Please forgive me if this has been answered before - I looked but couldn't find it! How big are the the safes in the rooms? Looking to put a couple Ipads in there. And what do most people do with their laptops? We are staying CL for the first time - do they provide any options for them? Excited to be there tomorrow morning!! thanks for your help - this is the best thread! :yay:

I believe most people just leave them in their room. Jeanne does when we stay there.

We easily fit our ipad and a few other things in our safe, so I think it would safely fit two ipads.:goodvibes We didn't bring our laptop so I can't help you with that one.

I do have a post in the "Other Useful Info" section on Page 1. When researching this, it seems that the rooms may have different sized safes!!!

There is a lockup in bell services if you want to do that. Not sure if club level has any special accomodations. I think the answer is no, but it doesn't hurt to ask (and then share the info with us!)

Will it fit???

Does an ipad fit in the room safe?

safewithipadMsCoz2000.jpg

MsCoz2000 provided the photo of the safe.

We have had conflicting reports of the sizes of the safe in the resort rooms (and throughout the different resorts at Disney, for that matter). It seems like rooms can have safes of different sizes.

If you have valuables that won't fit in the safe in your room, there are a couple of things you can do:

The front desk has a safe deposit box you can use.

You can check your items at Bell Services and they will lock it in the cage.

Here are a few experiences from guests:

I was able to fit two iPad's, a Kindle, a wallet, and a wallet size zippered pouch in our BC safe. Nothing got smooshed or broken. I wish it were a tad larger so I could have put the kid's iPod's into it, but oh well. I was impressed with all I DID fit in there. :)

from a recent guest in a Deluxe Room said:
I just returned from the Beach Club today, so this is very fresh to me. Mind you, we stayed in a Deluxe Room, Club level, so I can't speak for the typical BC room, but the in-room safe is exactly as you described. The size made it useless to us as we were hoping to store our iPads and they were too large for the safe. Additionally, the safe does have a key closure, rather than a combination which wasn't ideal to us either. I'm hoping that the safes will eventually be switched out because they are just archaic and inconvenient.

Going back to the safe question I do think there are different sizes, last year my macbook pro wouldn't fit in the safe in BWI CL but it has fit in the safe in OKW.

Safe dimensions: coming (but may not be helpful if the safes have a variety of sizes)

Hi Everyone,

Checking in 07/01 Beach Club and that evening we have ADR at the Whispering Canyon. Any suggestions on best/quickest way to get there. After dinner we are thinking of going to MK for a ride or two.

We do have a car but after driving down from Massachusetts I am not sure anyone will ne thrilled on jumping back into the minivan. :confused3

All comments welcomed :thumbsup2

They may not feel like jumping back into the minivan, but driving will take you about 20 minutes. Any other method will take at least 40, probably an hour. I'd definitely drive any resort to resort trip.

We will be checking into the YC tomorrow morning!!! :cool1::cool1:

As a family with teenagers we try to be as technology free as possible on vacation. (Otherwise my DS19 would be walking around with his phone out ALL the time.:rolleyes1) So, I probably won't post while we are there, but I will when we get back next week.

Thanks for all the help!

Oh it definitely doesn't get me down. I feel sorry for her. Imagine never being able to go to Disney because you are afraid to travel:eek::eek: I love Disney and have no problem with those who just don't get it :confused3
Now if only these 20 days would go by faster :woohoo:

:thumbsup2 good for you! I'm the same way, let them role their eyes! We know it's really magical!

Quite a few of my friends and family don't get it either, husband included :rotfl:
Doesn't bother me either!!
Your 20 days will speed by!

I love chatting with like minded people. :yay: The funny thing about my DH is that he thinks I'm a little over the top with Disney, but he absolutely loves it there (though he doesnt talk about it to others other than its fun). He was so sad when I went with my aunt last month (he's the one who told me to go with her), and the closer it got to the trip them more he'd say "I can't believe you're going without me" or "I wish I was going" or "I can't believe you're eating at Ohana without me.". He's so excited about bounce back in Oct!

Not this year, we are getting APs to go in the beginning of December To be total Christmas geeks and then we will go to F&W next fall before the APs expire. It's awesome and I love it! Try to go during the week - it's the least crowded.

I'm jealous of your Christmas trip, my DH is not allowed to take time off of work from thanksgiving-Christmas because it's their busy time of year. Have an awesome trip!

I just got AP last month & keep thing about all these trips I want to go on! Especially with this AirTran/Southwest 72 hr sale!:confused3

Maybe I'm too trusting but I just put electronics in my suitcase, i never locked them up! The only thing I have ever put in safe was my real jewelry & money.

