Spending my Mother's Day in a post vacation haze. We had the most perfect vacation at the YC and Disney world. I really never wanted to leave. I was happy to come back to leaves on the trees and green everywhere. But I certainly don't want to start back to real life tomorrow. Thanks to everyone on this board for all the great info. I hope to keep following - still not sure where we will stay our next trip!

I have no problems with periodic resort upkeep, but from poking on Facebook and on these threads, it just looked like the Poly was going to be a big mess, so we agreed to try it when it's fully up and running sometime soon. I'm comfortable with our CR pick. It'll be in the garden wing, but it'll be peaceful, and we stayed at BLT a few years back and the walk to the main building is no big deal. Plus as DP puts it, we can now cross CR off our list!
I'm glad to hear that your baby girl is doing better. :tinker:

June 12? So jealous!
I know we'll be gone before August 30, so we won't be able to make the meet. Sigh.
But maybe we'll overlap a bit?
Our dates are 8/14-8/19 @ CR, then 8/19-24 @ BC.

Oh, and HAPPY MOTHER's DAY to all the Moms on this BC/YC thread!
I've met some great ones here!
(Yes, I'm speaking to you, @TeenaS , @YCFAN , @tarak , @DisneyMomx7 , @mommyrosa2 , @natebenma etc....) :daisy::daisy::daisy:

So far we've stayed at the Poly twice, WL once, AKL/AKV five times (I think), and YC. We'll have BC taken care of this August. I pushed for Boardwalk at one time, but everyone nixed the "creepy clown pool." I'd love to try CR and GF some day.

We're at the BC from 8/19-8/23. Would love to meet up if possible. Amara has been asking who will be there from last summer. :)

Hope everyone had a wonderful mother's day. We spent a few hours at Hershey Park (which isn't Disney, but still nice). Am taking a few quiet minutes to check out the boards and drink a Sunken Treasure (which isn't quite the same at home, but still lovely). I forgot to pick up the sprite/7up for the fizzy part.

Sitting at MCO with three hours to spare, so here's a quick review of my recent stay at BC CL from 5/2 - 5/8 (we stayed an extra night at WL).

1) Not all CL rooms on 5th floor have full balconies. I probably should have realized that, but the last two rooms at the end of the long hallway each have two Juliet balconies.

2) The BC CL staff is not as friendly as the YC CL staff. They looked a little sad at times, rarely said hello or anything, and added little to our vacation. I actually ended up emailing the guest services manger regarding a few other "bizarre" things that happened during our first full day generally unrelated to the CL staff. He ended up finding me in the hallway and we had a very nice conversation but I can say that in my 10 Disney trips and stays as many different hotels, it was the most "bizarre" stay. When we arrived, no one asked to unload luggage from car or to store luggage. In fact, as we stood there waiting for my partner to park the car, someone actually asked if we needed a cab to the airport. Also, no one said goodbye when we left the club level or the hotel on our last day. It just generally felt very unDisney.

3) The rooms definitely lack storage if you use drawers. The last two rooms at the end of thing hallway on the 5th floor are enormous but definitely lack drawer space.

4) You could definitely hear sanding or drilling or thumping in the rooms on the 5th floor during the day. These were the rooms as the end of the long hallway.

5) Online check in and indicating an early arrival did not result in the rooms being ready. Not a major problem but worth noting that we ended up waiting six hours for our rooms.

6) They asked us at the club level check in desk what time we wanted mousekeeping. They didn't come during that time during the first full day. We honestly didn't know that it wasn't a guarantee (no one said so) and one of the club level hostesses actually got a little snotty when my sister, very nicely, asked. Additionally, the mouse keeper didn't know that we had even made that request.

We planned on staying at WL for one additional night after the BC stay. The CMs seemed generally friendlier and happier. Maybe my expectations were ff but I actually ended up getting a portion of one nights' stay refunded to me even though I never asked for it. I emailed the guest services manager because I wanted him to have the feedback so he could address my concerns for future guests.
We we there at the same time.
I agree about some of the CL staff.. That CJ needs a real attitude adjustment but everyone else was fine.
I also noticed that they never seem to say "enjoy the day" or anything when you walked by the CL desk.. Weird because YC, GL and WL always make a comment as you walk to the elevators.

With all that said, DD and I decided to move our July trip from Poly to BC CL.. She loved the food they offered and loved the new rooms.

Hahahahaha!!

I stayed at BWI once but the creepy clown pools keeps me from going back!!

Hello there. This is my first post on the dis boards. I wanted to use it to say how fun this forum is! Also, myself, my wife and two children will be returning to the world in June. We are staying at the Beach club and I can't wait!
And may I be the first to welcome you and congratulations on post #1. They always seem the hardest to do. Hope you and the famly have a great time at the BC in June.

Another question!
we are treating my parents to a trip to wdw in September. My dad has a very bad back, and can not sleep comfortable in a bed. He will need a comfy chair, or a day bed/couch to sleep on sitting up. are there rooms at bc that have this? Do the newly refurbished rooms have this?

Have you considered a DVC studio? Studios have a couch. Some also have a "sleep chair" which means it folds out like a sofa bed. The BCV studios do not have sleep chairs yet, but I believe they are being added as part of the current renovation project.

Edited: Studios do have a couch, but apparently the "sleep chair" is in the one-bedroom villas at some resorts, not the studio. Also, see what Teena posted after I wrote this, because Teena knows what she's talking about.

However, I'm not sure what position your father sleeps in. If you've ever bought a couch, you know that some have high backs and some have low backs. Some have high arms and some have low arms. The DVC couches have low backs and low arms so I don't think they would support the back of your head if you wanted to sleep sitting up.

Here's the sofa at Animal Kingdom Lodge - I assume it's similar at BCV:

Kebby .... rooms at the Y&B vary since the rooms are different shapes and sizes. Some have chairs, some don't. Some have daybeds, some do not. Some have extra chests of drawers, some don't. I think if it were me, I'd call one of the medical supply companies that rent sleeping chairs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc. I've seen them over the years deliver the sleeping chairs to the rooms and then pick them up after the guest checks out. It would probably be the exact type of chair he needs for sleeping. And then I would call the Y&B about ten days prior to arriving to tell them a chair was ordered and request a room that would have no problem fitting the chair into it. Just an option to consider.

Hi, we're hoping to return to the BC next year. We had a standard room last time and it overlooked Epcot and next to the secret door and had room to fit a rollaway in.

Looking to book a garden view and wondering if the Epcot view is also classed in the garden view category. And on the UK site it has the standard room sleeping unto 5 with some having a daybed but the garden view rooms it has only 4 and no mention of a daybed. I'm wondering if some of the garden view rooms do come with daybeds or if they are smaller and will not take a rollaway. I'm sure in the U.S. Site they state garden view can sleep up to 5!?

Thanks for clarifying.

To the August BC/YC peeps, I will be leaving prior to the meet, BUT I see I overlap with several of you. We are there 8/13-20, my birthday is 8/19 and I'd love to treat anyone to a celebratory drink by the pool with me (or at WS). I'll be supereasy to locate as I am continually counting children to make sure I have everyone...1-2-3-4-5, I have 5 right? :rotfl:

What are your Hard Rock dates?

I will miss you at the BC for the meet, but this just in... my family will be at Hard Rock from Aug 26-28. I am afraid I will just miss you there too, but if not, let's make a date!

That is so nice of you. Unfortunately our dates don't overlap or I would gladly look for you to say hi and celebrate your bday. We don't arrive until the 8/29. Maybe next time.
