Trying again to see if I an get advice on room requests :)

We are staying at YC in a Garden View Room - starting next week :)

Recommendations for best view, location (close to buses, walking to parks and proximity to SAB).

One week from now, we'll be there! I need to get in my room request. Thanks!
I would ask for a gazebo view. This will place you near the elevators which are near transportation. The view is really nice!

Thanks for the reply Ocalla! Anyone have a garden view full balcony room that they especially like? Kids are 12 and 14 now so not dealing with little guys. When we stayed at BC before we had Illuminations view. Any thoughts on those rooms? TIA for any replies

Uggghhh!!!! Just had to spend $700 to change my airline tickets!!! My son was invited to a a free ISEE prep class this summer, which thrilled me. Unfortunately, the program dates were later than anticipated and I had to bump our trip to the first week of Sept. Luckily my "magical" TA was able to switch the dates of our trip. Now we're doing the YC the second half of our vacation, so our new dates are 9/2 - 9/7. Bummed about the airfare but very happy we can still stay at the Poly at the YC for such a great price!!!

Hi we will be at the YC at the end of this week . Unfortunately for this trip we only have a standard view room :crazy2:
Are there any sections you would recommend to request that would be the lessor of this categories evils? Higher floor...a certain wing...close to lobby etc??? We will be doing quite a bit of Star Wars Weekends, so I expect to be walking to HS in the EARLY pre dawn hours- is there somewhere closer I should request for this(for exiting, pathway etc).
Also can you request a microwave, based on availability?

The last time we stayed here (several years ago)it was for 3days before our 7day POP reso. I think we had a Garden View booked, but somehow we ended up family of the day and were upgraded to Club Level Waterview!!!!:love1: I don't see that happening again for this trip:sad2:....

Thanks for your thoughts!

I added this to the Transportation Section on Page 1.

Does anyone have anything to add, or other suggestions/corrections? Do we know the usual pickup times for Yacht Club?

Note: I did not add any info about the luggage delivery- that may come at a later time.

Disney's Magical Express, phone: (866) 599-0951

Disney offers a complimentary bus service for resort guests to and from the Orlando airport (MCO). This should be scheduled in advance.

Arrival: Check in and buses to the resorts are located on the ground floor of Terminal B at MCO.

Departure: The ME will pick you up approximately three hours before scheduled departure of your flight; however, we believe that the ME picks up at BC at five minutes and 35 minutes after the hour - i.e. 1:05 and 1:35. You are instructed to be waiting outside at least ten minutes prior to your scheduled pick-up time, as the motor coach can be early and will not wait. You can call ME to find out what time your family is scheduled.

Checked into the BC yesterday. Got our request for a full balcony. Our room is somewhat far from the lounge but it's ok. I know these rooms have been recently refurbished but they're already seeing a lot of wear and tear. The paint on our door is already coming off as well as lots of scuff marks on the furniture and a stain on our floor. I'll post pictures of it later but we're in room 5698

Hi! We checked in yesterday and are just a few doors down from you. I have also noticed the paint chipping on the doors. Ugh!

Our room is in great condition. No full balcony for us. Resort is at capacity. At least we have a daybed and even though we are a party of 5 we were told that was not guaranteed and we should feel lucky we were able to get a daybed. Was a rocky start to the vacation yesterday. Difficult when this was to be a big celebration.

Although, the lounge is lovely once again and we simply love the resort as a whole.

Too bad for the rocky start. Hopefully the worst is behind you and the rest of the vacation will be the celebration you deserve!

Hi - What list are you talking about? I would love to get on it.. :)

I don't think I have welcomed you here to this thread yet, so

:welcome:

Do you have an upcoming trip to the Yacht/Beach or BCV resort

:)

Hi YC/BC friends and Dee! :wave2: I'll be back at the BC in July! We are excited to get back and see the new room decor! Our dates are 7/25-8/1. :goodvibes

:welcome: back!!!

I'm always happy to add you to the Be Our Guest list!

:goodvibes:

Good Morning Everyone!! How's the Captains Grill at breakfast time? Wanted to relax a bit before heading out to the parks (trying to take it a bit slower for this trip) by having a few sit down meals either at our resort or maybe taxi over to another one.

Favorite breakfast spots????

We usually NEVER sit down for breakfast. This is going to be very new for us. Could be a total FAIL......we might scrap the entire plan after day 1 :rolleyes1

But I'm thinking that the week we are going it shouldn't be necessary (notice how I'm trying to convince myself it's going to be OK) to hit the park at opening time.

