Tomorrow at this time I will be checked in to the Beach Club for a trip I wasn't sure would ever happen. I just finished 6 months of chemotherapy and scheduled this trip in January as a finish line goal to get through the treatments. I am going with my 23 yo daughter, 2 sisters and 2 friends. The week after I return I will be having mastectomy. Chemo was hard. Much harder than I anticipated, but having this trip scheduled gave me something fun to focus on when things got tough. I can't believe it is finally here! It's going to be good to get away from all this cancer stuff for a few days and just relax and have fun.

JoyBeth,
What a wonderful way to celebrate the end of your chemo!!! And I must say, a brilliant idea to book a trip post chemo to give yourself something positive to look forward to.
I am so sorry that you are going through all of this, and that you still have so much unpleasantness to come.

However, I hope that your trip fills your heart with so much :tinker:that its enough to last all the way through your surgery and then some!!!

~Chris

Just wanted to say good luck with your heart procedure. Let us know when that is happening if you want us to send along some pixie dust.

:tink:

Dee,
Thankyou so very much!!! I really appreciate your kind words. Especially since you have your own hands quite full at the moment with your Daddy.
I will know more at the end of this week after I see my Dr. Just finished a month of wearing a heart monitor so he can have a better view of what is occurring.

~Chris

Thanks Dispro1: We have done our fair share of the character meals (one good thing about kids getting older is Not having to do them!!) The Family Style would def be the best bet if you must get in the characters. Great suggestion to others on here that may not realize how the food is served!!! Plus.....it's Lilo and family as characters:love: And you just can't beat the music from that movie!!!!

I think I have decided on the 2 Kona breakfasts (my favorite) and just using the Marketplace for oatmeal the rest of the mornings!!

I'm really curious about Kona breakfast now. Too bad that will never happen since my girls sleep until 11. We always stay CL so hubby and I have somewhere to hang out while they sleep-lol. And it is nice being able to skip the character meals now, but seeing Chip n Dale get flirty with my 15 year old last year (16 now) was REALLY funny (at Garden Grill) so we decided to go again this trip. And we go to Akershus once a year too because I have the pictures with Princess Belle (that they take) starting at age 3 and 8 for my daughters...I can literally watch them grow up at Disney...so I am making them keep going there!

Today is a sorrowful day in our household. On this day we remember the 37 sailors lost in the attack on the USS Stark which I am thankful that my husband survived but other families were not so fortunate. So I was happy to receive my birthday gift from my daughter, son-in-law and grandsons a day early to cheer me up a little bit on this sad day. Thought I would share it with my favorite people on the disboards because I'm sure some of you feel the same way as I do about Disney.

This put a smile on my face!! Look for the mickey head. I am looking forward to my next trip to the Beach Club in August. Can't wait!!!!

Oh my gosh, I LOVE LOVE LOVE that glass...where did they get it, do you know?

In searching the old threads for the bc/yc i saw something that said you were no longer allowed to shower at the gym after using the pool? We'll be spending our last day at the pool, as we always do, and at the wilderness lodge we've always been able to shower at the gym before our flight. Has anyone successfully done this? Or do they no longer let guests....Thanks!

I appreciate what all the service men/women do every day to protect our freedom, and I am so sorry for what happened to those 37 sailors. However, that glass is awesome, and I hope it did make your birthday a little bit brighter:) Every day is a gift.

:welcome: to the thread!

When is your trip?

As far as we know, guests are no longer permitted to use the showers in the health club after using the pool. The policy is that the showers are for spa guests only.

Stupid and incomprehensible rule!

Not sure if anyone has been able to use the showers after asking, though.

There are outside showers located at a few places around the pool, but they are not ideal. I think I have photos in the 2nd and/or 3rd post in this thread.

All this talk about graduating children... my DS is graduating pre-k this week AND has his very first loose tooth. I know it's not the same, but he's still my baby.

DH pointed out that our June trip to ASmu (first WDW trip with DS) was almost a year ago. Ahhh, what a great trip. Ready for the next one. ;)

Hi! We checked in yesterday and are just a few doors down from you. I have also noticed the paint chipping on the doors. Ugh!

Our room is in great condition. No full balcony for us. Resort is at capacity. At least we have a daybed and even though we are a party of 5 we were told that was not guaranteed and we should feel lucky we were able to get a daybed. Was a rocky start to the vacation yesterday. Difficult when this was to be a big celebration.

Although, the lounge is lovely once again and we simply love the resort as a whole.
We are neighbours room 5711

Fireworks view from the room is great!!!

I am still working on catching up to the current pages.

Below is a response to a similar question.

If you want to request a room based on a location close to everything, request "Close to lobby". This will be the closest to the lobby/pool/transportation.

For view, wedding gazebo view is nice, as Katesdad suggests or the back entrance courtyard (lakeside) view is fun for people watching.

I have set up threads in the Resorts Photo subforum for Yacht Club Room Views and Beach Club Room Views where guests have submitted photos of the views from rooms in the various view categories so people can see samples of what it available. There are several posts about garden view rooms (see the index on page 1)

I would ask for a gazebo view. This will place you near the elevators which are near transportation. The view is really nice!

THANK YOU BOTH!

Is there any chance of seeing fireworks from a GV room? And what would you request for that? Thanks!

Rebecca - hope you have the most magical celebration trip ever!

I suppose there is a possibility of seeing some of the upper fireworks in some of the rooms that face EPCOT, but I wouldn't get any hopes up. I think the best request for that would be "Back entrance (lakeside) courtyard view, facing EPCOT" or "Wedding Gazebo view, facing EPCOT"

The problem with getting too specific with the request is that it becomes harder to find a room with the more requests you add- the YC and BC resorts have been running close to full capacity lately, so it has been difficult to get the exact requests guests want.

But you can always ask.

I'm so glad you asked this question @tuckerkeys and thanks to Dee for answering. I totally glossed over that update. I get why the implemented that rule because they probably had a ton of people just coming in to shower but they should really look at creating some type of pool locker rooms for people to change and shower in.

Our trip is this Wednesday!

We will be staying at the swan for 3 nights, then Saturday of mem. day weekend hopping over to the bcv for our week stay.

I WILL be asking, nicely I may add, to have access to the showers. As a paying guest, with an evening flight of 9pm I need to shower before our flight. I've never had an issue at the WL, and I specifically chose a late flight b/c I knew we would be at a Disney deluxe resort with gym showers. Had I known there was some sort of new policy I would have chosen an earlier flight. Our plan of action is to hang at sab all afternoon on our last day....Trust me, no one wants my family on that plane smelling like a pool! I have found that a friendly attitude and a smile go a LONG way, esp. at Disney. Those that expect and are nasty don't necessarily get their way. being friendly says a lot.....

This is our first time at the bcv! Our second time at the beach club, it was 10 years ago our last stay. We love the area & the kids LOVE the pool! We were able to rent points. Did I read somewhere that at the villas, they can provide an air mattress at your request? My kids may NOT be liking sleeping together, esp. if the pull out couch is end of use as some of the threads I have been reading say about the soft goods....
