This may be posted somewhere already but I just read in the Disney Files magazine that the sail date is October 21, 2012. Just an FYI.
You can use points and/or cash. One disadvantage of the cash, is that normally you can put down a deposit and pay it off on a regular DCL cruise. But with the DVC member cruise, any cash you have to pay, you'll have to pay on that initial booking day.
Oh, and not only is there no discount, it's actually more expensive points/cash than a regular 4-night cruise. But, they usually include tips, along with specials guests, gifts in your stateroom, etc.
I've been on 2 in '05 & '06 and it is a very good time!
If you're paying cash, you have to pay the entire balance on booking day.Are you saying that if you are paying cash for the members cruise, you have to pay for the cruise in full at the time of booking? Or do you mean you have to pay the deposit in fall that day?

On the DCL website there is a 4 night cruise on Sept 15 with an itinerary of 4s. DCL said this was a DVC cruise. DVC doesn't know anything about it.
Just checked the website to get all the info and it has changed. Not sure what's up.
I want to be prepared to call DVC!!! I just spoke to member services and they didn't tell me much. I know it is October 21st. When I book it, is it a deposit like other cruises or all at once? Can you combine cash and points?
He said that on the day of booking, all other DVC services on the phone will stop and all calls will go directly to the cruise division.
Any info from former attendees would be great!
If you are paying cash, you have to pay the full amount on the booking day. Be prepared to call in when the phone lines open up unless DVC changes their procedure. Usually, there is a thread going on call in day detailing who is getting through and what categories are no longer available. Usually, the thread is more up-to-date with the unavailable rooms more than the DVC website. When you call in, you will speak with a DVC CM and let the CM know what category room you want. The CM will put you on hold and see if that category is available and if it is will give you your room number. If not, then the CM will let you know what other categories are available. If you get through and book a room, then join the cruise meet thread immediately.
The 2011 DVC cruise sets sail tomorrow. I cannot wait to hear feedback on how the cruise was.
In 2010, DVC limited it to 3 cabins per membership number. So, we booked 3 cabins - one for us, one for my parents, and one for my DH's mother & brother. This has been something I have wanted to attend since it started. Do you know if you can get more than 1 cabin?
