Whew...just got back at 11:30 PM last night. We stayed at the YC from 8/7/12-8/13/12 water view room 1047 looking across the lake to the Boardwalk.

1-YC location, fantastic to walk 5 min to EPCOT. I could watch the higher fireworks of Illuminations from my patio. Loved having DS so close by boat.

2-Buses to DTD, BB, TL and MK were a pain. I think we just had bad timing and must have missed the bus that we wanted as we waited on average 20 for a bus to come and then 20 min to get to our destination. Sometimes we stopped only at the Beach club and then off to our destination, but sometimes we stopped at Swan, then Dolphin then the Boardwalk. This just made for long transportation times.

3-SAB, loved it!! The pool was fantastic. Loved the sandy bottom, hot tubs and play areas. The teens were in heaven and spent a lot of time there. Each member of our party was asked to present her room key and were given a different colored wristband every day. Chairs were hard to come by in the afternoon, but I found the crowds to be tolerable there

4-room. We asked for, in this order, 1st floor-close to the lobby-daybed. We got a lovely 1st floor room with a large day bed....but our room was very far from the lobby and pool. Made for quite a hike to and from, but we were glad for the 1st floor and daybed. Awesome view, watched Illuminations from our patio every night that we weren't at EPCOT. Fun to see the Boardwalk. Our fridge did not work, the door would not shut. Asked for a new one which did not seem to keep anything cold. Luckily we brought a collapsible cooler, which worked great.

5-Mousekeeping- was so strange this time. Our room had a day bed, so we asked for an extra duvet/comforter our 1st night. it was delivered no problem. The next day, mousekeeping took the extra duvet and also our other beds duvets too....3 calls later a very nice Mousekeeper brought us three duvet covers, only to have the extra one take the next day as well. 1st day we had no toiletries, so I called and got a huge bad delivered, so nice! One morning, Mousekeeping came at 9AM, another day came at 4:30...so we did not get a full service. I just had them take our dirty towels and get clean towels.

6-Food at YC, Hurricane Hannah's was good. I loved the Sunken Treasure drink. Easy to refill our mugs there

7-Cape May Buffet was our favorite eatery of the entire trip. We stuffed ourselves on crab legs, mussels and deserts....so much fun

8-Laundry...hate doing laundry on vaca, but had to do it. The laundry was just down the hallway. $2.00 per wash and dry cycle.

Any questions, please ask. We had a great trip and really liked YC

Glad you had a great trip! I am so excited to be staying at the YC in a month! I have Cape May booked for dinner and can't wait, happy you loved it!!! Seems like the buses can definitely be an issue, I think we will just take the car on MK and AK days. Great info, thanks for sharing :thumbsup2

Hmmm.... is LOBSTER considered a MEAT!?

"Yes chef, I'll have the Lobster Omelet, with extra lobster, hold the egg, the veggie and the cheese. Oh, and can I have that with a side of melted butter?"

MMMMMM, LOBSTER!!!!! I think I would even enjoy it in an omelet ;)

YUM!!!! I'm so glad I live in New England!

Have I mentioned that I am jealous of this fact! I really miss being able to get seafood so easily.

Hey, remember me???

I have added pictures from Lily's visit to EPCOT today to the live report.

Still have another post or two to go.

See is sooo adorable! The pictures in Epcot were great!!!!

Saw that my neighbors posted some pictures on Facebook today, and I realized they were at the Beach Club and thought to myself "hey, they stole my vacation"

I was thinking I wouldn't register my four year old would they really make us show a room key for her? I guess if they did we could just do what you said and use the quiet pool on those days.

They will ask for a room key for everyone over the age of 2. Now if you stay in a regular BC room that won't be a problem as the room occupancy is 5.

I just wanted to point out that the whole purpose of early bird check-in, is so you don't have to log in at 24 hrs before you flight to get your A seat boarding pass. Hope you were up at 6:30 in the morning as part of your usual schedule and not just for that reason.
Yea, I was. I offered to check in the other family that did not do EBCI.

Just wanted to remind you that if you use your car to get to MK, you will be parking at the TTC and then have to take the monorail or the ferry over to the MK. If you take one of the Disney buses from the Yacht Club/Beach Club, it will bring you directly to the entrance gates.

Even with a wait for the bus, it is probably quicker than taking your own car.

Yes. They asked for my granddaughter's and she is 13 months old.

Woo Hoo!! In less than 24 hours we will be in route to Disney!!! I have still have some more packing to do tonight and tomorrow, but then I will officially be in vacation mode. We watched Finding Nemo tonight with my boys (their 1st movie) to get even more in the mood for our trip! I am just so excited!

Thank You everyone for all of the wonderful tips and advice!

I agree, Dee. We had zero issue with the buses to the parks (except TL and DTD). I wouldn't take a car personally. But I went during a slow time so it wasn't a big deal with crowds on the bus either.

Lost another 2.8 pounds this week, so I'm down 9.5 total. I wanted to be down 20 pounds before I started running, but I had a chance to sign up for a Learn to Run program with a friend on September 4th so I did it! Gotta get the weight down as much as possible before I start. The goal is the "Santa Shuffle" 5 km race in November. You wouldn't be expected to run the whole thing. I would sign up for a 5k clinic after that, and maybe do that one twice before I sign up for the 10 mile clinic. The 10 mile clinic goal is a 10 mile race in July. That will give me some leeway to be ready for the TOT race in September.

And even better, I'm on track for my BC stay!!!!

