I am also wondering how permanent the motor launch suspension is. Big advantage going back to GF from MK. We really like the boats for transportation. Hmmm

Whoa whoa whoa...no boat from GF!? What in the world? So when the monorail is down you have to bus it? Not cool!

That's what it said today on Dis Updates I prefer taking the boat back to GF or Poly from MK. And to get to ADRs at WL & FW transfer to their boat at MK.
Not cool at all.

Hopefully the boat situation is only temporary and they'll have the boats running again soon. I can see it being difficult on people if the monorail is sometimes down, the boats aren't running, it isn't ideal but hopefully like I said just temporary.

Yikes, that's really not good. The monorail was iffy when we were there in March and we preferred to just hop on the boat to go back to the GF. Even when we stayed at the Poly we often chose to take the boats instead of the monorail.

Are the boats different then ferries?
I thought they said ferries were running. We are going this year. Is it best to monorail and ferry back?

Sort of. The big ferry runs between the TTC and MK. The MK resorts have smaller ferries, motor launches that run between each resort and MK.

I think that's what it is. The water launches will resume in a bit, as Disney has a chance to consider their options for a safer experience for guests, but also (for those interested in aesthetics) having something tasteful and to fit the theme. (as was mentioned above) I would imagine that other beaches will be fenced as well, since this very thing could have happened, say, at the Poly beach. I know I've seen small children playing near the water's edge there also.

I had posted this on the Poly thread yesterday evening, fencing is already being installed at the Poly too.. It appears from these photos that the fence will run the entire length of the waterfront/beachfront between resorts.

I'm sorry to see this fence going up. It is taking away the beauty of the surrounding of the resorts. What's next? A fence on the beaches of oceans because there are sharks in the water? I still think that the fence around the pool at the GF has taken away part of the ambiance of the outdoors.

I am still planning on booking Grand Floridian for our trip next year on Tuesday and I'm hoping by next year the water launches are running. If they are taken away, sad to say we will then be staying at Yacht Club. There is NO reason to stop the water launches.

I'm hoping they'll be back by August!!! And if they aren't running, they should be finding a way of stopping all those people at park closing from using the resort monorail to get to TTC. They have 2 other options, the Express monorail or big ferry. One night last visit boats weren't running because of lightening in area. Resort monorail line was horrendous and most people were using it to get to TTC.

Does anyone have any feedback on the 2-bedroom outer building suites? I'm thinking of switching our main building TPV to the suite to have more space, but can't find any good reviews or videos online. The photos on Disney's site make it seem...claustrophobic? There's no doors or windows that open in the main living area.

Sorry, I don't. Did you look at page 1 on this thread? There may be info there. We had a deluxe room in RPC and it was quite spacious. There were 3 of us, myself and my 2 adult daughters. We had 2 queens and a pull out sofa, looked to be a double, but could have been queen. So everyone had their own bed.

Not much info anywhere it seems. Darn. I don't want to spend $1700/night and not like it. We have a standard TPV in RPC but with 5 of us and one bathroom and our suitcases I worry about it being cramped...

The rooms on the atrium side, facing DVC and the Poly are a bit bigger with a wet bar, which is quite big and has lots of storage under, we put our luggage in there to get it out of the way. Perhaps that would be better for you. You can request a room on that side but no guarantee. Rooms on that side are GV though no TPV. There is not a lot of storage in the rooms since the referb. The drawers are tiny.

Can confirm no curbside or interior CL check in. Must wait in line. No lobby concierge, desk is closed must wait in check in line.

Unfortunately, I think it's all about timing as far as when you arrive. When we checked in a few weeks ago, we were escorted upstairs, but we had to tell the bell services gentleman that we were staying in RPC and it was about 9:30 am. There definitely weren't any ME buses arriving then. Sorry about your experience:(

The deluxe rooms are my favorite since they are large without the excess cost of a suite, but they are hard to get! Storage is honestly a problem in all the GF rooms (particularly with two teenage girls) but here is what I did to remedy the problem this last trip!image.jpegimage.jpeg image.jpegAll of these are collapsible in case you wondered...so you can fit them in the bottom of your suitcase. Every bathroom at GF has that hamper and we've never used it, so it was a great spot to keep makeup bags, etc. I honestly don't know how we would've fit everything without these! By the end of the week, that one on the vanity was overflowing! Please ignore the dirty flip flops:)

As others have posted, I'm sure the motor launch situation is temporary.

There is definitely info and photos in our older threads, I will see if I can find the posts. In the meantime - check out the Rooms Photos post, I think it's post #3? At the top, there are links to various room types, I'm pretty sure there are photos of Misti's 2 BR in Sago Cay.

And in post #2, Guest Rooms, at the bottom of the post is the suite descriptions.

HTH! :sunny:

ETA: check out my next two posts, on the following page - I had to do a search, my first page links were broken!

Hi everyone! Looking forward to booking on Tuesday! Read when that's when 2017 prices come out. Talk more then!

Welcome! Good luck with your booking. :)

Can confirm no curbside or interior CL check in. Must wait in line. No lobby concierge, desk is closed must wait in check in line.

Ugh. :headache: (btw - good to see you!)
