How is the breakfast at Gasparilla Island Grill?? Our first morning I had ADRs for GF Cafe but we need to pay OOP for that meal and I'm thinking it might be quicker (and cheaper) to just eat at GIG..

Any thoughts or pictures to share??

Yes this is what I have heard as well.

If you don't want to wait for boat what is another option back to the grand when monorail are down ???
You could walk to the Contemporary and take a cab back. You would have to pay for the cab, of course. They always have cabs waiting outside at the Contemporary, so that would be the fastest option.

Hi all! Our online check-in date is coming up and I just wanted to see what you think about our request before I call it in -

I was thinking: Marina view, no dormer balcony, if possible king bed

It will be me, DH and DD5 in the room for 10 nights so I just really want to be sure I put the request in well! I know it is just a request but... one can hope!

I would love to be in Conch Key - curious if this would even be met there? I'd be OK with dropping the King Bed part of the request if needed! :-)

Thanks for your thoughts!

Another option that may work when monorail is down is ferry over to the TTC then walk from poly to GF...not sure how much walking that is but may be an option. Can anyone weigh in on this idea??

This is a decent walk. You would walk on a path past where the luau cove is and then past the wedding pavilion and past there through the villa side and finally main building. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi everyone. Last minute we added a three night stay onto our previously booked Poly trip in two weeks. I got a decent ap deal for a lagoon view room. I was hoping for a king bed but when I did online check in that was not an option. I picked Boca and upper floor but now I am doubting that as I have heard other people say first floor is best. I am pretty confused on what to request. I guess I will call to get the bed straightened out (although two queens would be ok too but my husband would sleep in one bed and the toddler and I in another so I would need a bed rail I guess).

Any advice you could offer in terms of room requests? It has been quite a few years since our last GF stay. Thanks all!

We only had the crossaint egg sandwich and it was good. They also have the general breakfast fare all the resorts have. We like Gaspys.

Sounds good to me!

We usually pic Boca Chica. With upper floor you may get a dormer room which is a bit smaller and small balcony with solid wall. Some like these rooms, they have vaulted ceilings. But I don't, esp the solid balcony. When you sit, you can't see out. So I don't request upper floor. I wouldn't know why first floor is best? I don't like those either . People passing by can see into room. I prefer a room on floors 2,3 or 4.

I wanted to update those of you who are staying in SL CL soon... Franco (a CM that alternates between RPC and SL) said they just added the evening cordials back to SL. I was very happy to hear that. I would imagine they were getting a lot of complaints! Forgive me if someone already updated this information, and I missed it. Here's a marina picture for you guys to enjoy!View attachment 172308

You are awesome!! Thank you for posting that information. My upcoming trip will be in SL and hearing all the "bad" news lately, it had me second guessing choosing to go CL. Since I have never done CL before, I wanted it to be special -- and the full-blown experience.

Also, thank you for the picture. I'm still debating which view and floor level to request. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Have a great trip!

Hi to all my Grand friends!!!

I just finished reading all the posts from our March trip until today. A lot has happened in two months. I'm glad to hear some things are back that they tried to eliminate. I hope they bring everything back.

Hi there!! Staying at the Grand for the first time in July for a quick girlfriends getaway weekend. We were booked at BoardWalk and upgraded. Absolutely cannot wait to experience the monorail (I hope it's up and running regularly while we're there!) and all of the opulence of the hotel!!

Hello GF experts! This post has been so helpful and I can tell how much love you have for the resort. I have stayed at most WDW resorts but not this one. However I was at WDW for a spring break trip in March and going by the GF on the monorail something in me just said "I gotta stay here!" lol!

Can someone answer a question about the "deluxe rooms"? I booked an "outer building, deluxe room, garden view" for a trip next month (July) and it said it has two queen beds and a day bed. I chose this room because I want to be certain to get the daybed as my older teenage son always wants his own bed. The other choices I had were regular rooms (with a garden view or lagoon view) and the options for those made it sounds like some do not have the daybed.

1) Am I guaranteed to get a daybed because of the deluxe room?
2) Will my 5'10" teenager fit on the daybed? lol
3)The balconies - are they sometimes open and sometimes closed? I'd rather have an open one (no panels) so is there a request I should make so I get that? Of course I'd love the best view possible but I'm guessing there are no bad views?
4) Are all the deluxe rooms the same size? I definitely would like the bigger room with the extra tv and sort of "living room" space there.

Thanks!
Carol

Just an update on what happens when the monorail is down and you have to take the boat back to GF....because it happened to us! They did bring in one of the larger boats that can carry 120 people, but the smaller boats kept running until the larger boat arrived so it still took around 45 minutes to get back unfortunately.

Would there be a quicker way by bus?

After the Reno all rooms have day beds I'm pretty sure. During one stay we had a deluxe room in RPC, GV, and it had 2 queens & day bed. Open balcony.
We've also had regular rooms in Boca Chica (GV) and Big Pine (lagoon) both had day beds.
The dormer rooms are the ones with the closed balcony. I always put on my request- NO dormer.
So, you don't need a deluxe room to get day bed. But they sure are nice!
One of my (adult) daughters likes her own bed too. The one she had in RPC deluxe room was a queen pull out sofa. But an adult will fit on day bed too.

Our last 2 stays at both GF & Poly when monorail was down for maintenance? they were running the larger boats that they use for the Pirate cruise.

Have you done the GF tour?

The same thing happened to us in March and the line for the boat was very long.