Thanks for your help. I guess I'll have to figure out what I want to do. I didn't even realize they gave keys to little ones. I'm thinking I'll probably just switch us to a regular room which is kind of a bummer. Glad I figured it out ahead of time though. Thanks again!!

Jeanne is starting to pack up for their trip home tomorrow. I can actually say I won't cry at the airport this time since a week from today I'm flying out to be with them!!! Thank you Southwest Airlines for your super sales!!!

It was a wonderful visit and Lily loves WDW, Mickey and Tinkerbell big time. She is also a huge fan of Duffy the Bear. I think her Nanny, Pop-Pop and Mom's love for all things Disney is there with her too!

I'm sure she will be very disappointed when she wakes up Thursday morning in Las Vegas and there is no trip to SAB, TL or any of the parks forthcoming!

Way to go Feckless!!   Thank you for sharing with us.....your stories give me motivation! :goodvibes

I started my annual training for Disney today....the kids and I walked for 45 minutes. We have a new wellness program at work, so I'm doing the walking in conjunction with that. My goal this year is to keep whatever weight I can lose off (I'm hoping for a total of 15 pounds by my 42nd birthday in November, and I have a goal of at least 5 pounds before we go on vacation) and to keep the exercise going after we get back from vacation. When it gets cold here, I usually lose focus and fall off the wagon. ;) I am trying to be a good girl and pack lunch each day and not resort to the horrifically unhealthly options in my hospital's cafeteria---hopefully this new wellness program will improve the food choices there!

38 days til we're back at BC!

Cindy

Haven't posted in a while BC is definitely my favorite resort at WDW. We have stayed club level at Christmas time the last two years. This October, DH and I are heading down for the Food & Wine Festival without kids! We will celebrate my birthday and have tickets for Party for the Senses. I would love to stay at Beach Club but there are sadly no discounts for that weekend right now, and I hear it is often blocked out around that time. (We always got a great discount for club level.) So I am torn between the convenience and joy of BC vs. the Swan. We would not stay CL this time since it just the two of us and we will be grazing through Epcot. So torn...

I know and I try to remind DH of this. We try to take a look at the lines for the bus and ask when the last one to the park we want came and decide from there. With DS(9) being on the Autism spectrum and DD(7) having ADHD waiting in line for the bus can be brutal and even thought the car takes longer, it is generally less stressful. But for whatever reason, DS loves the boats, and is willing to always wait for those. I also tried to book lower crowd level times this year, hoping that we could take advantage of the buses.

Congrats on your weight loss :thumbsup2 I have been trying all summer to lose weight, and just cant find my motivation. I am hoping when the kids start school next week I will find my way back to the gym and with that my motivation!

Thank you once again for sharing this amazing time with us! I loved the pictures of Lily and her expressions to so many new things. You must be thrilled to be seeing them again so soon!

I must add again that our stay in late July was wonderful. However, the only problem we confronted was the buses to and back for MK and DTD. One day there were people waiting at the BC stop when we got there for the MK bus and they said they had been there for 20 minutes. I expected a bus soon then. However, 25 minutes later the bus showed up. This caused some concerns for the people waiting since they had an ADR at Chef Mickey's.

I have noticed in recent years that this seems to be more of a problem for us and it doesn't matter if its BC or the Poly. But we figured out how to work around it. We used the monorail to return to BC from MK and we used a Taxi to get to Chef Mickey's for our morning ADR. This is one point I always mention in my last few survey responses.

Its not a big deal to us since we have learned to plan around it. But it is something that Disney advertises and could be a little better level of service.

But as can be seen by my signature, it is clearly not a deal breaker.

We got back Sunday and I'm still getting back into "normal" mode. While going through all my pics this one turned out pretty cool with the rain in the background so I thought I'd share.

Congrats Feckless and everyone else fighting the battle of the bulge and using Disney as a motivation. I plan on starting a walking program in September in anticipation of my December Beach Club trip.

For those wondering about the buses leaving the Magic Kingdom at the end of the day, I've always found that hanging out at the parks until the thundering herds leave is a better deal for us. There is that mass exodus after the fireworks and then again when the MK closes. Try hanging out at the hub for the Castle's farewell show called "The Kiss Goodnight". This happens at park closing and it's beautiful! You also can hit the shops on the way out or just find a place to plop and people watch as they make their way out of the park.

As long as you are on main street the CM's don't mind if you linger while the crowds at the bus stops abate. I've talked with security and they have said that waiting out the crowds at the bus stops is just fine as long as you stay on Main street. Disney is sure to keep the buses running to get you back home, whether that home be the BC/YC or to the parking lot at the Ticket and Transportation center. Too bad the same thing can't be said about the Monorail but Disney is making up for the decrease in Monorail operating hours with an increase in buses that will cover those monorail routes.

To all those leaving soon for their trips... have a great one!

Boski, thanks for sharing your pictures and it doesn't seem like you should be back from your trip yet! I think you should turn right around and go back and then come home only when you are good and ready!!

Your trip went way too fast!

Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Its amazing how much Lily has grown and you can tell how loved she is by you all:) At least knowing your going to see her very soon will lessen the pain of them leaving a wee bit (I hope). I watched a documentary here recently on a school in Las Vegas and spent the whole time trying to see if I could spot Jeanne in it(I couldn't). Those teachers were amazing though and I'm sure she is too:)

Congrats on both the weight loss and the running:thumbsup2 I just viewed some holiday snaps taken at the Beach Club this july and have decided 2 things-I really need to lose weight and I definitely need to get in shape (steps at BB just about killed me). Sounds like you have a great plan for both:thumbsup2
