2012 Free Dining Watch and Wait HERE

Julie, I went ahead and booked the dining when I booked my package. You can always get the free dining if/when it comes out for your dates- all you have to do is call!

If you're going to use the dining regardless, I say just go ahead and book it!

Thanks so much! I am a newbie to all this Disney stuff, so I am trying to learn as much as I can through these boards and everyone I can! :thumbsup2 I think i might as well go ahead and book it with the Dining Plan, and get the AAA discount on the room, then change it if needed :)

Just remember that you won't be able to use 2 discounts on one ressie. So do your math when/if free dining comes out. Your AAA may be cheaper than the FD.

You should come join us over on the Sept. 2012 thread!

Yes! They told us that. We are going to be staying at Coronado Springs, and it would only add back on just around $200 to get the dining plan for free than to have the room discount, so the dining plan will work out good.

On my way over there as well

I plan on booking my vacation through AAA for sept. of next year. Any have advice on which choice is better?

1. Book the vacation without the dining included, which will give me the AAA room discount, and wait to see if the free dining comes up, then add the free dining which would cancel out the AAA discount. If it isn't offered, add dining on after.

or

2. Book with the dining plan already included in the package, still putting in place the AAA discount on the room, then take advantage of the free dining if it becomes available.

Didn't know if it made any difference if the dining was already on the package or not,

i just got pricing from AAA for aug 2012. it was a 350.00 discount. if free dining comes out and we take that , the difference would be 897.00, ill take that!! we were hoping to go deluxe but its a little pricey this year

We just booked and did it with the dining and the AAA discount on the room, but if free dining comes out we will definitely take it!! Ours was about a $400 difference I think, sounds good to me! We thought about going deluxe, but we aren't very fancy eaters so I think just the DDP is going to work fine for us

Have our trip booked for 2/2012. I am hoping they do the free dining again, like we got this year.

If not, no biggie, but it would definatly free up the budget. :rotfl:

at what age are kids charged as "adults" on the dining plan and therefore get "adult" meals?

As the above poster said, 10. My DS will be 9 on our March trip next year (he'll turn 10 in May). If we pay for the DDP, we'll just keep him as a kid. We'll likely be doing a lot of buffets and family style all-you-can eats (CM, CP, Ohana, HDDR), so it wouldn't be worth it to pay for the adult plan for him, the difference is so much!! If we are lucky enough to get free dining, though, I'll probably bump his age up to 10 and get the adult plan. The price difference in tickets is only about $25 I think. I know he would like better variety/more food with the CS meals, so the $25 would be well worth it!! Plus, DD will turn 8 right before the trip, so I think 1 kids meal and 1 adult meal would be enough for them to share. 2 kids meals...they might be taking food from DH and I, LOL!! If we do pay for dining, we'll probably just use snack credits/pay OOP to supplement their CS meals as needed.

We are looking at Jan/Feb of 2012. Does anyone remember how many nights you had to stay in Jan/Feb 2011 in order to get the promo? Was it 5 nights?

All free dining offers have always had a 3 night booking minimum and a 14 day booking maximum. And as long as you check in by the last day of the fd promo you may apply the discount up to 14 nights.

I'm following this thread now! I know you all wanted to know that. :rotfl: My husband said last week he wants to run the Marathon in January, so we're pricing now. I figured we were another year or 2 away from our next trip, so I'm excited!! We added dining last year & loved not having to worry about that. I'd LOVE it if we got free dining this time around!! :thumbsup2 I'm also thinking about getting the adult plan for my 9 year old. He eats way more food than the kids menu allows, plus we weren't really thrilled with the options, either. Now that I'm thinking about it, I could leave him as a kid & let his older sister eat the kids' meals? :confused3 If we get it free, the cost won't matter, tho!! :cool1:

So hoping for free dining! We are booked at POFQ but if we don't get free dining we might have to change to a value. I really want to try a mod for a change.

last year was actually the first we took the dining plan and got it for free too! it was just so convenient having everything paid for when we got there. we were thinking deluxe because we have too many places we want to go. we ALWAYS do the hoop dee doo tuesday at 5:00 it is now a tradition and 2 credits. they refuse to give that up, my DD wants to do cindarellas royal table and that is 2 credits. I think we have decided if we want to do any extra TS we will just pay for the cheapest out of pocket instead of an upgrade. teh upgrade will cost us about 800.00

YES! i really love the idea of not having to worry about have a bunch of extra money. We will need it for gratuities, gas money, and spending money. The only other thing we are probably going to spend money on is possibly the Hoop Dee DOo instead of using 2 credits. We arent sure which one we will do depending on what the future hubby decides that we should go to eat!
