2012 Free Dining Watch and Wait HERE

My oldest son will turn 10 prior to our next vist and wanted to know whether or not we still would qualify for the free dining plan given he's now qualifies as an adult (assuming its offered). Any feedback on this?? Would it cost us extra or is it a greater benefit (i.e. 3 adult and one child DDP vs. 2 adult and two children)?

Thanks!!!
Keith

You would still qualify. If you normally buy the dining plan, you would save more since he would have to pay the Disney adult price. My son is so picky I don't think we'll use the dining plan after he's 10 because he would probably still eat off the kid's menu, so we wouldn't save very much.

Going in Oct 2012...so praying for FD as we will also have a new 10 yo with us and I cringe at having to pay an adult price for someone who isn't really an adult!!

We have had free dining for the past 4 years. Here is hoping for another September trip with it again. I almost booked our trip at pop with the QSDP for 2012. I figured now I will hold off. We will go either way but the 850.00 in savings is real nice.

If we end up with Free Dining, I'll probably list DS (who will be 9 for our trip in March, maybe Feb, but turning 10 next May) as 10. It will be worth it to pay the extra $25 for the park ticket and he'll have much better dining choices. Neither of my kids are huge eaters, but DD will turn 8 on or just before our trip. I could see them sharing 1 adult meal and 1 kid meal - 2 kids' meals, esp. for counter service...may not be enough. And they can be adventurous eaters at times, so they'd like more choices. But if we don't get FD, I can't see paying all that extra for the adult DDP - esp. if we end up doing a lot of buffets/family style TS's. In that case, we'd probably just pay OOP or use snack credits for some extras for them at CS's.

how much is the dining plan for 2012 for the value season? i think last year it was 41.99 a person. I thought i read 51.99 pp this year but that doesnt seem right. a 10.00 increase?? last year was the first time we took the dining plan and we did get it for free. We would take it anyway because once you get there EVERYTHING is paid for in advance. Im still hoping tho....

It's about $51.50. So yes, an approximate $10 increase in 2 years.
In that time, that have also taken away the second beverage at breakfast, but added a refillable mug.

i think it still worth it, well depending on how and where you want to eat while in Disney. Last year was the first year we had the DP. it was nice not to worry about where we ate and everything was paid before we got there.

I'd like to know about next years offers as well! I'm hoping for a trip in Oct 2012 so FD would be wonderful! Did I read somewhere though that free dining only includes QS dining plan and you have to pay to upgrade? Also, if I were to book out this far, can you still get the offers when they come out??

free DP for December this year. If it doesn't happen then I'll consider 2012 instead for another time if necessary for FD.

For general public free dining offers in the past, the Quick Service Plan was included for value resorts and the Basic/Plus Dining Plan was included for Moderate and Deluxe resorts. You can chose to pay the difference to upgrade to the Basic/Plus or even to the Deluxe plan if you are staying at a Value Resort and you can chose to pay the difference and upgrade to the Deluxe plan if you are staying at a Moderate or Deluxe Resort.

And, yes, if a discount is released after you have booked you can call back and have the code added to your existing reservation. If they run out of discounted rooms at your booked resort, you can have them check for availability at another resort and have the discount code added. You do not have to cancel your reservation and your reservation number stays the same. But, really, if you call immediately when a new discount code is released, you should just be able to add the code to your existing reservation with no issues.

THank you Princess TIffany! You really know your Disney stuff!!

Awesome! I was just on the booking site and saw that you are now able to book into 2012! I wanted to price things out to see the max we would pay without any type of discount. It's scary, so I do hope there is a discount of some sort. I'll be on the look-out for Free Dining discounts.

My fiance and I will be going on our honeymoon in September of 2012

I have several questions since this will only be my second time going and will be my fiances first!
1. If I was to book the package now, with the Dining plan included, and then the free dining offer was placed later, would I still be rewarded with the free dining and get a discounted price? We want to stay at Coronado Springs and get the DDP, but would probably upgrade to the Deluxe if we could get the free plan.

2. With the DDP, an entree, desert, and drink are included. What would happen if we possibly wanted to order and appetizer as well? Could we get the free meal and just pay for an app? I am still new to all this so any info is helpful.

3. Anyone know of any places that make a great sangria in Disney World? They are my favorite! :cool2:
