 5 from England who are flying from Dublin (please can someone please explain why this is half the cost of flying out of Manchester?), for 10 nights at the Beach Club (5th April +) for a holiday of a lifetime. This will be a one off given the cost but thanks to you all I feel prepared ..... I've my days plans out to the max (given that we've 3 children), one birthday to contend with and an age from of 4-10. The kids (and me) are so excited ..... Thanks all x

My vacation is soooooooo far away (Nov 2015), it helps to read about everyone else's trip excitement and love of all things BC/YC/BCV. Don't apologize - these are the posts that keep me excited!! :)

On Thursday, there's a Cobb Salad and a Dorma Nesmond martini with my name on it when we have lunch at the HOLLYWOOD BROWN DERBY. Like Lucy, I'll be looking for William Holden.

Excellent "I Love Lucy" reference! Trying to find a Smiley which shows my appreciation. Maybe this one: :happytv:

Part of the problem is that of late Disneyland has not been offering a lot of discounts (outside of the usual AAA and AP discounts) because Carsland has been so incredibly popular. Most of us try to book through Orbitz and use one of their discount codes for the hotel. Honestly, I don't even recall a summer discount from DL since Carsland opened. Doesn't stop me from getting 20% off of my room through Orbitz, though. Strangely, right now I have a AAA/AP rate (10% off) at Paradise Pier for April, and another one for Disneyland Hotel in July. In both cases, I booked so early that the Disney rates went up, so by the time the Orbitz discounts became available, the rates were now more and I'm better off at my original booking.

As for WDW, I had our perfect Garden View room booked, but this Disney Visa discount this morning was too good to resist. We switched to the Yacht Club, much to my husband's disappointment. At least we still get to use Stormalong Bay! But we went from a 10% AAA/AP discount to 35% off at YC, which ends up saving us $1,200 over 7 days. That pays for all of our dining, (we generally do 1 TS and 1 CS per day, plus snacks) so it's effectively the same as 'free dining' for us.

But I'm going to keep checking back to see if BC rooms come up.

Interestingly, I thought about switching to the Polynesian (that was another hotel we had been considering, to try something new) but they were also 'booked out' of the Disney Visa discount.

I'm wondering just how many of these Disney Visa discount rooms they actually had at the Beach Club. Strange how they had none, but you could get anything you wanted at Yacht Club and Boardwalk...

Hi Dee! DL is a different, unplanned, spontaneous place! Discounts come out REALLY last minute. In my experience, it's something like 60 days in advance. So we always make our GCH reservation and then wait and wait and wait!
