If it's the same one that is in the resort rooms, the door also has plenty space for one or more bottles of wine standing up...
And the shelves look removable, so that's more space.

See, being a Brit I didnt find anything wrong with your post :flower1:

I'm not a Brit, but I didn't find anything confusing either! Watch and read enough Harry Potter, and watch enough BBC America and British movies and you're good to go!

Side note, two summers ago we took out first trip abroad, to Rome, Paris and London...it was one of our favorite vacations ever!

:sunny:

Thank you Dee. The day went really well. Sunny getting into church and hailstones getting out :scared1:

Granny enjoyed every minute as did the main man lol. The school hold a tea party for everyone after the service and he went around finding the buns and traybakes I'd made as apparently they're the best!
High praise from an 8 year old:rotfl2::rotfl2:

He's now back in joggers and tshirt playing footy in the garden. So glad he's wearing that suit again in 7 weeks for big sisters wedding:thumbsup2
18 years ago someone told me the next time my daughter would be in a long white dress would be her wedding day! That seems like a blink of an eye ago so enjoy very moment with your kids because before you know it they're all grown up
I know those of you with kids nearing college will totally get what I mean. Pass the tissues ( and maybe the wine) lol
Thanks again everyone for everything :goodvibes

Love the Footy statement (huge soccer lovers here!!)

My oldest (of two girls) is going to be a junior in high school and I am already freaking out! I picked up my younger daughter from her last "official" day of fifth grade yesterday, and I was crying in the car! My husband works (and travels) all the time, so my girls are my whole life! My older daughter wants to get as far away as possible for college, so I feel your pain there. Most recently, she wanted to go to Washington State (and we live in TN)! Just keep focusing on that anniversary trip! I have a feeling that I will be traveling with hubby a lot:)

It as so much easier with the oldest, but then we still had the youngest home :(

Oh :grouphug:
This years trip is in response to my panic attack (after we got back from last years trip) that this summer is the likely the last whole family trip with the kids still "kids"-my oldest is a senior in the fall and turns 18. I am already in hard denial that she will be moving away to college in a year or so...I am sure to be a complete mess by time my youngest is ready for college...

I was the one telling friends that have their firsts graduating, that its not so bad! I did it and it was a breeze.......boy did the baby do a job on me!!!

Oh man, that's enough to make ME cry! I'm already dreading my kids being teenagers. I can't even thing about them finishing high school. I'm totally gonna be that mom that goes to college with her kids! It's possible I may have problems.

I have already tried to fit in her largest suitcase....didn't work. Wonder if I can hide under her bed????

Hey, folks, just 'cause they graduate, doesn't mean they never go with you again...

Three years ago, we did a FAMILY trip with kids and their spouses (three rooms at the BC) and it was a blast, as the spouses hadn't been there before, or it was they were so young that they didn't remember anything...

Then, (and this is my most favorite trip so far!!) about a year and a half ago, my daughter (who was 6 months pregnant) and I went on a Mom & Daughter trip...so very special...now, in addition to the trip my hubby and I are taking this fall to celebrate our Anniversary, I'm really really really looking forward to the trip with our first grandbaby (who was there already, although he wasn't born yet!)

They are your kids forever...graduating and moving out is just a milestone...a big one...but one of many more to come....

Sheesh...now I'm tearing up...is it too early for that bottle of wine?

No, it wasn't too early.....because it was night time by the time I was finished drinking it!!!!!!! Thanks for your positive outlook, I need a real kick in the butt to get me off this couch.

I totally understand how you all feel with the kids leaving home. Trust me, they never really leave. They might be living 3000 miles away but you will always be a huge part of their lives and they will need you as much as they do now. I cried buckets full when Jeanne left for college and then when she moved 3000 miles away. But we are closer than ever now .... more friends than mother/daughter.

Teena, I really hope my daughters and I are as close as you and Jeanne are!!! I know we are headed in that direction, but I'm still Mom with the rules in her eyes!!!! Look out when she is out of college like the oldest. I can see the three of us traveling quite often.

Somebody posted this: "Beach Club Villas Studio Fridge question! I checked the room photo thread that Dee has on the first page but I don't think my answer is there. On the remote chance that we don't finish a 750ml bottle of wine, is the Studio fridge large enough to accommodate this bottle (standing up)."

I stayed in a BCV studio in 2012 and I must have taken a picture of everything in the room except the fridge! I will be back at BCV in a studio at the end of July and will take a picture of the fridge and measure it then, but I don't know when your trip is so that might be too late to help you.
That was me! :wave2: Thanks for checking out the fridge situation since our trip isn't until thanksgiving so plenty of time. I'm hoping that the post-rehab fridge will work. Or maybe I will have to finish the bottle?!

