Lily and Jeanne:

Here are a couple more gorgeous pictures of Lily.

I know a lot of you are new to the thread- there is a lot of history here and a lot of great friendships made in past versions of this thread, but I want to introduce Teena to anyone who doesn't know her (yet).

Teena is a greeter in the lobby of the Beach Club

P7110023-1.jpg

Look for her on Sundays and Mondays unless she and Bob are on one of their treasured cruises to Castaway Cay or out visiting her two shining lights in Vegas, her daughter Jeanne and her first grandchild, Lily born in July.

We were all eagerly awaiting "Peanut's" arrival in the months leading up to July and even had some fun, friendly competition to guess her birthdate and whether she was a Princess or a Pirate.

Lily's arrival was a very special moment for our beloved Teena in a year that has been tough due to some health issues. She bravely shared what she was going through with all of us, once again, in an attempt to help others who may be facing similar challenges. :grouphug:

Teena has faithfully posted on this board and has helped us all gain great knowlege about these resorts, so many of us who hang around here can now also answer the questions that are posted here.

I will occasionally post the photos she provides to me, because, well, Teena may know everything there is to know about the Beach Club but she don't know beans about technology! :rotfl:

OK, intro over! Back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Dee (Natebenma)

Great pics! Just trying to get caught up since my return 9/2! Things have been crazy at home, my brither in law was released from hospital the day after I got back, never should have been. I've been going from work to his house daily, just home to sleep. We had to re admit him yesterday, not doing well.

I keep going back to my happy place- our BC stay :goodvibes it was truly amazing. In my mind I'm still floating around SAB in my fat pool noodle :woohoo

So glad you are enjoying your stay. Did you get a phone book in your room????

Marlton Mom, if we do a phone book swap, maybe we can build a little mini fortress with them so the CMs can't see us in the lounge. Maybe with some wheels. It can have little windows for them to chat with us whilst not actually looking at us. Or maybe we can fashion a dirty dishes table from the phone books. Just trying to use my noggin to improve the BC! :rotfl2:

Hi from the yacht club! Plane landed @9:30, @ yc by 10:30. Also went to mk by 1. Did hm, pirates, jungle cruise, small world & peoplemover before 3. Weather is great, little humid but not too hot. Did stormalong bay after dinner. Dessert party tomorrow!

I am sorry to say that this part of my review will not be a good one so I appologize in advance to any Beach Club fans.

I have to say their Club Level was horrible. Very rude and cold Cast Members at check-in and the ones who work in the lounge watch over everyone until they are ready to clear the plates off the tables.

For example the Cast Member who checked us in saw we had just stayed at the Boardwalk and made a joke that their best quality is they face the Beach Club. I realize he was making a joke but we didn't think it was funny.

It was just a horrible experience that the next day on September 1st we decided to switch back to the Boardwalk Inn, which we did and got to stay in the room we previously had. So it goes without saying we are never again going to stay at the Beach Club.

Im so sorry you didn't have a good experience in BC CL. We had the exact opposite experience. We found the CMs very nice and welcoming. And the lounge was nice. I found they bent over backward to make you happy. We checked out 9/1, our paths may have crossed!

We are officially back home now. We were sprinkled with pixie dust too with an upgrade to Club Level! :cool1:

We also got to meet Teena right before she left to see Jeanne and family. It was wonderful talking with her.

I am only on page 80 on this thread and have a lot to catch up on, but we need to get lots done before my son's 12th birthday party tomorrow. I will post some pics probably on Sunday. I am considering doing a trip report if I have the time. They are fun to write.

We totally enjoyed ourselves and loved living the "rich life" for 8 glorious nights.

Us too! We saw Teena before she left, we were still on the POR part of our trip, but we stopped in to see Teena at BC before she left.

We also got an upgrade to CL :goodvibes loved it. The guy from Brooklyn in the lounge was hilarious. I think BC may be my new fav resort! We loved it.

