It's odd to me that they'd put K-cup brewers in one type of room, and coffee pod brewers in another. I would think it would be more cost effective to use the same type of brewer in all rooms, that at least uses the same style of coffee pods. I'm just puzzled.

My Y&BC friends, I want to invite you to follow me on twitter! I may not post photos to the boards while on vacation, but I will try share some on twitter. We leave for the World this Saturday! I'm pretty boring usually, so just make a note to start following me then. :-) Please send me a PM here or a DM on twitter so that I know who from the boards is following me. twitter.com/mississippianna

I am now following you....

What do you think about my revised plan?

Love it!!! I think you will find hanging around the resort, and EPCOT for your arrival day will be a nice begining to your vacation. You don't need to be stressing out or running around to something on your first evening.

Continue to keep us posted if you have other plans you want us to revise! :)

I wonder about that as well. You would think that would be less of a hassle for their ordering and such.

Well, thanks to suggestions on this thread, I have decided to change one of my plans.

Allen,

I think it sounds great! Sounds similar to our first day now too(thanks to your posts;)). Except we may go to AK instead of Epcot because we do not like to spend alot of time at AK anyway. But we are truly going to play our first day by ear and do whatever floats our boat once we arrive and have checked in. May be the pool and BW instead if the weather allows. Like you I think that we will spend more time at Epcot than anywhere else which is going to be great. Hard to believe that years ago Epcot use to be our least favorite resort. I bet your trip will be more relaxed this way. What a great way to start!

Thanks for the confirmation Rusty and Dee! I do agree that it will be nice for us to spend time around the resort on our first Epcot day (June 20). I do think that maybe 7 hours is too much. So I figure maybe 1-4 (after the Via Napoli pizza is over, walk back to the resort and swim, relax) at the resort and then park hop to the Studios and do the following, less traveled studios attractions:

Lights, Motors Action
Indiana Jones Stunt Show
Backlot Tour
Sounds Dangerous
Beauty and the Beast
Voyage of the Little Mermaid

I figure, we should be able to accomplish that in the 3-4 hours we will be there and then hop a bus to the Magic Kingdom around 8 to take a boat to the Hoop-De-Do for the 9:30 show.....

This will help us accomplish what we want to do at the Studios when we hit it for rope drop the next day.

Of course, this is all play by ear....

We were CL from 10/11 to 10/19 at BC. While we were there they changed our coffee maker to the Cuisinart (not Keurig). It uses these flat pods, like the Senseo. I did not try it because I had coffee in the lounge. To the PP who asked about a cappucino machine...I had that and it was pretty good.

Well, thanks to suggestions on this thread, I have decided to change one of my plans.

Originally I was going to go to the Hoop-De-Do on our first night at the world (arriving June 18th) but instead I have decided that we will enter Epcot once we get off the plane and to the Yacht Club and spend our first night eating at The Rose and Crown (no cancellation penalty) and see Illuminations that evening.

Hopefully upon entering Epcot, we will be able to do some of the less traveled Future World exhibitions when we arrive. I'm planning on us doing things like:

Ellen's Energy Adventure
Living With the Land
The Seas With Nemo
Imagination With Figment
Spaceship Earth

and possibly Mission: Space (Green for the first time)

Then we will have a nice dinner at the Rose and Crown and try to get patio seating for Illuminations. I'm figuring we'll try to get a 7:45 ADR.

This is our first evening at the world.

On our second full day at the World, we're going back to Epcot and doing Future World again. My goal for this day is for us to hit the bigger ticket rides and spend some time inside Innoventions. So it'll be Test Track, Sum of All Thrills and Mission: Space (Orange if everyone handled Green ok on the first day).

My plan is for us to enjoy the breakfast items in the club lounge first and then hit Epcot rope drop. Because there is so little on our agenda (because theoretically we would have already done so much our first day), I figure a noon ADR to Via Napoli will be fine, followed by spending much of the afternoon in Storm Along Bay and then heading over to the Hoop-De-Do later in that evening. I think we will hit Test Track as many as three times this day. This is one of the rides my family is most looking forward to. We aren't even vaguely interested in "Soarin' " as we have the exact same ride here at DCA.

We'll walk thru Epcot from the Yacht Club on our way to the Monorail to ride over to the Magic Kingdom for the boat ride to the Hoop-De-Do later in this evening. The proximity of Epcot to our resort makes me think we will be going there very often.

What do you think about my revised plan?

Allen

I like it! Very realistic plan for the hot, crowded summer months! :thumbsup2

This will be a little tougher. You may have already missed the last Stunt Show by 4pm. Also Sound Dangerous hasn't been open in years, so cross it off your list. As for the Indiana Jones Show and Beauty & the Beast, in theory you could see both, plus the others on your list in in 4 hours, but the actual show times aren't staggered as well as you would think. I would try to see one of them, but leave the other for your second DHS day.

Now, for the coffee talk, I would be happy to get pics and flavor details for what is offered BC CL next week if someone hasn't reported back before then. (But I admit, I stick to the machine in the lounge.... SF Vanilla on the bottom, shot of espresso and then cafe latte on top :cloud9:)

Just remember that most of those are scheduled shows. Factor in getting to anything scheduled 20-30 minutes early. The Backlot tour is pretty long and unless you time it right, you can be standing around for a while waiting for it to start. Everytime we went to see Little Mermaid, we missed it by mere minutes and then had to decide if we would go do something else or wait around for another show to start. We kept criscrossing the park which drove me nuts (luckly DHS is a small park). Everything always takes longer than you think. We dont stress about it because we really don't have a set plan. We show up and figure out what we want to see and what time everything starts and hopefully it all lines up. If not, we get a Mickey bar and regroup.

