One week from today we will be together as a family at Disney!!! I am excited. Can't wait to step through those doors at the Beach Club once again. :yay::yay::yay:

First today, though, going to Lehigh to move some things out of DS19 dorm.

Wow - time goes fast! I hope you have a great weekend of moving and a fantastic family trip together.

Tarak - good to see the bionic baby is doing well, and happy she won the Woody doll! Keep her away from NinjaMom!

NinjaMom - do you do a boot camp for teenage boys? At 18, we are nearly through the rolling eyes teen years, but there are still some days when I'd be happy to ship him down your way!

Love lurking and reading everyone's trip plans. Can't wait to book our next trip. It seems that we've made it through the "I don't want to travel with you" portion of the teen years and my son is back on board with joining us for the next trip to Disney. Now I just have to wait for him to start college in September so we can figure out when the best dates are for his school schedule. (Plan A is to crash NM's stay at the Boardwalk, but a more likely Plan B will have us back at the BC in January.)

One week today my youngest makes his 1stHoly Communion and 8 weeks today my eldest gets married!! No I'm not stressed, not at all- honest to goodness!! Totally sane calm and centered mother here!! Any room in your case ? Lol

Have a question for people who are tea drinkers, does the tea taste good if you brew the water in the coffee maker in the room at YC?? Just wondering if that would work or if I should invest in one of those travel tea kettles & bring it with me.
Tea drinker here. Definitely run the pot a couple of times when you first arrive and then by pot 3 you should be good to go as long as no one messes up and makes coffee!

The coffee pod slots under the machine so there is no chance of a coffee taste when just brewing for water. I like to run the water through a couple of times before making tea to get it really hot.

Drawer space. How much is there? This is my MAJOR pet hate. Lack of drawer space. I'm going to cry if the Yacht Club refurb reduces drawer space. I do have my backup plan of hanging shelf thingy from Ikea.

I'm so jealous! We have 223 more days. Our June trip last year we booked at Christmas time so we only had to wait about 170 days. The second trip was very spur of the moment (thanks Mom & Dad), so we had to wait only a month. This 200+ day wait is rough! :faint:

~Cari~ pluto:

I have a countdown app that goes by days or months. I go by months until I'm close to 100 days. Somehow, 8 months seems shorter than 200+ days. But then 99 days seems like a shorter time period than 3+ months. Goofy, I know.

Bionic kid refused to answer to her name this morning, insisting she was Elsa. I blame Ninja Mom.

Thank you! Do most of the refurb room sleep 5? We need one of them to have s pull down bed

Double digits! Not sure why, but the time always seems to fly when that number dips below 100.

We are at 28 days but yeah...when we hit 100 it just flew by!!! Pretty soon it will be 7 and then it will be -7:sad::sad::sad:

I believe you have to request a refurbished room that sleeps 5 unless you have five in your party...in which case you will get a room with a day bed! That's what we will have in 4 weeks!

One of Ny FB Friends has just posted about the crows at Beach Club. Maintenance trying to get rid of them and they are swooping on the hawk as well. Anyone got a live report?

Hi there! :) super new to posting but have been reading this awesome forum for months now! Our trip to YC is next week and was just wondering if anyone has any tips for making the most of it with two little ones (3 year old twins)? :) We've stayed at CBR but the treks to the pool and bus stop were a bit too much for them and we are really excited to be able to walk into Epcot! My husband and I have been debating club level, if not for this trip then for our next one in August, and any thoughts on that would be appreciated as well!!! :) thanks so much for any advice!

You will never want to stay in anything but a deluxe again! We used to stay in moderates (usually Coronado Springs) until we discovered how much better we liked the deluxe resorts! Coronado is really spread out too...too much walking! As for CL, we love the convenience of having breakfast, snacks, appetizers, and dessert in the lounge for us...as well as wine and beer (but it's not for everyone). You should check out the 2015 Club Level (CL) Information and Help thread to see if you think you would like it.

None of the rooms at the BC have a pull down bed. The rooms will either have a day bed or you can request a roll away bed. :)

Sitting at MCO with three hours to spare, so here's a quick review of my recent stay at BC CL from 5/2 - 5/8 (we stayed an extra night at WL).

1) Not all CL rooms on 5th floor have full balconies. I probably should have realized that, but the last two rooms at the end of the long hallway each have two Juliet balconies.

2) The BC CL staff is not as friendly as the YC CL staff. They looked a little sad at times, rarely said hello or anything, and added little to our vacation. I actually ended up emailing the guest services manger regarding a few other "bizarre" things that happened during our first full day generally unrelated to the CL staff. He ended up finding me in the hallway and we had a very nice conversation but I can say that in my 10 Disney trips and stays as many different hotels, it was the most "bizarre" stay. When we arrived, no one asked to unload luggage from car or to store luggage. In fact, as we stood there waiting for my partner to park the car, someone actually asked if we needed a cab to the airport. Also, no one said goodbye when we left the club level or the hotel on our last day. It just generally felt very unDisney.

3) The rooms definitely lack storage if you use drawers. The last two rooms at the end of thing hallway on the 5th floor are enormous but definitely lack drawer space.

4) You could definitely hear sanding or drilling or thumping in the rooms on the 5th floor during the day. These were the rooms as the end of the long hallway.

5) Online check in and indicating an early arrival did not result in the rooms being ready. Not a major problem but worth noting that we ended up waiting six hours for our rooms.

6) They asked us at the club level check in desk what time we wanted mousekeeping. They didn't come during that time during the first full day. We honestly didn't know that it wasn't a guarantee (no one said so) and one of the club level hostesses actually got a little snotty when my sister, very nicely, asked. Additionally, the mouse keeper didn't know that we had even made that request.

We planned on staying at WL for one additional night after the BC stay. The CMs seemed generally friendlier and happier. Maybe my expectations were ff but I actually ended up getting a portion of one nights' stay refunded to me even though I never asked for it. I emailed the guest services manager because I wanted him to have the feedback so he could address my concerns for future guests.

Hi!
Rent the double stroller! DS loved being able to sit in the stroller at 4 and 5 years old. I'm even thinking it might be wise to get it when he's 6 on our next trip. Not only did it save us from his overly-tired-I-can't-walk-another-step meltdowns, but it made it easy to navigate the crowds. I wouldn't have brought the stroller from home, but being able to rent the sturdy plastic one was very nice. :thumbsup2

That's so funny! I didn't make any comments about the double stroller, but that's actually the first thing that popped into my head...and my girls are 16 and 11 now! They used to even nap in those strollers sometimes. I'm pretty sure DD11 used a stroller until she was 7 at Disney-lol! I've seen kids much older than that too. No parent wants to hear the "my feet hurt" whining! The double strollers can hold extra packages/bags too!

water from the tap sometimes also has a bad taste.
In my opinion the tap water in the Orlando area tastes awful. I bring my "Mr. Coffee" Iced Tea maker and use the tap water to brew my iced tea. I find that I can't taste the bad taste in the tap water once I have brewed my iced tea and added the lemon and sweetner. I hope that helps!

I asked YOU to be my minion but NoooOOOOoooo, you were too busy so now you have been replaced by a 3 year old! THAT will teach you a lesson! I still have openings for a henchman and an assistant so you better get your application in.

NinjaMom - do you do a boot camp for teenage boys? At 18, we are nearly through the rolling eyes teen years, but there are still some days when I'd be happy to ship him down your way!

Why Yes, I am running a boot camp for teenage boys! Many parents have discovered the joys to taking away the cell phones when the teens misbehave but Ninja Mom pluses that punishment by making them go clothes shopping with me or having them accompanying me to the salon when I get my hair done. Nothing strikes fear in the heart of a teenage boy like the realization that they will be pushing a cart full of granny panties and feminine supplies as Ninja Mom roams the isles at Walmart!

(Plan A is to crash NM's stay at the Boardwalk, but a more likely Plan B will have us back at the BC in January.) Couldn't you just come in December when I am there and forget to leave until January? I am shocked that this thought has not occurred to you! Dee is doing this very thing at the end of August.

Bionic kid refused to answer to her name this morning, insisting she was Elsa. I blame Ninja Mom.

I have an alibi for this one. My receipt for the granny panties purchased at Walmart is admissible in court!

Thanks for posting this review.

I have heard that the occupancy rates at the Beach Club have been consistently high so that would probably account for the room not being ready.

Generally speaking I am not a fan of the valets at the entrance to the Disney hotels. It is my understanding that the people that stand outside at that desk are NOT Disney employees but rather a group that is subcontracted from an outside company. It can be really hit or miss with those employees and there seems to be no accountability on their behalf to customer service. I know for a fact that the Bell services employees that work INSIDE the hotel are excellent, especially the CMs that work at the Beach Club. I'm not sure why the outside valets are not Disney employees but I really wish they would get their act together with regards to proper customer service.

If you remember the name of that snotty CM I would definitely recommend that you send off an email to guest services describing what happened. More than likely a manager will see that report and the employee will be informed that his/her behavior is a problem and needs to be worked on. It's a small consolation but sending that email will definitely have an impact. Here is the contact information from page one of this thread:

email wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

or send a letter to:

When you write or email, please include your name, address, phone number and email address.

If it is a comment specific to the Yacht & Beach Club, you can write to the General Manager of the resort (perhaps copy Guest Communications as well):
