Well sadly we are back from our trip yesterday. We went fro 80 to 40 degrees in a few hours.

Teena - tried to see you Sun. around 2:45 but the lady with white tank top and man with orange shirt were talking to you for a really long time. Hmm, maybe we need a Teena fastpass???:). My ds said, mom those must be disers because they are talking to her for a long time.

Remember my little patio post about finding the t shirt over the divider on the balcony. Well the other day the t shirt was on our balcony floor along with a strawberry popsicle stick. Seriously, I dont know what was up with that. I wish people would take care of their own trash. and not throw it over to the next balcony. This was just beyond rude I think. I dont know if those people were mad at us for some unknown reason, we never saw them, or maybe their kids did it and the parents didnt even know etc?

Oh and we got to swim in storm along bay again, so that was good.

We ate at Hurricane Hannas. Honestly I didnt care for the food at all. I had the salad and had a bite of dh lobster roll and ds chicken sand.

Also I forgot to book a bounceback rate. I think that was because of dealing with the ds, one who was moody.

Well its ok because we never plan far in advance. I just use dh ff miles ad see when we can get a Beach Club room.

I really missed being able to walk up to Beaches and Cream. Tried it for lunch once and nothing! for 5.

Lesson learned: upon check in when the cm doesnt show you a map of where your room is located and your ds notices she makes a strange face/look at you when she sees you have a wheelchair etc. This will not turn out well. Yes, you saw me post about the room we had at first which was so far away for my walking etc.

Best part of our trip: Getting an illuminations table at Rose and Crown. Ds2 happy when a castmember said to him - heah, look another cast member. (Ds is using a walking airboot cast. Seeing the new afternoon parade at Magic Kingdom.

Also - what are peoples thoughts about kids in the hot tubs. This is what happened when ds3 went into the hot tub. He is 22 and a lifeguard in nursing school. He said he was closing his eyes and was the only one in the hot tub. Then he hears a voice that says - how old are you, how old are you. He opens his eyes and sees a little boy. He says how old are you and where are your parents? He said he was 6 and his parents were over there he pointed. Ds said he really didnt see the parents watching him etc. Sorry, we both thought this was dangerous. Lifeguards cant see into the hot tub can they?

Also I think we looked at the sign and it said no children under 12 allowed in the hot tub? I dont even use the hot tub, but of course the concerned momma bear in me always thinks about safety etc.

Oh and count me in as another person happy to see Kouzzina close. Dh and I ate there and didnt like it either. I think we both actually walked out of there with stomachaches.

luvmarypoppins, If I hadn't seen our obnoxious family get off the DTD bus at the Swan I would have sworn that they were your rude neighbors! I didn't book BB either, didn't really like the dates offered and like you never book that far out. Thankful that this was not our first visit as the FP+ situation is a nightmare. I can't imagine being a day guest right now, I couldn't find much flexibility at all for day of FPs. Also saw many people being turned away at TS restaurants trying for walk ups. Ctazy crowds for it to not be a specific holiday time!

just booked BC villas! I know nothing about this resort! Yikes! Where are the villas compared to regular rooms?

Oh I think you will like them. They look great, someday we will break from BLT and stay there. They were built right in between the Beach Club and Epcot. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the reports Wood Nymph! Have followed along the whole trip.

Joining MickeyT in thanking you for the reports! They were awesome.:cool1:

Home by 7PM last night, whirlwind trip. I think I'm done for a while and know that Jeff is. FP+ is now a nightmare, no way to move things around day of to accommodate unforeseen troubles (my back problem to be specific). I think over two days we rode less than 5 things, but that is no biggie, with as many trips as we have had we don't need to ride rides every time. The weather was very nice, temps and humidity perfect. Rude people are another thing though. The family from Hades on Saturday night put a bad taste in my mouth for sure.

The suite, where do I begin, it was incredible! Of course this just spoiled us even more though and there's no way I would ever book something that extravagant if paying for it! Being on a different floor from the lounge is a little awkward, especially when not all elevators go to 5. The offerings were nice, what we were able to experience, did not get by thee during the appetizer offerings though. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I even think I saw Teena as we were leaving yesterday morning. There was a lady in the lobby but I didn't get a good look at the name tag.
Other than the bus nightmares (40 minute wait for a MK bus on Sunday morning when there or four AK buses came by) BC is perfect. Jeff says next time if it comes down to a bus he's driving. But also after our miserable drive home yesterday with my back he also says next time we fly!
Remember, Suite 2511 if they offer it to you is wonderful. DOn't be put off when they say that it's hearing adaptable, Never noticed anything at all!

Glad you had a nice trip! That suite sounds incredible!:cool1:

I have a breakfast booked at Kouzinna in July, it'll be my first time trying it but I'm glad I'll get in before it closes to at least see what it is like.

With the report of B&C hard to get a walk up for, I'm glad we have two reservations set up for our trip, even if all we do is split ice cream treats it's worth it for us to have two trips just for that!

We are back from our trip and now it's back to work for us. :sad1: We had a very nice vacation. Because we spent so much time at the resort, it felt more like a resort vacation than a park vacation. We had great weather, too. :goodvibes

I have a little more information for this thread.

