Well Dee, congrats on the first 2. Condolences on the 3rd. LOL ! But I would rather be in WDW with 100 14 yos (I have a DD that age) than any where else.

As the old saying goes, I have some good news, some bad news and some worse news...

The Good News: Looks like I will be coming to Disney in June :cool1:

The Bad News: I won't be staying at the Beach Club (All Stars instead :scared1: )

The Worse News: My travel companions are 100 14-year-olds! :scared1::scared1:

Teena, as the date gets closer, I will see if I can arrange some free time to sneak away and visit you if you are around!

Dee

WHAT???????? You're not having a family vacation at Disney? If it's early June (when school closes), I'll most likely be helping Jeanne close down her classroom. Looks like her last day of school is June 8th.

Yay - I knew it! I knew you'd end up on Nate's trip - you absolutely MUST do a trip report!!! Are you an official chaperone or a tag-along?

Here's the review of our YC stay from Sept 10 - 15:

Arrived @ resort about 10:30 AM via towncar. Met as we got out of the car & taken to 5th floor. Check in took about 3 mins. Our room was ready. We were in room 5143. This is a king bed, no connecting room door. I usually request "a quiet room; away from housekeeping". Didn't do that this trip. Decided to just take what we got. Not happy to see out room was the first one in the hall, right next to the CM's desk area. I was very concerned about hall noise, but actually once we were in the room, we hardly heard a sound. If we heard anything, it was very soft & if we had the TV on, we really heard nothing from the hall. The only other comment on the room is: the room is over the back door, but on the side. The only way to see any water was to stand at the railing of the balcony & look to the right. Unfortunately, the love bugs were bad this year, so I didn't spend any time on the balcony ( I usually like to sit out for awhile each day). So I wish we wouldn't have wasted the money on "waterview" coz I never saw water from the room.

Because we passed the CMs every time we went in or out, we always got a greeting. Even if I just went for a quick soda to the lounge. So they were very friendly, but I really don't need that much attention, so I could have skipped that part.

Breakfast was always: oatmeal with toppings, dry cereal (raisin bran; frosted & plain corn flakes & fruit loops); 2 types of bagels& hard bioled eggs. Everyday there was a muffin & a bread. These are what I saw: blueberry, banana, apple/ walnut & carrot muffins; macadamia, banana ,& apple walnut breads & cherry, apple & cheese danishes.

Afternoon snacks were yogurt covered pretzels, gummy candies, cookies & those yummy homemade potato chips & dip.

Evening appetizers: Sat: chicken skewersw/ dill sauce & pork pot stickers. Also orzo salad & brocolli slaw.

Mon: Conch fritters & pot stickers. Also the orzo salad & another cold salad I forgot to note.

Tues: Crab rangoons & raspberry/ brie puffs(don't know exactly what that was coz I don't like cheese) Don't remember cold options.

Wed: bacon wrapped scallops & some kind of somosa(?) don't know what that was either. Cold offerings were potato salad & couscous.

Of course there were cheese, crackers, fruit, dips & veggies everyday, too. Along with peanut butter & jelly with rolls for the kids.

Desserts we saw: cookies, mini cupcakes. oreo bonbons, brownies, & a fruit type moouse.

The lounge was always clean & had seats. As a matter of fact, Mon morning, DH & I were the only ones there from about 8 - 8:20 AM. We don't drink, so I can't comment on wine, beer or cordials.

Something new they said they just started was asking @ check in what time we wanted our room cleaned: 10 -12; 12-2; or 2-4. We asked for 10 - 12 & always came back to a clean room for our afternoon breaks. Pool was wonderful, we enjoyed watching the afternoon games. And less crowds than usual for this time of year, it seemed. Weather was wonderful: hot, sunny & no rain.

All in all, another great stay @ YC. :goodvibes

EDIT to add: we did get 1 towel animal, a lobster on our 1st day. And we did have a phone book! ;)

EDIT to add: we did get 1 towel animal, a lobster on our 1st day. And we did have a phone book! ;)

Well thank goodness for that! I was just reading in another thread that you should turn down a free BC CL upgrade because it is so horrible. Clearly the phone book makes the difference. :rotfl:

Thanks for the congratulations, and sympathy, everyone!

