Thinking about changing from deluxe to regular dining plan and adding on a day. We will be club level at the BC so to me it's makes more sense, plus an extra day at Disney is always a good thing. Anyone opinions??

My vote is to ditch the Deluxe dining plan. Everyone in my family is an enthusiastic eater and we did the DxDP once, and that was without CL and it was WAY too much food, and we spent WAY too much time eating.

The BC/YC deal IS too great to pass up. I, too, am tempted by the Poly as it's only about $100 more, but I'm concerned about the construction. Besides, I have yet to stay at YC (or BC) as every time we have booked we've had to cancel for one reason or another. I am determined to sit poolside at Stormalong Bay next August!!!

We're in the same boat, got the deal this past August and stayed at YC. We were hoping to try Poly and get back to MK area but the pool being closed is a deal breaker and the kids loved SAB so much if the trip happens it's going to me YC again I think. We did love the YC and the area, but we've always stayed MK area in the past and missed it a bit. GF is $650 more than BC/YC And that's a big chunk of change. Still a good deal, but...

BTW just read all 40 pages of Dee's latest trip report today. Phew!!!

I'd NEVER consider deluxe dining while staying on club level. Plan dining plan is more than enough!!

And I owe you a BIG apology, Couchy. :headache: :flower3: My list of things to do had our meet with Teena on Monday not Sunday. So I never got to meet you!! :( Even though we were both staying on the 4th floor near the quiet pool, even though we exchanged photos, we never crossed paths. I hope that future trips let us meet. Again, sorry I mixed up the days.

I did get to chat with Teena Sunday after you and I talked and again on Monday morning. Silly me never took a photo, though! :upsidedow

No problem, we were running around like crazy anyways :goodvibes

From what I understand from someone that used their deal last August, it was a huge discount ... I think more than 50% off.

Yes it worked out to about 53%. We stayed YC! I can PM anyone that is interested. We're not allowed to mention the agency name on these boards. Just PM me if you want info.

We got in late so it wound up being around 40% for us

Where are you staying for the Universal part of the trip?

For our first trip in 2011 we stayed at the Portofino and this past summer we stayed at the Hard Rock (LOVED IT!)

I have detailed trip reports with chapter links for the 2011 visit linked in my signature (Welcome Foolish Muggles) and over on the Universal Trip Report board, I have a report in progress- so far the review of the Hard Rock and the Universal part of the trip are
:cheer2:

Dee, we will be at Universal the 19th - 22nd. Planning on the HRH. We have 3 boys ages 13,13,14. Thinking they might enjoy HRH. I have a lot of research to do about the Dark side. I will have to check out your trip reports. I do not know anything at all about Universal. Should be fun planning.

As a side note, I got a fantastic rate at the BC using the AAA discount. Seems higher than 25%off when I calculate it out. Kinda shocked about it, and really happy. Thanks for adding me to the list!!

As soon as I hit the 180 day mark I nailed down the top 3 reservations!

1. Mothers Day Dinner at California Grill (Day 4 of our trip)
2. Supercalifragilistic Breakfast for my twin daughers' birthday. It will be their "golden" birthday (they turn 8 on the 8th), so it was important to book it.
3. Ohana dinner! I'm a big Polynesian Culture fan, and love that kind of food, so we're doing Ohana on the first Saturday we're there.

Exited. Very excited. In fact, today, where we live, it snowed! I can only imagine being at StormAlong Bay today, where I'm sure it was most pleasant and enjoyable, instead of "Honey, have you seen my gloves?"

As I log in to the My Disney Experience app and see those wonderful words, "2 days to go" I wanted to say thank you for all the wonderful tips and post.

As this is our first time heading to Beach Club, and this board had a lot to do with us choosing BC in the first place, I just wanted to officially and emphatically say, "Thank You" to everyone.

Cheers,
Dave

:offtopic:

The Hard Rock, well, rocked! Lots of detailed info about the resort in my TR.

I remember what it was like planning for US/IoA for the first time- the Universal forums on this site are really good and I found The Ultimate Guide to the Ultimate Theme Park Adventure by Seth Kubersky and Kelly Monaghan was a fantastic resource.

The Photo Connect service (like Photopass) was awesome even though we didn't take advantage of a lot of the photo opportunities.

I am finding the same planning issues for our first trip to DL this summer. Although there are some familiar things I feel like a total newbie! Especially about the dining.

If you have any specific questions that you don't want to ask here, you can email me at beachclubdee @ yahoo

What is the supercalifragilistic breakfast? That sounds interesting

Hi Dee,
Well, you can add us to the BOG list. We are 23 to 31 August, 2014. Yacht Club. Kids thought BC looked too bright! Guess staying at the Grand Californian this summer got them liking a more mature looking hotel.

We are also doing USO a few days before that, so off to book the Portofino. That's also my kids preference. I like it too. Hoping they still offer the AP discount, but at least I will book a SMSM rate for now.

Have a great time at DLR. We've been twice, and I think that's enough for now. We also did USH this summer, and my kids liked that alot too.

It is at 1900 Park Faire. It has Mary Poppins, Alice, the Mad Hatter and we also saw Pooh. It was a great buffet, my husband loved the omelet station.
