2012? No Problem...but when?

It seems that other members of the family have decided that other things will be happening during that time frame that are much more important than taking a 'world tour'!

(since I am not allowed to make that big announcement here for another few weeks...I will keep it as vague as I can without jumping up and down and shouting! It is good news of the best kind!)

Timing was everything in that trip! We had to take the trip as soon as Miss B got out of school so we could go before it got too hot and before the beaches got too crowded. Moving it even two weeks will change the dynamics of the trip too much to be able to take it the way we intended...

So...the princess will have to settle for a quick beach trip of only a few days. Probably the Gulf Coast. But the timing of it will be hard to work on as well.

Of course, the Disney trip in just 8 weeks has taken a snag of an unexpected type.

I am a habitual planner. I plan everything. I replan everything. I do this on a daily basis.

Somehow I managed to over spend by $300 for the month of October. (yes, I know it is only the first of October) Seems I spent $300 over budget on GAS this last month and borrowed it from the October budget. Now, I am looking at not having enough money to pay the items on the budget that HAVE to be paid. Things like cell phone bills!

To do this is so out of character for me! Seriously! I guess seeing that tremendous balance in my checking account (after taking the money out of the savings account to pay for Disney) gave me a sense of extra money...even though I only took out the exact money to the penny to pay for Disney!

There are people that think we live extravagantly...mainly because we go to Disney each year and take at least one beach trip a year. But what they don't know is we scrimp and save all year long to make that happen. We know the importance of family time and making memories, so we are willing, as a family, to make these sacrifices for the things that are important to us!

Any way, now I have to get up the courage to tell hubby that I can't pay my share of the bills for the month of October... and hope he doesn't put an end to Disney all together! (maybe I can get the kids to all give me money for my birthday instead of presents...that will help a tiny bit LOL!)

And in the same Drama mode.... (which there seems to never be a short supply of in our family!)...My daughter in law went to the ER on Saturday am...as in the pre dawn 3am hours! She has a kidney stone. It is just below the maximum size they will let pass on its own. She has another 12 hours...after that they will decide to operate. She hates to take pain meds, and the accompanying feeling of loss of control. She has been on two different pain meds since Saturday and is not happy at all.

I go to the surgeon today to learn my fate...surgery for gall bladder removal... or more tests...

Nini

WOW Nini!!! It sounds like you have a TON going on!!!

Bummer about the budget woes... I know that feeling all too well, it seems to happen to us once in a while too, but we always find a way to make it work.

Can't wait to hear more about the edited trip plans. :)

D~

I hope everything went well with the doctor today. It sounds like a great reason to change your summer plans.

I guess I have been avoiding posting the outcome of my visit with the surgeon...

I don't get an option about the surgery. Due to the location of the stone and the fact that my liver and pancreas are showing signs of inflammation...it has to come out.

Tuesday (still don't have an actual time...hoping for that when I go for my pre op on Thursday) I will go in and have my gall bladder removed. It is outpatient surgery and I should be back to normal in a day or two, and back to full force within 2 weeks.

The plan is that this will not affect the Disney trip at all, since we leave for Disney in 7 and a half weeks.

Drama...seriously. I am way too old to continually have this much drama! I want to plan a normal, boring, run of the mill Disney trip!

Nini

Oh Nini - that really sucks. I hope you are able to recouperate very quickly before your trip, and I hope the surgery goes well. Please keep us updated. (((Hugs)))

:grouphug: Feeling that something is out of your hands is never easy. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

Ah Life!

Sometimes good and sometimes bad!

I am looking forward to Tuesday and the surgery...just so I can get it over with and back to more important Disney stuff... but I am dreading the fact that I can have nothing by mouth from midnight Monday on...and...I don't have to arrive at the hospital until 11:30!!! With surgery expected to be around 2....meaning I would not be getting to leave the hospital until 4...and that is IF everything stays on schedule!

Of course, the day my daughter and daughter in law had their surgeries he was running about an hour and a half behind...by 10 am! So who knows..

Since I have to get up at 5 to get Miss B off to school...and no coffee...you might want to avoid my neck of the woods on Tuesday...It ain't going to be very pretty! LOL...

The princess has a bit of a scare this week...her foot got a little more swollen and turned red. She took a trip to the surgeon's office the next morning. They think it is just that she is wearing shoes now and it was a little irritated. But they ran some more blood tests and took some more x-rays. Everything looks good, but she has to go back next week to make sure.