We check in on Saturday! Maybe I'll run into you :) Have a great trip!

Thanks to everyone for their live reports! I love living vicariously through you!

Has anyone else noticed the phenomenon of the closer you get to your trip, the more time you spend on the DIS? My summer has been much less productive than it should have been due to my constant feeding of my Disney obsession!

I'm going to share with you a tip on how to save even more money on your Disney vacation. If you have a Target debit or credit card, you save 5% on your purchases. The $50 Disney gift card they sell is part of this extra 5%. So for every $100 in Disney gift cards you buy, you only pay $95. It doesn't sound like much, but when you are spending $1,000's of dollars on a Disney vacation, it can add up. Buy $3,000 worth of gift cards and save $150! I've been doing this since the spring.....a few hundred here and there.....then calling Disney to have the cards applied to my balance. It has really saved us a good chunk of change! The only caveat is that if you cancel your trip and have already paid using the gift cards, the money goes back to the gift cards.

By the way, we leave in exactly one month! I still have so much to do...bathing suit shopping for my daughter, make my window and door decorations, find all of our Disney t-shirts, buy enough sunscreen, finalize our ever changing ADR's......

No problem! Once again, I will keep you on the list with an indication that you have defected to POR ;)

There's still time between now and December, so maybe a discount will appear and you will find your way back, but in any case I know you will have a fabulous trip!!!

And you absolutely need to stick around, especially now that we have branched out from YC/BC to absolutely hilarious POR reports!

I will update the Be Our Guest list accordingly. Sounds like an awesome split!!!

:thumbsup2

You know, I would never have been back and forth or learned about switching and what not if it had not been for this wonderful group, but actually I think there is more splitting of stays than anything, so I guess that would be my next move!! Stay tuned, I may just split my time!!! But, I am booking an ADR at Yachtsman because I absolutely have to show my DSis my beloved "home"!!! To not see the gingerbread carousel would be a travesty!!!

Yes, but The Muppets travel by map ;) Disney has the rights to that!!!

Movin' right along!

BTW- there is a ride at US, Rip Ride Rocket where you set the song that you want to listen to during the ride. I have read that there is a "secret track" where you can select "Rainbow Connection" even though it isn't listed as one of the choices. I SO want to do that. Especially if I am riding with the teen!

Thanks for sharing your money saving tip. This is what I have been doing...

Through my son's school, we can purchase gift cards at face value, and the school receives a percentage of the profits. For Disney cards, the school gets a 2% rebate. But for Sam's Club/Walmart cards, you get a 2.5% rebate. I have been purchasing Sam's Club Cards and using them to purchase Disney gift cards ($47 for a $50 card- 6% savings)

School gets a little, I get a lot!

:goodvibes

So I told my sister today about the AirTran/Southwest 72 hr sale, and she asked if we could take my 3yr old nephew! Decisions, decisions! My sister won 4day PH tickets at a silent auction at church, so would just need tickets for nephew as I have AP. My dilemma is that I went last mo with my aunt & have oct trip to BC w/ DH already, so lots of money going to Disney! But then I think I can really get my money's worth out of AP!

Anyone know if AP rates are out for Sept? I hate that I can't access AP site because of changes with new AP!

I am hoping a BC expert knows what I am talking about and can help locate this...

A long time ago, I ran across a "map" of the floors of the BC...not the rooms themselves but the actual floors...like what room numbers correlated to what type of rooms. For example, where and what number the suites, deluxe, and regular sized rooms are.

Does anyone know what I am talking about and where to find it?

TIA,
Bridget

:welcome: to this thread, Bridget!

Do you have an upcoming trip or are you in the planning stages?

:goodvibes

I think I have the map you are looking for posted on the first page, in the Beach Club Resort post (Post 8):

Room Numbers: I hesitantly post this map. Please use with caution. It is outdated, pre resort rehab and prior to the addition of the Beach Club Concierge Lounge (the lounge is now on the 5th floor where you see the word "ICE"). The view categories are also different. When this map was created, there were only standard view rooms and water view rooms (no garden view), so many of these rooms now have a different view category than what is indicated on this map.

Natebenma,
Try code 902. That was rainbow connection 2 years ago. My kids loved the secret list. I have it from 2 years ago if you want it.

Trying to convince my DS to do BC next year. I have to see if the military discount or free dining is in the cards for the end of August. Of course, he wants to cruise too. Um, you have to earn more money than you are this summer to make that happen.

Would you like me to add you to the Be Our Guest list for November?

:cool1:

Yes there is a map for the Yacht Club, too. It lives in the Yacht Club room section, Post 9, on the first page of this thread:
