2011 Yacht & Beach Club FAQ, Part III- DO NOT POST HERE- Summer/Fall

Just returned from our quick adults only weekend getaway. First surprise upon arrival-- free upgrade to club level room! Poor Scott greeted us, and we had no idea that we had gotten this upgrade and were convinced it was an error. This was our first stay at Beach Club, and we loved it. Definitely our favorite onsite hotel we have stayed at.

Although it was a quick weekend, we were able to do a lot. MNSSHP Friday night, dinner at Tony's Town Square and then a lot of rides and a little trick or treating. I wore my Dapper Dan costume, and had my picture taken with the "Cadaver Dans". :) Epcot Saturday for a few rides and a lot of food and drink, including Cantina de San Angel and the new caramel shop-- yum! Late afternoon break at the pool, then dinner at the Captain's Grille and off to Jellyrolls for the night. Sunday we did some shopping around the boardwalk, then headed home. Fittingly, we saw Teena as we were leaving, and she told us a story or two about her stay last week (don't worry Teena-- your secret use for noodles is safe with us, haha!)

Although I am usually a lurker on these boards, I appreciate all of the information you put out. Was a wonderful trip, and we can't wait to go back!

Dee,
Thanks for getting me added to the guest list for December and for your reply. I missed the info in the FAQs on the scent. Definitely something to look into.
I did see the info about the deluxe rooms. To rephrase my question, where in the hotel are these deluxe rooms in relationship to the club (do you have to walk down a long hall and then take the elevator or stairs, or is it at the same end of the hotel as the lounge)? Looks like most of the deluxe rooms are essentially stacked on top of each other in the same location so I guess it won't matter much anyway... What would be ideal is a deluxe room on the 4th floor just below the lounge.

I don't know if this map will help, I have never used it for anything.

It is quite old and the room categories are definitely not correct. I believe the room numbers are accurate though. I think others have said that the CL lounge on the 5th floor is where it is marked ICE.

Hi! Back from our vacation late Saturday night & still need to catch up on the thread. I'll try to post some of our trip highlights soon. Everything was great tho. Got a few quick glimpses of Teena: Monday as we walked thru the BC lobby, but she was talking to others so I didn't interupt. And we got to the pool Tuesday afternoon just as a game was ending. I think I saw Teena & her DH getting some prizes & I did see the special "Family of the Day" chairs. Glad you had a great trip Teena!

Wondering if anyone who is there now or just back has any reports of how opening at Epcot through the IG is being handled now that there is no rope drop at the front entrance? thanks! :goodvibes

We were there the 10 - 15th. Went into Epcot Monday the 12th. We got to the International Gate a few minutes before 9 & were let right in. They directed us to the middle walkway into future world. Just as we got to the fountains, the rope drop countdown ended. So we were right in the back of the initial crowd. Got our fastpasses & then walked right on to Soarin. Right thru the waiting area directly into the right lane & barely a stop in there ubtil we went to be "loaded". Great!!

Mike, can you add west&east to December, please?

Done

I went with the 2 bedroom suite. It wasn't too much more than 2 Lagoon CL rooms. And this will guarantee we are all together. Plus it's a nice way to end our trip. We will be there Sept 2012. Hope we are not too far from the 5th floor lounge, but it's all good :goodvibes

Doesn’t it feel great to have a DELUXE suite booked? Now the countdown/waiting begins.

Sounds great. Changes always scares us a little but sometimes they can be 'OK'.

Did someone ask for a picture of the goat cheese and roasted beet salad???
]

No. But been staring at the picture all day!

Just returned from 7 nights at BC CL and loved it. There were five of us in 2 rooms. We stayed in 5650 and 5652, which were right by the elevators and club lounge which was nice. Both rooms had balconies so we were glad about that. I felt the staff on the CL was excellent. From making last minute dining reservations to printing an extra room key for my daughter when she lost hers, the staff was always willing to help. I found the lounge to be pretty empty the first few days but things really picked up by the end of the week. The food offerings were good and the staff seemed to always be replenishing everything. Yes the staff does "watch" you, if you consider them coming by to refill you wine glass or pleasantly ask you about your day. Some may not like that but I find it quite refreshing. All in all it was my first stay here in seven years and I don't think I ever want to stay anywhere else. I'll be happy to answer any questions if you have them.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

thanks so much for the report, but I believe if I'm recalling correctly that the 12th was one of the last rope drops at Epcot. So now I'm wondering with it gone, and reports indicating they start letting people at the front through the turnstiles around 8:45 am, if the same is happening at the IG, or if people are held until 9.

I didn't explain well what happens. They let people thru the turnstiles before 9 @ both main enterance & International Gate. But the whole crowd is held at the fountain area. People from the Epcot resorts are allowed to walk thru to the fountain area before 9 AM. Then there is a little opening ceremony countdown @ 9 & everyone is let into the attractions @ the same time. Guests are walked to Soarin by CMs, just like happens For Toy Story in the Studios. So no disadvantage to guests from Epcot resorts. We have stayed @ YC for years & it has been like this for as long as I remember.

oh yes, I realize this is what has been the procedure at Epcot. However, as of Sept 14 the ceremony has been done away with; guests are now let through the front turnstiles, not held at the fountain and not walked over to Soarin. There's a big thread called No More Rope Drop at Epcot in the touring section that describes it. :)

Hi all from our balcony at the YC, things are going really well except for the first night disaster.... Long story short. CMs on CL, as well as the hotel manager are amazing. Maintenance, not so much. No phone book, but we do have an amazing view, which makes up for it. ;)

More when we return next week, but wanted to give a construction update. There is scaffolding on the lagoon facing side closest to the BC. Nothing too bad IMHO. One construction worker still insists on wearing his hard hat backwards tho.....:rolleyes1

Alot of the music can be found On the Album called Sounds of wood and Steel
but here are some of the music played..Basically if you get that album you have a majority of the music. When I return Next month I plan to
stragegically get the whole listing as I am also a big fan of this music

How Great Thou Art - Vince Gill and Amy Grant - Sounds of Wood and Steel
Letter From Home - Pat Metheny Group - Letter from Home
Larry's World - Russ Freeman - Sounds of Wood and Steel
Who Lives Up There - W.G. Snuffy Walden - Touch: Windham Hill 25 Years of Guitar
The Last Nile Home - Larry Stewart and Greg Jennings - Sounds of Wood and Steel
Alma D' Alma - Stuart Smith and Joe Lynn Turner - Sounds of Wood and Steel
Restoration- Bob James
Jesus Maria - Leo Kottke - Sounds of Wood and Steel

Hi everyone!

My question right now is about the music played on the BC/YC bus. Often, when there wasn't a bus right there to whisk us back to BWI, we jumped on a BC/YC bus and the music was so beautiful! It was quiet, relaxing and there were seagulls involved. I tried to use the "Shazzam" app on my phone to get a trace on it but couldn't. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about and more importantly if I can get my hands on the music? Is this what is played in the lobby?

Anyone? Teena?

We've stayed in a deluxe room and a 2-bedroom suite, and both are so wonderful that the trip to the lounge didn't bother us a bit! Have a great trip! :)

Teena, what hours are you working the 25-26th? We arrive late Friday and I want to go there to meet you.

Oh no ..... I'm leaving on the Disney Magic for 7 nights on 9/24. I won't be back to work until 10/2 and 3. I'm heading to the Mayo Clinic this Thursday and Friday for my first check-up and tests since the surgeries and radiation and Bob thought I needed some "happy time" to think about instead of worrying about the tests so he insisted we go on the cruise. Obviously he didn't have to push me too hard!! I hope you have a super vacation and hopefully next time we can have time to chat!!!

Just returned from a super fantastic girls only trip to the BC Sept 11-17. Everything was perfect and we even met Teena and shared some pool time with her and Bob! So sad to be back to the real world but already dreaming about out BC stay in sept of 2012!!!!!

I'm so impressed that it's not even Fall yet and we are on page 134! :cool1:

Kids are starting to get excited because Mom's excited. Is it November yet? No? Oh, well. I'll have to bide away my time keeping up with this thread and planning adventures for the Noodles.

Bummer that you won't be around. Good luck with your doctor's visits and have a wonderful cruise. We love to cruise as well (none on Disney though) we love Carnival and we have done two Princess ones and have a Norwegian one booked for November (Hawaiian Islands).

Hopefully we will meet the next time.

Hey beach peeps!

Well it was another late start today, I'm traveling with my senior cit parents and they are not exactly commando park goers.

Breakfast at captains grille, all had the buffet, good for the most part, but the gravy was only so-so. Also just FYI even though the menu does not say so, they will made to order omelets and eggs, you just have to ask your waitress.

Hit Epcot around 11. We pretty much just headed straight for test track. Got fast passes for 12:15, and headed for Mission Space. Green side less than 10 minutes, pretty lame at the time, so we walked straight out and hit the orange with a 10 minute wait as well. Not lame in the least, in fact my stepdad spent a few hours pretty nauseous afterwards, I was fine after about an hour but I will probably never get him on it again. We decided to take it slow after that
and sat for 45 minutes in Ellens energy ride. Then it was test track great ride. We hung out and people watched while we had a coke then went and took a character photo with my Disney Visa. Micky, Minnie, and Pluto.

Decided to take a break and hit the Premium Outlet. Didn't buy anything except a new VB lunchbox.

We ditched our Cape May reservation and decided instead to see if we could walk into Rose and Crown, we got lucky and after a 35 minute wait while we listened to British Invasion we sat down to fish and chips and Sunday roast. Probably the best food yet. Picked up my picture, walked around the countries and then watched illumination again except from the other side.

Still hot and it seemed muggier today. One brief shower around 4:00.

We got a letter today letting us know that they are pulling up the solarium floor and will be working on it for the rest of the week.

Briefly saw Teena, she has been very sweet and it was so great meeting. My mom thought you were great. She wanted you to know that we would all be thinking of you during your upcoming checkup.

We met Teenas singing maintenance man. He was young and totally embarrassed that we asked for a song. They painted our balcony today and are continuing work as well as painting the front entrance os the resort.

Tomorrow is planned for AK, and I'm hopping to get everyone hustled out the door early.

Oh and this is being done on my iPad, 3G works like a charm from inside my room.