Checking up on this thread can take awhile! I love it here. I read the "other" thread and I still cannot wait for our BC stay. We had a wonderful trip last month at CR but after dinner at Cape May, DH and I both knew BC was more "us" even though we loved CR.

I thought this meant it would be several years before my wish came true until last night. DD3.5 asked if we were doing to Mickey's again? Being that DD has DH wrapped around her finger he said, how about next summer? I casually mentioned where did he want to stay. Imagine my surprise when he said for us to do a split stay between BC and CR! Now just waiting for some kind of deal for next August and we will be booking. I am fairly flexible but we can't do a rack rate trip that is for sure. I can't wait to be planning my BC trip.

WOW! I'm in Awe! :worship: :worship: :worship: You out Marlton Mom-ed Marlton Mom! :thumbsup2 These are some excellent ideas worthy of a suggestion box made completely from telephone books!

I'm glad to read that you stayed at POR and BC just recently. We booked BC, but I am having 2nd thought about whether I want to pay the extra $1500 for it. Our other option is POR. I've never stayed at either. We don't do Epcot much. Will just go on arrival afternoon and that is it for the week. Will do 2 days at DHS. So that means lots of bus rides whether we are at BC or POR. Stayed at Poly last year and loved the location and monorail. The room was huge. Thought overall it was worth the extra cash. I am thinking maybe I should just do POR this year and save the money. We can save BC for another year when DSs are a bit older and enjoy Epcot a little more. The pool looks great though. What do you think?

From the Beach Club you take a boat to Hollywood Studios. This means you can roll the stroller out to the dock, roll it on the boat and roll it off. No transferring out, folding, and lifting involved.

As for the Beach Club pool there is a zero depth entry that finally goes to 3 feet and has a sandy island for the little ones to play on. There is also a smaller slide for the little ones. Your 12 y.o. will be watched like a hawk by the lifeguards at the pool so you can feel free to give her a little bit of room to roam in the other pools. There are also games in the pool in the afternoon supervised by the lifeguards and Rec staff, perfect for a 12 year old girl.

You are a 5 minute walk away from Epcot, which makes dinner plans at the International Showcase that much more easier.

The only buses are to MK, AK, Blizzard beach/Typhoon Lagoon and Downtown Disney.

If after reading all this you are still not convinced then I would do a split stay. Be sure to do POR first because once you get to the BC you sure won't miss those ever looping POR buses to here there and everywhere.

Good luck with your planning.

Marlton Mom

Do you go to DHS? That too is a walk or boat ride away. Walk is about 20 min, may be a little long for some. We did it in Jan, but not in the Aug heat
We loved BC. The room isn't as large as Poly, but still large We had 2 queens + the sofa/daybed.

POR is our fav. moderate, and now with the new rooms, they are putting in queens, and now have evening movies on the lawn in front of Oak Manor. Lots of pool activities at both resorts, and of course BC has movies too.

You can't go wrong with either resort. So if you want to save BC till you go to Epcot more, POR is an excellent option. Be sure you put in a room request for a new refirbed room! We loved Acadian House. Our room was right next to the quiet pool, and bridge over to Old Man Island and path to main buildings.

 no. didn't check!

I am thinking of booking Kona for dinner on our MK night. Then watching the fireworks from their beach. Has anyone done this while staying at BC? I am assuming that the best way to get back would be to walk to the Epcot monorail? I am thinking it may be better than watching Wishes in the Park and taking the bus back. If you have done it how long before the fireworks do you book dinner for? I am thinking 6pm dinner for 8pm fireworks.

We loved watching Wishes from the Poly Beach when we stayed there. You can walk from Poly along the path to Epcot Monorail, but this will only work if Epcot is still open, because you'd have to walk through Epcot to International Gate to get back to BC.

So you may have to either go back to MK for a bus, or take a bus from Poly to DHS where you can then either walk or take a boat back to BC if Epcot is closed.

