(2014-2020) Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN RESORT & SPA + VILLAS Information & Questions

I know this question has been asked a million times, but I couldn't find a response in the search. DH, DD (1) and I are staying in RPC next week to celebrate our 10 year anniversary! We were married at the Wedding Pavilion. We have a standard club room booked. Can anyone suggest some room requests (or specific rooms) we should ask for? We need to have a full tub to give daughter a bath, and I'd like something that's not too far from the lounge in case one of us wants to run there while our daughter naps. I also want a location that's not too noisy. Thanks for any help! I've loved reading this thread getting ready for our trip

Congratulations on your 10th anniversary. ..and what a nice way to celebrate...with a GF stay...Rooms that are not too far from the lounge...which is located on the 4th floor...but a little way down the side hall leading to the lounge would be 4417..closest to 4414 farthest..these have a courtyard/pool view...and are the middle few rooms with in that hall way. ..there are also standard CL rooms across the atrium...which over look the lobby. . .but I do think those are not as quiet..HTH...

trishadono - thanks, but where is the second twin size pull down? The description I typed came from the website and was the same for both categories of 2 bedroom villa (standard view and lake view). It doesn't make sense that there are 2 twin size pull downs (because then the room could sleep 10 - 1 king, 3 queens and 2 twins) but it definitely says two pull downs. So is that an error or is there a pull down somewhere else in the villa other than the living room? Can you request an undedicated room if it has that extra pull down?
For a dedicated 2br there is not a 2nd twin.

For a lock off 2br it is a studio with 2queens and a pull down under the tv(twin), then the 1br has a king and living area with the queen sleeper and a 2nd tv twin pull down.

That's this one.

The Garden View Tea room would be great as long as she sits for 30-45 mins ok. They have a great a la carte menu! Check it out! An example, you can get a bowl of strawberries and whipped cream or just scones. So you could do a longer 4 course selection or just grab a dessert which would be faster.

We like to dress up for the tea room too! Its fun to get dolled up even for dd20!

I thought they got rid of the a la carte menu?

Thank you Blue Skies! Do you know what the view is for the rooms that overlook the lobby? And there are no standard Club level rooms with a king bed, right?

trishadono - thanks. That is the one I want. Although I'm not a DVC member, so I think my chances of getting any 2 bedroom villa at the GF are nonexistent! Any tips?

Probably have to get points vs cash reservation. Seems to be booked whenever I look. We got ours because I booked the very first day it opened up online.

We really like BLT and they have been showing availability. I even found some 2 br availability with orbitz discount this summer so that may be an option.

Good Luck!

I would send an email to ipo with what you just said. Close to lounge, full tub and quiet.

Enjoy your trip!
We just got back stayed in room 6315. We had a great few of the marina and the ease of getting to and from the lounge but the door opened towards the lounge and was quite noisy at times. I would agree with Close to lounge, full tub and quiet. I can not say enough about the staff. We had to change so many ADR's and Fast Pass selections and they were just great. You are going to love the Grand Floridian and Sugar Loaf worth every penny.

How long would it take to get from GF to WL for dinner? I'm guessing the quickest option would be the monorail to MK and then the boat to WL? Is an hour enough time?

TIA!

Anyone else second guessing staying at the Gf. I was really looking forward to it until I saw the monorail is going thru a refurb. MK is our main park for 3 out of 6 days. Does anyone know if the monorail should be running after MNSSHP? We really wanted the ease of hopping on the monorail back to the hotel on our 2 MNSSHP party nights. Plus we have a pre park opening CP adr

@trishadono what about adding Poly activities to your GF resort day, like Hula lessons? :-)

BTW, we will be there the last week in October as well!!!

@tony609 what other resorts are you considering? IMO, I'd rather have SOME monorail than NO monorail. :-)

I thought the monorail issue would be back to normal hours soon? Or at least by the end of the summer...was that just wishful thinking of my part?

I also like to do mono to cr then boat. You can also boat from GF to MK then transfer to another boat.

Dd knows I love the boats so she tolerates my choices:) Besides a happy mom will go again next year ;)

Came back to add: there is a bus from MK to WL that runs continuously. We found that faster than the boats on our last WL stay.(just a few minutes)

We are planning lunch at Kona, the new beach side lunch service and Traders!!! I even have a dress with fringe at the hem I am bringing just for my Trader day. SO kinda a hula::yes::

I miss my Poly!!

A taxi would be the quickest and option and not much money - I don't think it is even a 5 minute drive -- we did a split stay in February and stayed first at the GF and transferred to FW -- I drove from GF to FW and it was a very quick drive. After dinner, I'd highly recommend taking the boat back to either the CR or the MK and then the boat back to GF -- we always take the boats as "the last ride of the day."

Love that plan!
I miss the Poly too, so our arrival day (by noon) will be our resort day, followed by dinner at Spirit of Aloha...and I don't know what to wear!!!
