Home from a wonderful trip. BC CL was soooo full. Hard to find seats for breakfast no matter what time you went. Everything was perfect though. Princess Lily absolutely loved SAB. Bob and Jeanne and I decided this will be a definite once a year trip!!!

Tomorrow is Typhoon Lagoon again ... this time girls only. Aunt Lauren, Nanny, Mom and the Princess.

So happy you had a great stay and you were able to share it all with your "babies"! Hoping to see you when we check in next Sunday the 19th, hopefully around 3:30:::yay:

Have a wonderful girls day! Say hello to Aunt Lauren for me.

Hello, Y&BC lovers!! DD and I are heading to the YC later this month, and I've been trying to brush up on the details. I've been enjoying the thread, lots of great info.

I have a question that I sort of read an answer to, but want clarification. DD is in the middle of an intense exercise program (INSANITY, if anyone else is doing it) and wondered if the health club has open space for floor work? In an earlier edition of the thread someone posted a short description that mentioned floor space, but I wanted to check that this info is accurate.

Thanks for any info.:goodvibes

ps - just read about HH's being down, probably during our stay!:headache: We had anticipated the construction at the GF (split stay) but had not realized HH was due for a refurb. We just can't win.;)

I can't answer your question about the health club floor space, but I just wanted to say DH has done the insantiy workout and it is definitely INSANE! Congrats to your dd for doing that one!

Have a wonderful time at YC!

Hi.

We are headed to the Beach Club on Sept 22nd. It will be myself, DH, and 3 boys. I was thinking of bringing an expandable shower curtain rod and a cheap shower curtain to hang up at the entrance to the sink area. That way someone could be changing in privacy while someone else was showering. Has anyone tried this? Is the shower curtain rod long enough? Thanks.

Hello everyone! I'm a long time lurker here at Disboards and on the YC/BC threads. I joined not too long ago to ask a question but now I'd like to join in on the conversation!

First, I'd like to say that this thread is wonderful and has helped me out immensely! You all are a very friendly, very helpful, and a very funny bunch!

I will be taking my beautiful fiancée as my bride on August 19th and we will be flying to Disney right after. We're staying in a standard water/lagoon view room at the YC until the 25th. 10 days to go!

We might bump into you. We are getting married at the Yacht Club on the 22nd. We arrived in Orlando yesterday and are spending a week on I-Drive before checking into Yacht Club on 17 August.

Honestly, the area is 4 or 5 feet deep. As long as everyone else stays in the main room, it's probably not necessary.

I'm sorry you had such an awful time.

I'm wondering if you missed anything by not being directly involved in the first conversation. I'm under the impression that park ticket changes must be handled by the concierge in the main lobby, not the concierge on the club level. I could be wrong about that though. Perhaps the CM at the park was not aware of this difference and led you to the wrong impression about where you could find help. Did the Club level CM tell you that you needed to go to the lobby Concierge? If not than that was a failing on their part. Hopefully the next time you run into problems the communication will be better all the way around.

The other thing I would urge you to do is to talk to a manager the next time you are having a problem. I know it's a pain to switch resorts but you deserve to be happy. Think positive! You still have the Swan and Dolphin and Boardwalk Inn to choose from for your next trip. Good luck with your future plans and I hope you find that Disney magic again.

~NM

I am also sorry it was not a good trip. One thing is, we did have days added to a ticket CL and it took FOREVER for her to figure it out. She was nice about it but I would have preferred her to tell me she was not good with it and to try downstairs or at the park. The time I spent waiting on it (and coming back again when she forgot to do something) was not worth it.

To Aliceacc who said she's "a crier". Oh I get that! Me too. In fact, I was just typing up an email to send to friends and coworkers about a charity walk that I'm doing in honor of my niece and nephew and I was crying like a baby. :sad1: Everyone in my family knows that I can cry reading a card, watching tv, at Christmas. Big crier, so I totally understand! So glad to hear that your husband is doing well and that you were treated so well when you really needed it. :thumbsup2

I am also a huge crier. Also, the angrier I am, the harder I cry. It does not do well in some situations.

I second this! It is also rather wide so I think it would have to be a LONG rod to work

Insanity is insane!! I've been doing it off and on...Works much better when you're consistent obviously...Want to get some weight off and tone up before SAB!

LOL - it sounds insane! I haven't seen her do the workout, but hear her and see her afterwards. DD is not a fitness buff, or even a sports fanatic, so it's funny that she has become so addicted to it. Whenever her friends find out she's doing it, they act surprised, say maybe they'll give it a shot - then quit after the first day.

She has her current routine memorized, so hopefully there will be some open space for her. If not, she can do the running paths and some machines - all good.:thumbsup2

We can't wait to visit the YC and try their CL, we have only stayed there once. We usually book BC, we've recently become big fans.:goodvibes

Is there a way you can add me to the Be Our Guest page??? We just booked BC for May 4 until May 9th of next year and I'm so thrilled! We have been to WDW twice in recent yrs and both stays at AKL. So this is truly exciting for us to gain a new experience with BC. This thread is fantastic and I'm loving all of the very, very helpful info!