We frequent Disney a lot, about every 6 months or so. We are a family a 5 so resorts are limited. Our absolute favorite has always been Beach Club. However we haven't been there in 3 years. Visited others we haven't been to, and stayed at a couple moderates to save money. We are coming back for Christmas with Mickey. My Husband just called me and said do you want to stay at the Beach Club (umm that is a stupid question) of course I would rather stay there. But he is the voice of reason in our house and always is looking to save money, not spend it. Little did I know that he had Disney on the other line and we were in a 3 way call. He switched our reservation. He tried to do it as a surprise, but everything is in my name and they told him I would get a email. No matter, I am so excited. Look out Beach Club we are coming back!!! The surprise will be for the kids, who we will not tell until we drive up on Magical Express.

DISNEYNUTS - that's very exciting!

I just booked a long weekend BC club level for my family and haven't told anyone yet (even DH)!

I think I will break that to him when we go down to Food & Wine next weekend on our grown-up trip -- after he has a few "pops" around the World Showcase!

And to whoever offered to report on the coffee makers in the CL rooms - thanks - I would like to know whether I should stash some K-Cups in my luggage or not!

I think Vanessa (aka Figment82) reported that they are the two-cup Cruisart pod machines on club level.

Amanda, I hope all is well with your family. I am sending good karma your way (Humina, Humina, Humina!) ((((((( :goodvibes )))))))

Our resident expert Teena will be the first to warn you about avoiding the Monorail for trips like this due to it's propensity to break down and hold people hostage at the worst possible times. The bus will drop you off just as close to the boat dock as the Monorail will so the bus is a much safer and more reliable bet, plus you can catch the bus from the hotel, or the front of EPCOT.. Just something to think about....

They really are having problems with decreased reliability of the Monorail system so be advised.

I guess Mr. Depp likes his women LIVELY!! :hyper:

:welcome:

Of course it is ok to join in!

It's understandable if you don't make it through the whole thread before you ask a question, but Page 1 is a good starting point!

I'll add you to the Guest List.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome :)

Leaving for the airport in about 30 minutes!!!!!

I hope you have a wonderful trip!

Oh my goodness! Great costumes and what an adorable baby!!!

We just returned from a wonderful stay at BC CL. It was wonderful from the moment we pulled up. When we got out of the car there was someone there to get our bags and take us to our room. We arrived around noon, so we were pleasantly surprised that our room was ready.

The food offerings were very similar to our last stay in Dec., and if something was running low it was quickly replenished. The CL CM's were all very helpful and friendly. The lounge did get crowded at peak times. They could definitely use more space for tables.

Mousekeeping was wonderful as well. When we checked in we were asked what time we preferred our room to be cleaned. We chose mid morning and it was always clean when we came back for a break from the parks. We had turndown service each evening.

It's a wonderful resort and it is so convenient to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. We used the boat to go to and from Hollywood Studios. We never waited more than a few minutes for a boat. We didn't use the bus transportation, so I can't speak to that. Now on to planning the next trip!

that's great that you had such an amazing trip :)

For those following my saga, my DH and I canceled my 40th birthday cruise due to health concerns with my son but we were able to salvage a 2 night, 2 day trip to Disney. We stayed at the Swan (great rate and BC/YC were sold out!!!) but I had a great opportunity to visit with Teena (thanks Dee for reminding me that Teena was working!). Thank you Teena for being amazing!!!
We had a trip filled with magic and pixie dust. It made it easier to face reality again!

Amanda

I'm sorry I haven't read of your previous trip cancellation, but I'm glad that you were able to have a nice get away. It sounds like it was very much needed.

what a fantastic almost surprise! lol it's the thought that counts after all!

Hi, I've been reading/stalking this thread for about a month and I'm ready to jump in I suppose. Thanks for all of the advice and tips you guys have given!

We are taking DD for her first trip to Disney in December, and are celebrating our 5th anniversary. We went to Disney for our honeymoon in December 2006, so it's only fitting that we return. We also had DD nine months later, so family members like to call her "Minnie" ;). We are staying at the Yacht Club 12/15-12/20, and can't wait to be back at The World!

Hi everyone :)

I could really use some help with our ADRs as our 180 days is fast approaching.

Arrival day is also my youngest's 6th birthday. We are supposed to arrive at MCO at 2:00ish. I figure playing it safe, 5:00 by the time we get into our room. I really want to have an awesome dinner for her, and figured if I booked something for say 6:30 we should be ok. I am not against taking a cab if it was away from Epcot, but realize Epcot might be the smartest and easiest option.

My kids are not adventurous eaters by any stretch. She loves Mickey and Minnie and also Belle. I was thinking Akershus for dinner so she can get her picture with Belle, however we did Akershus for breakfast and have a Belle picture from our 2010 trip. So I was also thinking Garden Grill, but I don't always read the best reviews.

The reviews of Chef Mickey's are so poor for dinner that I have ruled it out. I was thinking maybe either Mickey's BBQ or CRT, because we've never done either.

I would love to know what people thought would be the best idea. I am in a struggle and don't know what I should do.

SydandPaige'sMom, I think I would do the BBQ. People have mixed reviews on CRT for dinner, and I am not a fan of any meal there because I feel cramped. Plus, with the new cancellation policies you don't want to experience flight trouble and be stuck paying OOP for a CRT meal.