Thanks for your thoughts! I was really spoiled by the size of the room we had at Poly last year, and that is what is making me nervous to do POR. But since you say the BC rooms aren't as large as Poly, it sounds like I should just give POR a try.

I am writing this from the lobby of the beach club, having checked in yesterday for our first ever visit here. It is as beautiful as everyone says - I love to room, the view, the staff and the facilities. I do have one complaint though in respect of computer access. Wi fi is only available in the lobby and the $10 daily charge, which I am quite happy to pay, is only for one computer. I have an iPad and by husband has a laptop so we have to pay $20 per day to get access AND I can only get access in the lobby. In this day and age, Disney needs to move with the times in respect of Internet access.

I did this in July 2010 on the last night of our trip- dinner with my family at 'Ohana, then the family returned to the Beach Club. I think they took the monorail to MK and then took a bus to the BC. If they hadn't been so exhausted, they probably would have taken the mono to the TTC, changed over the to the EPCOT mono and then walked through EPCOT to the BC.

But since you will be doing this AFTER the fireworks, I would not suggest going to the park- your suggestion to walk to the mono at the TTC is the better option. Fireworks should end by 8:15, so EP should still be open (until 9) and the mono should still be running. As long as you get to the EPCOT entrance by 9, you should be able to walk through. You might also get to see Illumniations at 9 as you are walking back.

Since I was alone, after the fireworks, I took a taxi. Fireworks were over around 10:15, I was back in my room at the BC by 10:30. I think the faire was under $15 plus tip.

BTW- LOVE Kona!!! We ate here on our one day trip to MK this summer.

Do you have a review of this, you ask? Why yes, I do:

ITA with this. Even the most craptacular motels around here have WiFi. I do not mind paying in the least - just have it available! I'm going to have serious iPad withdrawal in May! Does anyone know why this is?

I may be wrong, but I believe that WiFi access at the Beach Club is handled by an outside contractor- not Disney, so they are the ones making the decisions.

That being said, it does seem like a very outdated practice! Anyone who is bothered by this should make sure they share their opinions with Disney by either completing an exit survey (early morning on the day you checkout of the BC) or write/e-mail guest services after your trip.

PS- make sure you tell them you would have e-mailed while on vacation, but you didn't have access!!!

Thank you for both of those links! You have me rethinking. Maybe I should book Kona for our last night instead. We stayed at the GF last trip. Nathan our 7 year old and I loved the EWP. It was fun even if we had an early night back to our room to hear that music. We would jump back out of bed and go onto the freezing cold balcony to watch. I know that we will miss that part this trip. Though I don't think that the GF was a fit for either DH or DS. We are all looking forward to our BC trip. Nathan fell in love with the arcade pics that someone had posted! Might of been you.

Epcot and DHS were our favorite parks last year too so the BC should be perfect for us. I think that it could make for a more relaxing trip if try and concentrate on those 2 parks. We are thinking of skipping AK all together. MK for only one day. Of course once we get there to my husband's dismay Nate and I are Go, Go, Go! So we shall see if it our plans hold or not.;)

I just looked up the schedule. I am going to look into booking Kona on the night that Epcot is open until 12am. Never have been there that late before and that might be fun. It is our next to last day so we wouldn't have to get up early for travel the next morning. Thanks for helping me plan this!!:thumbsup2

Thanks for your post!!! It made me smile! I'm glad I could help.

Yes, I posted the arcade pics, but they were taken by aprilsis.

As you may know, my oldest son (13) is named Nathan (Nate) and he is a Go! Go! Go! park tourer, too.

We loved the name Nathan and when we learned that it means "Gift from God" we were totally sold. We learned in subsequent years, however, as he was approaching teenhood, that the name actually means "God's Gift" At least that it what Nate thinks!!! :rotfl:

Your family will LOVE the Beach Club!!!