I saw her foot for the first time ... and it about broke my heart. It really doesn't look too much like a foot. I only got to see it because she was in the bath. She keeps it covered up with a sock all the time. She says it is ugly. So of course, I gushed about how it was the most beautiful foot in the world! And her therapist had a pedicure planned fro her this week. She is now sporting two sets of sparkly blue toes! And, for the first time EVER...her toes and fingers match! (she usually has different colors on each hand...)

Eleven year old Miss B has a new phone. Her first one. While I do not seriously think an eleven year old NEEDS a phone, I am hoping this will help her realize that it is not something that is owed her, but a luxury that she has to earn...and can be taken away as quickly as she got it.

She is in to both band and drama...as well as 4-H, so the after school stuff is getting pretty crazy. They never tell us what time to pick them up...just around 4 or 4:30... which is CRAZY...I have two other kiddies at home, dinner to prepare and a momma that will come and pick up her princess...I cannot drive the 25 minutes to school with a wait of at least a half hour and then drive back... and with football games, there is no way to know what time they get out...sheesh. Of course, the school office is always closed after they get out of clubs...so they can't use them and the pay phones were vandalized so bad they removed them.

When I asked how they expected us to know when to pick up the kids they acted like I was speaking a foreign language..."ALL the kids have cell phones.."

I am having troubel getting her to keep up with her GLASSES and now she has to keep up with a CELL PHONE?

(I guess this means she is growing up...and I do not remember giving my permission for that!)

Disney confession time...I have NOT gotten the luggage out yet! Seriously! Normally the luggage is out by the 3 month mark... you know...you get them out, inspect them, put another fabric softener sheet in again and close them up... wait a few days and put the packing list in and then start the packing...right...you do it too don't you?

Anyway, we are at a little over 6 weeks and the luggage is STILL in the storage room downstairs! At this rate I won't be finished with the packing until a whole week before we go! Scandalous!!

And I still have to inventory the Disney Box to make sure none of that needs to be replaced...

Have a great Sunday!

I agree - that would be a rough morning for me too... I will be thinking of you and praying that everything stays on time, and your surgery goes well.

Oh no... I sure hope that the good progress continues.

I can't imagine how hard it must be for her, I bet the pedicure will do wonders.

This was a rough one for me... The part I struggle with most now, every phone is a smart phone - which requires a data plan, whether you intend to use it or now... The phones that are smart phones, have really tiny screens and or tiny screens & tiny keyboards. I think there is a HUGE market out there for "teen phones"... Big touch screens, touch or qwerty keyboards, NO data plans. Their Nokia Neurons (their first phones) were exactly that, and the perfet teen phone... Now, it's impossible to get them anything new that still has most of those functions, because they don't exist. :sad1:

What phone did Miss B end up with?

She is in to both band and drama...as well as 4-H, so the after school stuff is getting pretty crazy. They never tell us what time to pick them up...just around 4 or 4:30... which is CRAZY...I have two other kiddies at home, dinner to prepare and a momma that will come and pick up her princess...I cannot drive the 25 minutes to school with a wait of at least a half hour and then drive back... and with football games, there is no way to know what time they get out...sheesh. This is when my girls got their cell phones too... Well, no, that's not true... The shool had a shooting several years ago, and I couldn't get a hold of the girls... They got their cell phones the next day. But they really started using them once they got to middle school. I have the same problem as you - and it's very frustrating... They give a half hour window to pick up the kids... I have to drive 25 minutes to get there, and then wait forever... while I am supposed to be making supper and all the other evening stuff I do. It's fine for those that live really close - but we don't and it really sucks. I feel your pain totally!

Actually - yes, I do this. :thumbsup2 You should probably get that luggage out once you recover from your surgery.

Anyway, we are at a little over 6 weeks and the luggage is STILL in the storage room downstairs! At this rate I won't be finished with the packing until a whole week before we go! Scandalous!!

It will be fine - you'll get it done - I know it! You're a pro!

And I still have to inventory the Disney Box to make sure none of that needs to be replaced...

Have a great Sunday!

I hope you do too Nini! :)

I guess I didn't post much about the actual phone...LOL..

Since the kids get court ordered child support (sort of...see my FB rant about that..) we are eligible for a phone from SafeLink. It is a basic phone that can send and receive calls and texts...nothing else! No camera, no internet ... nothing!

She has a limited number of minutes per month...once that is gone it is gone until the next month. I figure the first month or so will be rough on her. LOL... she has a problem with time management. 250 minutes is NOT a lot of time on the phone! And with each text counting as a minute...