Well Dee, congrats on the first 2. Condolences on the 3rd. LOL ! But I would rather be in WDW with 100 14 yos (I have a DD that age) than any where else.

I told my son that for 8 years I have chaperoned all the crappy field trips. I'm going on THIS one!

WHAT???????? You're not having a family vacation at Disney? If it's early June (when school closes), I'll most likely be helping Jeanne close down her classroom. Looks like her last day of school is June 8th.

UGH! June 4-8. No family trips to Disney on the horizon at this point. This one will be Nate and me and his classmates.

Mark frequently does price checks on a trip to Disney, but we are hoping for a PIN to encourage us to book.

Yay - I knew it! I knew you'd end up on Nate's trip - you absolutely MUST do a trip report!!! Are you an official chaperone or a tag-along?

I haven't approached the administration about being an "extra" chaperone. Heck, I haven't even turned in our paperwork yet. But earlier this week, I decided that I wanted to do this. I want to be there and enjoy watching Nate enjoying himself. Plus, I rock at the theme parks!

Haven't come up with a decent title yet for a TR, but I know there is one out there! Sometimes they don't appear until the trip is underway.

Congrats and be sure to pack the valium. :scared1:

I appreciate the packing tip! I'll put that at the top of the list. For me or the kids???

Any chance of you just staying down at Disney and sending the kids back home by themselves? Think of what a great summer you'd have with no kids and husband to herd. In this age of the Microwave the guys will be sure to fend for themselves and they can even help out with your expenses by just eating Ramen noodles the whole time you are gone.

Yep, I think we need a kid free summer.
Who else is in?

I'm not sure how long you can book a consecutive night stay at WDW but we could always cop a squat in Clermont for a night or two in Teena and Bob's shed while we wait for the room roll over to occur. Gotta keep it legal and I'm sure the birds in Teena's yard won't mind. BTW do the birds eat the love bugs? Just thinking of possibilities is all.....

Well thank goodness for that! I was just reading in another thread that you should turn down a free BC CL upgrade because it is so horrible. Clearly the phone book makes the difference. :rotfl:

I can't imagine anyone turning down an upgrade!

Ahem..... could we finish the LAST trip report please? :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

YES

I can't imagine anyone turning down an upgrade!

They wanted a king size bed over staying CL on a free upgrade. Not that I can pass judgement on this choice because for some the CL really doesn't mean that much. Glad to hear the YC still has phone books in the room though.

Yay for going back to the World!! As much as 100 14-years sounds crazy, I used to LOVE when my mom came with me on cool field trips, so I'm sure Nate will be proud to show off the Disney knowledge!!

I'm at 29 days today!! :woohoo: I'm really hoping for Mickey Mail today!!

Hey MM, I'll have you know that I cook dinner at least 5 nights a week, (and NEVER use the microwave to boot !) and, no1 in my family (except my 19 yo DS) has ever eaten Ramen Noodles ! So not all of us men are meal prep challenged. Don't make me come down there to NJ and cook you a meal !! Just thought you should know. Have a great day !!

Unfortunately I'm back to the real world now :sad2: I work at a hospital and JCAHO was there while I was gone and they're coming back in 2 weeks, so work is crazy right now. I should have brought more pixie dust home with me! But here's the recap of our last day:

Our last full day was Friday and we spent it hitting a few of the highlights! DH and DD8 headed to HS first thing and rode RnRC 3 times in the first 30 minutes.....They even got to sit in the first row for one ride. DD8 was so excited! We still can't get her back on ToT, but she loved all the coasters this time. (DS3 and DH call the ToT, the Tower of Samantha now to tease her). They did the Art of Animation class after their coaster time and drew Donald. DH was wearing his "I flunked my anger management class--Donald" tee shirt and he was given the animator's drawing. :)

DS3 and I headed for EPCOT after seeing Teena and Bob in the lounge and saying our goodbyes. It was so great to meet them and get to spend some time with them at the pool. DS3 and DD8 really enjoyed having a couple of on-lookers for their flying jib slide runs!

DS3 and I did Soarin', which has turned out to be his favorite ride, and then headed for MK via monorails.....for one last hurrah on Dumbo! We also did the Pooh and Buzz rides while waiting for DH and DD8 to finish Space Mountain (they had arrived while I was melting in the Dumbo queue) and DS3 got one last stripey popsicle. We grabbed a quick lunch at Columbia Harbor House then headed back to the BC for some SAB time!