Looking for some advice/input for our last day. Normally we check out bags in at the resort check in. Pack our backpacks with our clothes and enjoy SAB for the day. We change in the locker rooms and catch DME to the airport. We are on our "normal" timed flight home departing at 5:15pm. This trip we decided to mix it up a bit. We are having breakfast that day at 1900 Park Fare at 10:35am. I figured we would take the bus to MK and then either take the monorail or ferry to Grand Flo. I've got two questions regarding our plan. First up is what time do you think we should depart BC? I've never been to the GF so I don't know how the ferry or monorail work in regards to their timing. My next question is we will checkout of BC before we leave and check our luggage in at the resort. Can we catch the DME at any other resort? Is there some type of schedule (I seem to remember a few pages ago someone asking for timing of pick up at BC) at the various other resorts? We've never had a chance to really check out the MK resorts and thought we might take that day to go explore them after breakfast and leave to MCO from one of them. Thanks in advance!

You can NOT take ME from a resort other than the resort your reservation is at. There is no "schedule" per se, but rather they route the buses based on the need. For example if there is not a party who needs a bus, it will not come to that resort. You will be picked up at the BC at approximately 2;15. You need to be at the bus stop, with your carryons, at least 15 minutes before your scheduled pick up time, as the bus can come early and it will not wait for folks who are not there. You will not have much time to check out other resorts once you finish your breakfast. Disney recommends 90 minutes for travel.
Have Fun

For those who make their own Sunken Treasures, I squeezed half a lime into the batch I made today because it was just a wee bit too sweet. I also just used an ounce for everything (I think the recipe that's been posted has 1.5 shots of midori and a shot for everything else). I really liked the bit of tartness it added.

92 days 'til we check in. I realize I'm going to sound a bit whiny with this, but I'm so looking forward to spending my vacation days on actual vacation and not scrunched up in a hospital bed with my poor heart kid who's had surgery.

Checked into the BC yesterday. Got our request for a full balcony. Our room is somewhat far from the lounge but it's ok. I know these rooms have been recently refurbished but they're already seeing a lot of wear and tear. The paint on our door is already coming off as well as lots of scuff marks on the furniture and a stain on our floor. I'll post pictures of it later but we're in room 5698

I saw that on the doors when we checked in.

I use to work for a painting contractor ( I work for a GC now) and I think they used latex over the original oil. It will never stick. I think Disney should make the contractor repaint all the doors.

And PS.. I didn't get a welcome gift in my room.. I just realized it.. We always get a gift

Tarak: both myself and my husband tended bar when we where first married yes, we heard it all!!!

I have to say the best bar job would be the pool bar at Poly. They can see the castle while they serve drinks !!!!

Trying again to see if I an get advice on room requests :)

We are staying at YC in a Garden View Room - starting next week :)

Recommendations for best view, location (close to buses, walking to parks and proximity to SAB).

One week from now, we'll be there! I need to get in my room request. Thanks!

Just jumping on here. Doing split stay Jersey Week. Checking into BC on 10/31 then on to POR on 11/4. Will the refurbishment be completed by then? We requested full balcony on our Garden View ressie. It is our only request. On previous trips we always got our first request. We have stayed at BC before when the kids were very young so looking forward to returning. Love love the location. Looked for updated rehab pics of rooms but couldn't find any. Any one have a link or send me to where I can find some pics?

I am still working on catching up to the current pages.

Below is a response to a similar question.

If you want to request a room based on a location close to everything, request "Close to lobby". This will be the closest to the lobby/pool/transportation.

For view, wedding gazebo view is nice, as Katesdad suggests or the back entrance courtyard (lakeside) view is fun for people watching.

I have set up threads in the Resorts Photo subforum for Yacht Club Room Views and Beach Club Room Views where guests have submitted photos of the views from rooms in the various view categories so people can see samples of what it available. There are several posts about garden view rooms (see the index on page 1)

Yacht Club Room Views

:)

Hi everyone, I really enjoyed reading though most of this thread. I think it is great. I had a question I wondered if I could pick people's brains about. My husband and I (with no kids) will be staying at the yacht club in mid August to celebrate our fifth anniversary. It is our first back since our honeymoon five years ago when we stayed at the beach club. My question is what do people suggest for room requests? We generally just use the hotel to sleep and maybe eat breakfast. We like how close the yacht club is to Epcot and Hollywood studios and would prefer to have easy access out to these parks or the busses. Otherwise we just prefer not being next to noisy kids (which we had one night of our honeymoon but the rest was fine.) and so with that long winded was does anyone have recommendations on what to request?

Are you SV, GV or WV with your room request? Since you are just using the room for sleeping and changing and not worried about view, I would guess you are SV? Ask for upper floor, king bed if possible. At check-in, make sure your room is not near the service area or you get the back-up beeping at 5:00am (look at the map on page one of this thread for the location of the service area). Don't get a room near the elevator or you will get the foot traffic. You can never guarantee who your neighbors will be. All you can do is hope that you don't get the wild bunch next door. It's tough sometimes to control the rug-rats when they get excited or when they get overly-tired (unless you subscribe to the Ninja Mom theory of the use of pool noodles, and even then that might not help). If however you find yourself in the situation where there is the family next door that subscribes to the theory that they are the only ones in the place so it is okay to let the kids run wild, you can always go back to the front desk and request that a hotel manager or hotel security address the issue with the supposed adults in the room. If you have booked a GV room, go with "gazebo view" and you will not regret it. Hope you have a great time and remember, one day you may be that family where the kids are overly-excited or extremely tired and you will also be concerned about the noise they are making and what the neighbors may think. :)
Katesdad