She was real upset when she discovered that you cannot delete a call record...meaning I can see every call she makes. And even less happy about the fact that once a week she has to present her phone for inspection. She started to say something about privacy...and then her dad reminded her that the phone was a privilege and could be taken away for attitude... she decided that it wasn't too bad.

(of course, she was reminded that if she did manage to delete a call from the log, and the number of minutes did not add up she would loose the phone)

Yes, I am an over protective mom...and Proud of it!

Nini

I am the same way...

That sounds like a good phone for Miss B.

But there is no way I can add up all the texts that still exist on their phones, with what is on our bill... It would just be way too confusing for me. So, I have to trust them. I like to think that I have raised good and competent children who are able to behave respectfully... I am not sure if I should laugh or cry at that statement?

I just upgraded Cs phone on Thursday. She was due for an upgrade and her phone wasn't holding a charge. I wound up getting her an iPhone since I didn't like the other options.

Just wanted to stop by and say that I hope everything goes smoothly tomorrow.

I hate that kids NEED cell phones these days. My DD does not have one yet but I want her to have one for the after school stuff. She has some prerequisites she has to do and she does not seem that motivated. So no cell phone yet.

I hope the grandprincess enjoys her pedicure.

Nini - I just wanted to stop by and let you know I am thinking of you and praying for you today. I hope everything goes smoothly and your Dr. stays on time. Many (((Hugs))) my friend!

Just wondering how this is working out? I, so badly, want to stay out of the smart phone era for the girls - but the way things are going, they need new phones, and there isn't much else out there. :confused3

Just wanted to let everyone know I am still alive. Although at times I wonder if it is true.

I got home from the hospital around 6... only to discover that they had given me the wrong pain meds. The EXACT one that I am allergic to. My husband had to go on a whirlwind trip to the hospital to get a replacement. Since my doc had left, he had to go to the er doc to get it written...and they made him wait. As if he was waiting to see the er doc for himself. He was beyond mad! By the time he made it to the pharmacy they were closed.

At this point, to say he was mad was an understatement...and the pharmacist was very understanding and went back to fill it for him!

In my opinion, the doctor, hospital staff and pharmacist all dripped the ball. I don't know how it can say any planer that I am allergic to ALL forms of codeine...hyrocodone and oxycodone...doesn't matter how it is compounded ..I can't have it!

It was plastered all over my records, it is on my red bracelet... it was on my hospital bracelet...The pharmacist has it in several places in their computer. But somehow, this is the SECOND time they have filled an order for hydocodone for me!

Luckily my husband caught it... because the shape I was in I would not have been able to come out from it. I had an asthma attack during surgery. (which I never knew was possible!) Since codeine suppresses my breathing I would have never woke up.

All in all the surgery has kicked my butt. My daughter and DIL keep telling me I am doing so much better than they did...but I feel like I am totally wiped out. Reading takes more strength than I imagined. I am actually more sore than I was after having a complete hysterectomy! I can't begin to tell you how long I have sat here trying to type. (two cups of coffee so far..)

I keep telling myself 6 weeks until Disney....

Oh Nini - I am so sorry that you are still in so much pain. (((Hugs)))

And unbelieveable that they would fill that prescription for you!! And my DH would be furious if he was made to wait like a patient just to get a new prescription - absolutely rediculous!!! I am so glad that he caught it though.

Been thinking lots about you and sending prayers your way. (((Hugs)))

D~

Oh Nini I am so sorry! That is horrible. Not to mentioned handled so badly! I would feel the need to complain loudly to someone ... Multiple someone's but idk who!
I hope you get to feeling better quickly!!

Hey Nini, glad to see you are feeling a bit better. So glad your DH caught that mistake. 6 weeks will fly by. Let me know if you need any help with any sewing stuff

Wow how scary about the medicine. That is a huge mistake on their part, thank God you DH caught it. :worship: But I am glad to see you are getting better:goodvibes

I can't believe your trip is getting so close. :scared1:
I don't start packing until a few days before, otherwise I forget what I pack.:rolleyes1

I suppose...since this is really supposed to be a pre trip report, I really should do some pre trip reporty type things.

I promise that as soon as I get back form my many appointments today I will do a quick (even though we all know nothing I write is quick or short) update on all our information and plans.

A little over 5 weeks and still so much left to do. My plans called for me to have everything ready to go by the middle of October. I guess I missed that deadline by a wee little bit! LOL!!
