2011 Yacht & Beach Club FAQ, Part III- DO NOT POST HERE- Summer/Fall

14 days until I am checking in to the Beach Club!!!!! Actually, at this time in 14 days, I will be up and packing last minute stuff...getting ready for the car to take us to the airport!!!!!!!

I am super excited. Can't wait for my 4 year old DS to see SAB. He is going to love it!

One week from today, at this time, I'll probably be crossing the Georgia-Florida border and just a few short hours from checking into BCR Club Level. Our first on-site stay!!!! I can barely contain my excitement. I've been several times growing up and we've taken the kids twice. But, both times we stayed off-site and just went to the parks a couple days. I can't decide if I need to buy one of the WDW planning guides. I've read the boards up and down so there shouldn't be too many surprises. Thoughts?

I love having one with me to read at night or early in the morning while there. Refresh myself on the park that we are going to. I prefer the Passporter because we can do a diary of sorts in it of our trip too. I am just trying to decide if I need the newer version this year since we were there last year.

If it is your first onsite stay I would highly recommend one so that you can be sure that you are taking full advantage of what the resorts offer.

We just got home from DS's first soccer game of the season. It was a great game and it wasn't too hot today, so that was a blessing!

We will be at the BC from December 9th -11th. We will change it up for a few days to enjoy the Christmas decorations at the WL and then we will be at the YC from December 15th -18th. It would be great to be added to the BC/YC list!

On the way home from the soccer game today we stopped at Chick-Fil-A to grab some lunch and DS came up with "Maybe we can have supper at Mama Melrose tonight". He's six and his favorite ride at WDW is Star Tours, so the idea has some strategic thought to it. We live about 6 1/2 hours away, in the midlands of SC, so it's just so tempting to think of quick trips to WDW.

We go often to YC in November when SAB usually closed around 8pm. But, the few times it was unseaonably hot, it was open until 10pm.

I have only ever seen it closed for severe weather or construction/maintenance.

So glad you are enjoying your phone book!!! See you tomorrow or Monday in the BC lobby or maybe even at Stormalong Bay on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday! Sure am hoping we get a phone book too!

I AM SO RELIEVED YOU HAVE A PHONEBOOK IN YOUR ROOM!!!

I was sooo concerned about the tragic nature of this heinous deficiency that I was considering a Phone book swap like we did with the noodles.

Here's how it would work:
I will send to the Beach Club a Marlton NJ phone book. I've thought long and hard about this and after CAREFUL consideration I've decided that where the phone books originate from has no bearing on this swap because...... nobody, strike that, hardly anybody ever uses them.

The person who signs up for the phone book then brings their own local phone book and adds it to the ever growing pile. After awhile the Beach Club can have a separate charge for 'a phone book room' category and since this has got to be better than some of those ratty garden view rooms. I say we charge $9.99 a day.

People from all over will leave their Disney guide books at home because with the phone books in the room, help is just a phone call away! Just think of it..... Let's say you want to know if Epcot has extra magic hours. Don't call the front desk! Heavens no!! Just grab one of those phone books and call some random number in Peoria Illinois! They are bound to know but if they don't KEEP CALLING PEOPLE until you find someone who does. You can always call someone from the Orlando area phone book but that's almost cheating, and besides, I'm sure those people get calls like this all the time.

So there ya go.

Our 2nd annual girls trip begins in 12 days. 4 days at BC CL w/o husbands, kids, or dogs--we can't wait.

I don't remember from last year--do the mini fridges have any type of freezer? If so, how well do they work?

I usually lurk but I love this thread.

They don't have freezers but if you turn the fridge temp to it's coldest then stuff will freeze in the fridge, like your left overs from the Yachtsman Steak house.
My husband had a 'steak-cicle' for breakfast one morning. I, being the clever wife, suggested he take it down to the Marketplace and use the microwaves but he said he was actually enjoying it like that.

I am thinking of booking Kona for dinner on our MK night. Then watching the fireworks from their beach. Has anyone done this while staying at BC? I am assuming that the best way to get back would be to walk to the Epcot monorail? I am thinking it may be better than watching Wishes in the Park and taking the bus back. If you have done it how long before the fireworks do you book dinner for? I am thinking 6pm dinner for 8pm fireworks.

I'm @ the Beach Club now and all I can say is.........WOW! We love it! Checkin was a breeze, did not do early checkin but got my full balcony like I requested. Was @ MK @ about 1 o'clock and while it looked fairly crowded, didn't wait for more than ten minutes for anything. Will give another update tommorrow .......

We're eating at Cape May the first night, Teppan Edo the second night and Italy the third night. We were thrilled to be able to get them when we were forced to change our dates from August! I was afraid that with free dining going on, we'd never get in anywhere but we got them!