I have stayed club level for most of my trips, so I usually don't go to a sit-down breakfast, but we always try to make time for breakfast at Kona Café!!!

The only time I have had breakfast at Captain's Grille was last August during the DIS meet trip.

Here's my review along with a couple of other one of the breakfast there.

Here is a link to a few pictures from the daily breakfast buffet provided by TaraPA: Breakfast Buffet pictures

Anyone still trying for BC free dining mid September, they just released some rooms. I was able to modify my "late summer" discount for free dining on a woods view room and it saved me $350! Great way to start my morning on the west coast!

Thanks so much for sharing this news!!!

:thumbsup2

Tomorrow at this time I will be checked in to the Beach Club for a trip I wasn't sure would ever happen. I just finished 6 months of chemotherapy and scheduled this trip in January as a finish line goal to get through the treatments. I am going with my 23 yo daughter, 2 sisters and 2 friends. The week after I return I will be having mastectomy. Chemo was hard. Much harder than I anticipated, but having this trip scheduled gave me something fun to focus on when things got tough. I can't believe it is finally here! It's going to be good to get away from all this cancer stuff for a few days and just relax and have fun.

jb :sunny:

I missed giving you good wishes for your sendoff, but I hope you are having a fantastic time and sending you positive thoughts for your surgery when you return.

:grouphug:

Does any one remember or know off the top of your head what time the campfire is in November? Trying to book our B&C reservation around it, I thought the kids would have fun with that. But I can't find the calendar from last year. Anyone know, pretty please?

If you go to the Activities Post (Post 4) on Page 1 of this thread, there is a link to the activities schedules from past years. You should be able to find Nov 2014. Let me know if you don't see it.

:)

We'll be staying BCV, studio in mid June, it may be too late for you to decide to switch to Club Level at YC for a report.

I know in the past we have stayed while they have refurbished the rooms, we were not inconvenienced. They take rooms out of inventory that they refurbish, and they work during the day, I understand what you mean about noise, I mean, 7am for noise here in our town seems early on days I want to sleep in and the lawn services begin arriving at the neighbors!

The refurbishment of the Polynesian has gotten a lot of notice because it is a BIG deal, and it is a LOT of noise, I don't get the impression that the Villas will be getting that kind of refurbishment - but, if you want to switch to YC Club level, you probably can be enabled by reading the Club Level thread!

I didn't see you on the Be Our Guest list, so I will add you.

:welcome:

Dee: You are Amazing!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to post review links for me to check out.

And by the way, my husband demands Kona (oh heck, so do I!!!) at least twice each trip!!!

I'm also giving Boma breakfast a try this year, YIKES....really going out on a limb here!!!!

We did Boma buffet breakfast on our last trip just so try it out...it was good - nothing spectacular - typical Disney buffet...good service, nice atmosphere. No characters...which is what we wanted....(for characters we did Chef Mickey...fun meal).

It always makes me wonder if trying to get breakfast in at other resorts is worth the trouble!!! I'm really not a buffet person, sadly most breakfasts are buffets LOL.

I'm trying to take this trip laid back, which is the reason for the sit downs in the morning.....I'm an early riser so I need something to kill our time to avoid rope drop, or I'll be right there in the thick of it !!!

Thanks so much - sorry I missed that!

When I mentioned DH and I sleep late, I mean we can sleep as late as 10:00/10:30 and not roll out of the room until 11:00/11:30 which is well into the construction time sent on the letter they sent me. So if anyone is around at BC in the next couple of months around that time of day and could report back on noise that would be great!!!!

So, are you staying at the Beach Club resort or Beach Club villas? September?

:)

Woohoo - just switched the last 5 days of our August trip to Beach Club! We were originally doing 10 nights at the Poly, but last night I got the brilliant idea to do a split stay ;) Now we're even more excited about our trip :)

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1 of this thread.

Sounds like a fantastic trip.

:goodvibes:

Ugh....first bummer of our trip...and we haven't even arrived yet!! The magic kingdom park hour scheduler cast member dude or dudette decided to open up at 8:00 am on my daughters bday when for the last 160 days it had been 9am. So much for early entry and crystal palace breakfast. The one thing my daughter wanted was to run around the hub and main st to take pictures before it got crazy with peeps. Oh well!!! It's not really that empty anyways...plus we just saved $200 by not doing the character meal!

Sorry to hear about that! In most cases, the extension of hours would be great news but I can see how this change really messes with your plans that you had to implement months ago!