I will check on how much space is in there and report back.

Now that I'm more settled into my new home... I have a logistical question:

For two adults... on departing day do you think a 9:45am breakfast at Kona give us enough time to pack and check out without requiring us to wake up too early? or should I move this breakfast?

Of all my ADRs this is the only one I'm worried about...

When's your flight? ME won't be picking us up until 1:30 so I made an ADR at Akershus at 10:30?

It's close and it'll be more like brunch to tide us over until we get to the airport...

If you see any CMs in the area, could you possibly ask if there's a fitness area refurb scheduled anytime soon? I posted this question a while back, and maybe it's a good thing that nobody else had heard about it...but there's a nagging feeling in the back of my mind that I read about a fitness area closure coming around the time of my visit (the last week of August). Since we're getting close (:yay:) and I haven't found anything more about it, perhaps, it's one of my brain failures :scared:...I hope so! But I'd love to get some confirmation from on-the-scene. Thank you!!

Out flights not till 7pm so not at all worried about the time of the meal... I just figure we don't have time to check out after we eat so I'd rather take care of that before leaving.

DBF doesn't think we'll have an issue but I'm someone who thinks we need to leave our place at 4am to get to the airport by 5am (only a 1/2 hour away... I highly doubt we'll hit traffic that early) for our 7am flight... I think I'm going to put him in charge of to transport to and from the airport so I don't go crazy

I have never seen a menu rotation for the club lounges for either the BC or the YC, but I'm available to volunteer to stay for a few weeks and dutifully consume and record the appetizers served each night for the benefit of you all. Just need the invite from the resort to perform this valuable service.

This made me laugh out loud!

First, the backstory:
While walking in Epcot on Saturday night, my husband tripped when someone cut in front of him. He hurt his pinky, but was able to bend it, so we figured it was just a bruise.

We spent a good part of Monday afternoon in Stormalong Bay. That night, my husband was up most of the night in pain. By the time he awoke the next day, his pinky was swollen and warm and his ring finger was getting swollen too-- he took off his wedding ring while he still could.

By about noon, he was at first aid at Epcot. They suggested a walk in clinic, but the one they suggested didn't take our insurance. So Peter went down to the front desk, where they got him a cab and suggested a local emergency room. I stayed back at the BC with the kids.

He called a few hours later, saying that the finger was broken(under the nail, that's why he could still bend it), there was a bad infection (made worse by his diabetes) and they wanted to keep him overnight. Our flight home was the next night at 7:30 pm.

My husband is a semi-pro photographer. He had a few thousand dollars of camera equipment with him, none of it packed for the return flight.

I went to the BC front desk in tears. (I'm a crier-- it's how I react to stress.) I asked if there were any way they could give us more time in the room, in the hopes that I could figure out how to get all his stuff packed for the flight.

OK, here's where the service was wonderful: They gave us the whole day. Dave, the manager, said we could have the room until our 4:30 Magical Express Bus arrived.

My husband called a few hours later; they were going to release him. When he got back, the BC picked up the cab fare, and notified us when his prescription arrived.

I am so impressed with the service we received. Teena, if you have the chance, could you let me know who I can write to to commend the BC staff, particularly Dave??

As a PS: my husband went to his doctor, then an orthopedist yesterday after we arrived home. He's now in a local hospital, on IV antibiotics, to help fight the infection. But at least it's a local hospital.

That last day aside, we had a fabulous trip and can't wait to return to the Beach Club in a few years!!!

So sorry to hear about your husband's accident! Hopebhe is better very soon. Glad to hear you were well taken care of, though.

Congratulations!!

29 days today until our week at BC GV...I think I've changed our ADRs about as many times as I can feasibly do...Now what to do to occupy myself for this last month?? :confused3:rolleyes1

Plan your park strategies??

So glad to hear it was great. I loved the pictures of Lily. She is adorable!!

I have nothing worthwhile to add to the thread except to say that when I logged into Disneyworld.com this morning, it said I only have 113 days to go until our family is at the YC!! :thumbsup2 My boys and I have been using our long commute to work/daycare in the mornings to do Disney research on the iPad. DS10 reads the pages aloud to me while I drive. He's learned lots of new words while reading the list of restaurants and descriptions at Epcot. ;)

If that's the case, I might make it a bit later if possible. That way you don't have to rush in the morning.

Thanks for the input. I've already pushed it back once (by 10 minutes)... I'll keep checking to see if anything later comes about before we leave. I've thought about canceling it, as this is the only date that works for Kona, but I need my Tonga Toast at least once and I want to try their coffee (as I wasn't a big coffee drinker in 2010 when I ate there)