When we got back to BC, the love bugs had undergone some amazing multiplication....all of the white areas at the porte cochere entrance (desk, trash receptacles, benches, etc) and the construction workers white cones were all covered with love bugs :scared1: It had not been like that earlier in the week! SAB was refreshing and the kids got a few last runs in on the slide. DD8 also was able to participate in the Mickey tie-dye at the pool. Cost is $17 for those who are interested. I need to undo her shirt and toss it in the wash so we can see how it turned out......it's still in the saran wrap and plastic bag. Bad Mommy. ;) We also tried Beaches and Cream to go.....best use of a snack credit all week.....One scoop ice cream cones!!!

In the evening, we headed back to EPCOT for one last turn on Soarin' for DS3 and DH and DD8 headed for Test Track. EPCOT was packed!!!! There were evening EMH, plus MK closed at 7 pm for MNSSHP. FP were gone, so we waited about 50 minutes for Soarin' but DS3 was a real trouper!

We were able to see the MNSSHP fireworks from our room, which was a real treat! I had wanted to head back to EPCOT for a schoolbread from Norway after the kids fell asleep, but my legs and feet were screaming at that point, so that will just have to wait for our next trip.

Overall, we had a fantastic vacation....yes it was hot, yes there were love bugs, yes we did not have a phone book ;) , but all of the CMs we encountered at the BC, whether CL, Marketplace, SAB, Beaches n Cream, were all super friendly and made us feel at home. The CMs we encountered in the parks were great as well. Lines were mostly short, we were able to get a lot done in a short amount of time, and the food was really good. DD8 is already planning our next vacation...now it's up to me to pick some dates and start looking for a great deal! DH really wants to do a Disney Cruise, but I have to figure out if we can add a couple of park days too!

Hope everyone has as much fun as we did!!

Cindy

Thanks for the wonderful trip updates

I can relate about JCAHO. I can remember all the truly stupid things we had to do to pass inspection. The best part was that the inspection was supposed to be a 'surprise' even though everyone knew about it for days in advance. Then someone would call and announce "they are coming to your department NEXT!!!" (Surprise!!) :rolleyes1

PLEASE READ TITLE OF THIS POST!!! VERY IMPORTANT!!!

We interrupt your Beach Club Resort thread to bring you this important announcement:

The Lovebug population took a strong blow several days ago at Disney's Popular Beach Club Resort. A guest (who has since been revealed to be an actual Beach Club Resort Employee) was seen going BERZERK and beating the popular bugs. Lovebugs are SWEET INNOCENT bugs that also frequently Florida for honeymoon like vacations. This so called guest (and assumably part time Disney villain) had had enough of the LOVEly bugs interrupting her card game and sharing her drinks - SELFISH!!!

Wildlife experts had hoped the Sweet Little INNOCENT Lovebugs would make a comeback, but alas it looks like they have taken a fatal blow. Authorities are looking for said employee, but so far have had no luck. They are trying to locate a picture of her on security cameras. Authorities do know that the suspect goes by the following aliases: Tanya, Maleficent, Evil Queen, Cruella, and oftenly just "Bob's Wife." The perpetrator has also been seen pulling a cart filled with phone books. Authorities believe she took them from all of the club level rooms. If you are staying at the Beach Club please verify that your phone book is present in your nightstand drawer. If it is missing please call the concierge who can look up any number that you want.

If you have any information that would lead to the arrest of this dangerous person, please call 1-800-WDW-CRIME!!! A pixie dusted reward will be given to the 9th caller with the correct information.

And now badk to our regularly scheduled thread.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Having a very rough time, and just dreaming of Disney and the BC is keeping me going today! Terrible cold, awful experience and work and my poor 14 year old dog got stuck behind the entertainment unit (not sure how!) while we were at work and damaged her mouth on a candle holder (trying to escape?) and also chewed a cord and electrocuted herself. She is recovering... I am so sick myself and have to work all night long to meet a deadline. If there is anything worse than staying up all night working when you are sick, I'd like to hear about it!

Moan, complain, whine... Just going to suck it up, Buttercup, and put my head down and get it done.

Love love love reading the live and recent TRs guys!