Being there the same week-ish, I am finding they keep changing hours, coinciding with when I have just updated the Theme Park Hours document I submitted to the teachers for our trip.

:sad2:

We have stayed YC the last two trips and really like it. This upcoming trip in late October we booked a BC water view room because YC didn't have a room available with the free dining. A water view room is now available at YC for the same/time price as BC. Only concern is if we stay at BC we'll get a renovated room whereas YC will just be starting renovations. Anyone have any thoughts on how much "nicer" the renovated rooms are at BC compared to the non-renovated rooms as YC? We really like having a full balcony at YC so that is a consideration.

Thanks in advance.

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for the Beach Club. For now. Let me know if you change to YC. I have never stayed at the Yacht Club, but think I would lean towards the full balcony, especially since you have booked water view.

:woohoo:

Just a heads-up to those here who fly Southwest - their schedule extension came out this morning for travel through 01/04/2016.

I booked flights this morning after 5:00 a.m. and could tell I was not the first. The holiday flights at the lowest fares go fast!

Thanks for posting this!

:thumbsup2

My goodness! The end of the year scuttle! I'm exhausted just reading what you are going to be doing!

Do have fun and enjoy the moment, lots of awesome memories being made.

Good luck with your dad's doctors appointment.

(and I've so enjoyed reading your reports you've posted around, thank you!)

Thank you so much!

:goodvibes

Sure thing

I appreciate that!

:thumbsup2

Woah!!! So their is an app to check your laundry at BLT. When will Y&B get this.

Thanks for all the laundry info. I am hoping someone going soon will have some pictures and comments about the experience. When I get a chance, I will add this info to the laundry section on page 1.

:goodvibes

First time posting but have been following the threads for awhile. I love the beach club its my favorite resort and we are staying May 25th to May31st 2015. Star wars weekends and beach club nothing can be more perfect.

:welcome: to this thread and posting on the DIS!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:cool1:

Paint chipping on doors - was told the product used was defective and they are working on correcting. The doors on the 3rd floor and down, currently being renovated, have a different product being applied and will not have this issue. Disney is on it!

It is a beautiful Disney day. BC CL CM's are terrific!

Thanks much. We did switch to Yacht Club for the full balcony.

My husband and I met the nicest couple and their two daughters at the Beach Club concierge this past weekend. (On Friday May 15) Of course we didn't exchange information, but I know that the husband's name is John. Our kids really hit it off. They had two girls and we have two boys. I wish I would have asked for their info so we could keep in touch. We searched for them on Saturday but never to into than again. If by chance you read this and it's you, private message me! Thanks!

I added this to the Transportation Section on Page 1.

Does anyone have anything to add, or other suggestions/corrections? Do we know the usual pickup times for Yacht Club?

Since the BC is the first stop on the way to MCO, followed by the YC, I would presume that the ME picks up at the YC 5-10 minutes later, than at the BC. A notice is supposed to be slipped under the room door, the night before departure, which will provide your scheduled pick up time and include an extra copy of the ME voucher. Do not always count on receiving that notice the night before, however. This year, I had to call the toll-free number to find out the pick up time, as there was no notice under the door. While I was on the phone, getting the pick up info, the notice was "magically" slid under the door, at about 7:00 in the morning.

Usually, the ME makes a third stop, at CB, but it ultimately depends on time of day and loads. On one of my trips, the ME also stopped at the SSR, before heading to MCO, making a total of three stops, following the first one at the BC. As the first stop is always the BC, there is never a problem finding seats with the rest of your party, and I always like to get a mini-view of some of the other resorts, before departure from WDW.

Now that my girls are older, we don't have to go to buffets any more...I'm a bit of a germaphobe. So when we want characters, we go for the "family style" restaurants. It's been years since we've been (my girls won't get up in time), but 'Ohana has a nice breakfast where they bring the food to your table. Plus, if you plan to go to MK that day, it makes it really easy to just monorail over after breakfast. It may be difficult to get reservations there for breakfast (I know it is for dinner), but I just thought I'd mention it.

Thanks Dispro1: We have done our fair share of the character meals (one good thing about kids getting older is Not having to do them!!) The Family Style would def be the best bet if you must get in the characters. Great suggestion to others on here that may not realize how the food is served!!! Plus.....it's Lilo and family as characters:love: And you just can't beat the music from that movie!!!!

I think I have decided on the 2 Kona breakfasts (my favorite) and just using the Marketplace for oatmeal the rest of the mornings!!
