I finally added the little video of our trip down in my signature after the YC Review and Dining links. Lots of little BC/YC (with pretty clear snippets of the sand bottom SAB) moments in there if anyone wants to take a peek. :goodvibes

May I also get the name of the agency, please? Anyway to save money on Disney is a winner in my book :goodvibes
Also, 15 days until our Thanksgiving trip to YC!! :cool1: My 6 year old has been crossing days off of his calendar for the past month and he updates me every day on how much longer until Disney!! YAY!

Is there any more recent information available for the BC refurbishment that is being rumored for next year? I have a reservation in February and was considering upgrading to CL since I will have 3 teenagers and an 9 yo with me - it would be very nice if they could go to the lounge at their whim and I didn't have to think about where breakfast would be every day - but after just finding out today about the refurb I'm rethinking the reservation.

I would love that info if you could PM me. Thanks!:beach:smokin:

:goodvibes So nice to meet and talk to you too, Nannette! I know your trip was terrific because I have read a little about it already! ::yes::

Our trip was wonderful. Lot's of special things happened to us. I will try to get to a quick recap over the weekend.

Is it completely crazy that I have been asking my agent for a quote and waiting- she knew exactly which dates and where I want to be. So today they sent out the email that my dates are open, I come here and other people got notified and book already days ago... so I am nervous that they will sell out or charge me more?
If people pay more to book later, that just makes me nervous. Now I am wondering if she is off this week or something. :scared: Last year our discount was over 60%... for two weeks a 10% difference could be a huge number.

I Googled this because this is the first I've heard of it. There was a DVC News article in September that carpet samples were being tested at BCV for a carpet refurb in late 2014 for BC and BCV. I'd be very interested to know more as well.

On another note, I discovered something surprising -for the 4 days/3 nights I want BC or YC next fall, it's actually the same price for BC garden view or a BCV deluxe studio. YC isn't available unless I want to pay a hefty amount for CL, not an option for me at this time.

So my question to everyone - which would you prefer, BC garden view or BCV deluxe studio? I'll have 3-4 adults in the room.

Pros for BCV:
  • Smaller pool and hottub nearby
  • Kitchenette in studio, could save money on food by reheating leftovers or bringing groceries.
  • Closer to bus stop (a guesstimate from eyeballing the distance on a map).

Cons for BCV:
  • It's further away from SAB.
  • The rooms look dated compared to BC rooms.
  • 1-2 adults would have to sleep on the sofabed.

I'd get housekeping every day with either choice since I'd book BCV through Disney and not rent DVC points.

Anything else I should consider? Thanks for your thoughts.

One plus for the BCV studio is that it will have a balcony, and not all of the BC rooms have a balcony.

Yes, BCV is closer to the bus stop and the pool is really nice, but it isn't really too inconvenient to the SAB pool, since you can just cut through the lobby to get there.

But the Beach Club rooms are much nicer than the studios and that is what I would choose.

We still do not have any firm dates announced. Last we heard, I think from a guest in late September or early October, was that he overheard some CMs saying the final designs had not been approved yet and that it takes several months for everything to be ordered.

That leads us to believe that the work probably won't be stared until at least the spring, but again, we have not heard anything official.

I don't think the refurb would have any impact on your trip.

The refurb will not be starting in February. They are talking early summer.

Teena do you think the CL rooms will be done by end of Sept? I know you told me they are starting up there first.

No way of knowing because I haven't heard a definite start date. They said six months after design is approved. As of last weekend, I hadn't heard it was approved. They said the lounge was the first thing to be done, then the Presidential Sutie and the CL rooms (wing by wing ... of course not all CL rooms at the same time). If they started in May or June, possibly some of the CL rooms would be done by end of September. Are you asking because you want a newly refurbed room or because you are afraid of maybe being inconvenienced? If you want a refurbed room, I'd say it's a long shot. If you are afraid of being inconvenienced, I would not hesitate to stay on CL during rehab. They do it in such a way that guests rarely know it's even happening. If you are there while the lounge is being refurbed, you get to use the Presidential Suite which is a short hop down the hall from the lounge. That in itself is a treat!! And they take one wing off at a time so as not to inconvenience other guests. I personally would not hesitate to stay at any Disney resort during rehab.

I got in touch with my TA over a week ago and asked about the exclusive and she said she expected it within 1-2 weeks. To my surprise, she contacted me this past Friday (4 days ago) and I was fully booked on Saturday. The e-mail announcement was sent out this morning. I doubt they will sell out at this point. I was asked to spread the word, which I did, so there is likely availability. Last year, I booked in January for an August trip (had to cancel) and the savings were at the max. I would assume the discount would decrease as time went on...why not ask the other poster when he booked?

Good luck!

Thank you, Wood Nymph! I think the rooms being that much nicer at BC will make all the difference with 3-4 adults. It would be a different story if we were considering a 1-bedroom instead of a studio at the BCV, but with a studio and only for 3 nights, I don't know that I'd really save much money with a kitchenette, especially since the BC rooms have fridges, and we'll be enjoying the F&WF a lot! :)

Just wanted to stop by and say hello - or maybe that should be ahoy, given that I'm staying at Yacht Club in May. :)

It's my first time staying at a deluxe resort (previously been very happy at Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans but decided to splurge this time after a run in with a very enthusiastic tour group of teenagers during my last stay :D ). I booked it through a non-Disney website, which I won't mention - got a very good price but the downside is I think I'll miss out on all the MB excitement until I get there. Hey ho. There's always a trade-off.

I'm still ploughing my way through the pages of this thread :surfweb: and am picking up lots of good tips so thank you to all. I'm a solo Disney traveller so if anyone has anything solo specific they want to share that would be uber cool.