Captain's Grille - if you get the breakfast buffet they will make you an omelet or other custom egg order. They will also give you a "to go" cup for your coffee. :thumbsup2 We ate breakfast there again yesterday and I got a gluten-free Mickey waffle along with the breakfast buffet.

We were seated at the booth that is in front of the middle picture of the ships sailing in the pictures. I took a few pictures since I was able to peak down into the picture. The ships are mechanical, not GC, running on three separate tracks. One of the ships looks like Captain Jack Sparrow may have been using it for target practice. ;)

--------------------------

Tip: You can wait for the Magical Express in the Solarium. There is a chair that faces the road and you can see the bus coming toward the BC. We were the first pickup on this particular ME run. We got the front seats. :thumbsup2 The ME stopped at the BWI and then the Caribbean Beach Club before heading off to the airport.

While waiting in the lobby for a few minutes before going off to the solarium we saw two people, a man and woman, with briefcases and bags. The woman had a set of room maps, locations of all the guest rooms. We were guessing that they are part of the design team getting ready to refurb the guest rooms.

I have a little more information about the general condition of the resort. The public areas look great. The walls and floors are clean, the wood freshly painted, the walls mostly streak free, the wallpaper looks good. We saw a repair man cleaning the brass elevator doors and painting the wood trim. The exterior looks fresh and clean and they have been repairing some water damage that I think you can only see if you get up close to it. The furniture in the lobby needs to be updated, which I think is planned. The furniture in the rooms is the original furniture that was there when we first stayed there in the early 90's. They used to have food and beverages for sale in the rooms. They would have a key that locoked away the food and drinks so that the kids wouldn't eat $100 worth of Snickers bars and Coke. That is why the doors close oddly and there are those strange drawers in that cabinet. There also used to be a VCR player in one of the openings.

Our room was spotless but it is due for a refurb. We stayed at the recently refurbed Wilderness Lodge and you can tell the difference. We hope to return after the BC rooms are redone. :goodvibes

We stayed in room 2582 and it was a great location. It had a full balcony and was close to the lobby. We saw the fireworks from Illuminations four times. Most of the fireworks are low and there aren't a lot of high fireworks, but I would watch them anyway. We also saw the fireworks from inside Epcot. :) Our room had a daybed, which we didn't need, and a connecting door. We didn't hear any noise from the rooms on either side of us. Except for the people in the hallways talking or slamming doors, the rooms were quiet. :)

We had a smoker next door, smoking on the balcony. I called the front desk the moment I smelled smoke. I wasn't sure what room number they were in but the front desk said that a manager would handle it. The next day or the day after I caught the smoker again when I was putting the swimming suits on the balcony to dry. I called the front desk again, this time I knew the correct room number, and the CM I talked with was as nice as could be about my call. She made me feel good about reporting the smoker. She said that they can charge them $250 a day up to $1,000 for smoking on the balcony, or in the room, for that matter.

We talked with Teena four times, once Sunday morning, before and after our KTTK tour on Monday, and just before running off to La Nouba at DTD. It was nice to have a friendly face in the lobby. :goodvibes I also found myself starting up conversations with people on the buses and in lines. We met someone on our bus Monday who not only lived in our town but lived on the same street, about ten blocks away. I drive by their house every work day on the way to the train. What a small world it is. :goodvibes

Speaking of commuter trains, I have to get going. I'm sorry I didn't get everything done on my "to do" list. My DH didn't have the patience for any further "Shower gate" research. And I didn't know who to ask about the resort pillows.

Thanks wood nymph for your reports.
Quick question - we are doing the kttk in may. It will be myself , ds 16 and ds mom 70ish. I am a little worried about my mom walking for that long. Were there rest breaks or maybe a place for her to sit while the rest stand ? Also , I was going to squeeze in a couple of fast pass after - so plan on 6 hours ish ? TIA

Thank you Wood Nymph for your reports and all the useful information.
I am glad your trip went well!

We are very excited as we just booked the BC for October 26 - November 2. This will be our third trip to Disney and our first staying at BC and a deluxe.

We will be celebrating my son's 9th birthday so we hope this trip will be extra special for him.

Looking forward to hanging out on these boards and getting to know everyone. :goodvibes

Dee, I just noticed your ticker for DL and HAWAII!!!!!:yay::yay: That's so exciting!!!:cheer2:

Thanks!

For several reasons, we decided to take an extra special family trip this summer.

Our family has never been to Disneyland (I spent one day there with my dad and brother more than 30 years ago, but I really don't remember much) and we have not visited Hawaii. We are very excited, and a little overwhelmed with the planning, but that is a good problem to have.

:)

Arriving on 4/2 woohoo!!! Finally into single digits!. Would it help if I took a picture of the schedule? How do I post it? Any other pictures anyone wants? Any assignments for me?

Back in June/July so the offer is open then as well. Looks like I am going to miss the nekked shower protest and the dis meet! Perhaps we can come up with another worthy cause!

Wow! Just a few more days!

I should have a copy of the schedule by then, but I'll let you know if that changes.

I think someone asked about the brand of pillows (and we occasionally get questions about the mattresses, as well), so if you don't mind pulling back the sheets and seeing if you can find tags, that would be helpful. Although I wonder if they will be replacing everything with a new brand with the refurb.

:scratchin

And we are trying to get as much information as possible about "Showergate"- I am still finding it hard to believe that they are only letting spa guests use the health club showers. How exactly are they stopping people who are using the gym equipment from showering?

:goodvibes

Just booked Beach Club Club Level for the tail end of our trip September 26th-29th. Could not resist :cool1:...although I did see the possible refurbishments in the first post. Hopefully we can avoid major problems :goodvibes

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list

:woohoo:

When is your trip?

:goodvibes

2) Another summer dismeet!!! Do you have a date yet? We have an APs. Just sayin . . .

3) Was in Disneyland for the Modern Family taping. Our boys said hello to Dylan on Main Street and talked with Phil and Cam in the lounge at the GCH. Our photos, however, are horrible. This is all we have:

August 18, 6:30 pm, Solarium

That was so cool that you were in DL for the Modern Family filming! Thanks for sharing the pictures with us.

I love both Modern Family and The Middle. Unfortunately, I live with Axl!

;)

I think they should expand it into an upscale counter service location.

.

That is a FANTASTIC suggestion for the Kouzzina space!

::yes::

Well sadly we are back from our trip yesterday. We went fro 80 to 40 degrees in a few hours.

Thanks so much for your live reports and all of the valuable information you provided!!! I loved reading your updates!

:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I know how much work it is to catch up from a trip, so this is by no means a rush request, but if you would put down any thoughts/suggestions about following a gluten-free lifestyle at the resort, I would appreciate hearing them. I didn't realize you were GF and I believe you mentioned your sister also has eating restrictions so your experiences would be helpful to others.

If it is easier to send any info or pictures by email rather than posting here, you can reach me at my yahoo address: beachclubdee

Thanks, again!

Please let us know if you have any questions.

What a great and informative thread! This will be our fourth trip since 2009 with the kids, we have stayed at the BC, POP, POFQ and now YC (July 15-21 stay). I am really looking forward to being back in this wonderful area.
My question is; Is there a quick breakfast place on the YC side? I know about the BC Market place but I thought I read that there was a place on the YC side but I cant find a menu, I even checked allears, unless I am just missing it.
Thanks so much

Just wanted to add that while we were there I intended to book the BB for our August trip. I had already booked a rack rate Garden View for August 22-27, assuming I would apply the discount when it came out. When I called from the room, the BB wasn't available for my dates for ANY room at the BC and same thing for the Summer discount. The CM I spoke with was wonderful, and tried his best to do anything, even changing my dates a little bit. Nothing. I did purchase an AP while I was there, so I am praying a good AP rate comes out and has some availability for the end of August.

There's a great discount through an agency for your August dates. Check a couple of the August threads in codes forum for hints to the agency name. ;)

Thanks for posting your pictures and trip report.

Yes, SAB. We have been watching YouTube videos of SAB and BC. SAB looks absolutely amazing.

We will be arriving to the resort around noon and will be eating a CS lunch. Besides going to Epcot, what is a good CS lunch that is around the area?

It is called La Vie en Rose Frozen Slush (Grey Goose Vodka Orange, St. Germain liquor with White and Red Cranberry Juice) and here is the link:

http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/fleur-de-lys-2014-epcot-flower-and-garden-festival/

It is the first food kiosk as you walk over the bridge into France.

I've never had any of the grey goose slushies before, so I don't know how the pink one compares to the regular ones that they have at Epcot all the time. But this one is perfect for me. :) And putting it in a mug is a brilliant idea. :goodvibes

Just read out loud the ingredients to the La Vien en Rose Frozen Slushy and my wife perked up so fast :cheer2: it was too funny. Then before I could read anything else he said " you have to find where that is":cool1:.
She is starting to get a little excited like me.
Come on June!
Have a great day everyone!

It is mostly standing and not a lot of walking. We sat down at a few places, including on the Jungle Cruise and at Columbia Harbor House for lunch, but a lot of time we were standing. It took six hours from start to finish. We didn't feel like doing anything except go back to the resort by the end of the tour.

And we are trying to get as much information as possible about "Showergate"- I am still finding it hard to believe that they are only letting spa guests use the health club showers. How exactly are they stopping people who are using the gym equipment from showering?

:goodvibes
I think that certain "persuasive" guests could get the staff at the spa to agree to let them use the showers. ;) But then that's just a guess. After all, Jamie Davis, the CM in charge of custodial operations, thought it was the current policy (although he was wrong).

I didn't realize you were GF and I believe you mentioned your sister also has eating restrictions so your experiences would be helpful to others.

I'll post more detail about our experiences with getting gluten free food at WDW later. :)

The taxi ride for DH and I from the BC to the west side of DTD was something like $13.20 on the way there, it was rush hour traffic, and $10.80 on the way back. It was a Mears taxi each way and it was worth every penny for the DTD trips. We paid cash for the taxi rides. We had heard stories of some shady dealings with credit cards, so we wanted to be safe and use cash.
