Just to further clarify- I am not related to these beautiful people, although Teena is like family to me. :)

I post the pictures of Lily that Teena shares with me as a courtesy to the technically challenged.

Lol! Funny!

PS: checking the ticker! Woohoo in the 80's now!

Well..just did it....upgraded to CL at the BC for our trip...19 days out...
DH really wanted CL (not sure why)....I would have prefered to upgrade to a waterview room....guess who won out....;)

but since he is "THE" disney scrooge, we will do anything to make him happy...as you might have guessed by now .........DH is NOT a disney fan..:scared1:gasp!!!!!!!!

we have been 8 times...still not a fan....this is the first time with the grandkids....our little princess: 2 1/2 (her 3rd trip) and our pirate: 1 1/12 his first trip.....

so no waterview...but CL...never stayed in the park....cannot wait...:woohoo:

wish I could stop questioning if getting the CL is worth giving up the waterview....oh well....

About 12 years ago we went to BC and were very disappointed to find SAB closed(all of it) I did not know about this ahead so in frustration called my travel agent and got transferred to the Boardwalk Inn. Pleasant side effect was being upgraded to Boardwalk view villa. I don't think this happens anymore.

We're checking into the YC on Tues and can't wait, thanks for all the info on here :)
One question - what's he best way for us to get to MK for an early ADR? Our ADR is at 8.05 but MK has EMH so is also open at 8.00. I've got no idea how long it might take or what time buses start running from!

natebenma is right..... @ 7am you'll be fine. Anything later is a gamble. That's when the $15 taxi ride is well worth it.

And you may already know but when you get to the MK turnstiles/entrance (before opening) go to the far right for the restaurant entry.

We love the CL lounge.....Anytime the 'view pains' hit go get a sugar cookie in the lounge!

Is there anything like a SAB maintenance calendar?

THE reason why I chose BC is for the pool (being close to EPCOT also counts, but if not for SAB, I would take Poly - wife prefers the theming and location is also convenient for EPCOT).

After reading the last few posts I'm concerned now, I haven't thought about the possibility of the pool (or parts) being closed for maintenance. Our dates are Nov 6-12, what are the chances?

Also, maybe too late to ask, but... usually the weather on those dates is suitable for pool time?

Finally, what are the pool opening / closing times in that period?

We'd give up waterview for CL in a heart beat. While the view is nice (and we love spending time on our balcony) the convenience and comfort of the CL lounge is worth much more than the view.

We love grabbing a drink after a long day out at the parks, or just walking down the hall for a cookie at night. We also love the breakfast convenience. It is so nice when the first person is ready to be able to go and grab breakfast without having to wait for everyone else to get ready.

I think you and your family will love CL.

We are on the first leg of our drive down to WDW. We're staying at a Fairfield Inn & Suites in Strasburg VA. One more stop tomorrow night in Orangeburg SC, and then we'll be at the Yacht Club on Monday.

I will probably only pay for internet on p.r.n. basis while down there. But if anyone has any questions or specific photo requests, please let me know. I'll check this thread tomorrow to see if anyone requests anything.

I can't wait to get there!!!! :cheer2:

Back in November (week of Veteran's day) 2003, the lazy river part of SAB was closed during our stay. All the remaining parts were open.

Just arrived in WDW :goodvibes yesterday, 1 night at DTD Doubletree:goodvibes the suites are beautiful. This morning we checked into POR. Got my room request for a new refirbed room, and an upgrade too :woohoo: to water view, so we look out on the quiet pool. Great location. Sooo happy :goodvibes
Then 1 week to BC :woohoo: but i don't want to wish my time away, I want it to last forever!

The new POR rooms are beautiful. Very upscale. They did a great job. My one nit pick is they took away the dimmer switch for the bed lights. Very handy for reading at night.

Sitting outside the room, cause I have zero bars on my T-Mobile internet stick inside room :sad2:

Teena- Lily pic is soooo cute. She's getting more beautiful by the day!

Hope you are out of pain soon, and not welcoming people to Pop on your next shift :rotfl:

Safe travels!

Marlton Mom- you are sooo right, the Voluptious Noodles are so superior! I'm enjoyin mine, and am sure I'm the envy of everyone at the pool with skinny noodles!

1) Lily is too cute - just TOO cute!

2) Sue M., so happy to hear you arrived safely!!! We're just three days away from BWI/3-night Disney Dream/BC! How's the weather?

The usual, hot then T-Storms by 3pm I'm sitting outside my room to get internet reception, and it's cool now. I think I'll have to bring a light jacket with me tonight. The T-Storm really dropped the temp. And I freeze in airconditioning

Safe travels.

thanks...that sounds like that good do the trick...lol:laughing:

Thanks natebenma and MickeyT for your help. One more question now! - how soon do the buses start running to get us to MK or AK rope drop?

Hello everybody, sorry I haven't been so active lately, just a ton of things going on. I check in from time to time to see the baby pics! Too cute!

We did budget and money will be a little tight but are annual holiday trip will be on. We will leave KY on the morning of Dec. 8 travel to Orangeburge, SC stay at country inn there and finish traveling down to my dad's house in Altamonte Springs, FL (where I was born and raised!) We will stay there till we go to Disney World on the 12th.Well, like I said before we had to reduce our trip but even though we will be at the French Quarter for 12-20 of December we will be at the BCV for Joeseph's birthday. We will be checking in on the 20th and checking out on the 22nd. Joeseph is still going to be able to stay where he has dreamed even if it is just for two nights. That will be a Tuesday through Thursday.

With Teena's normal schedule that means we might miss you!:sad1: I don't know with your health and everything else if you work extra days during the holidays or not but if you are going to be there please let us know! I think Joeseph might try to take on the kitchen sink for his birthday!

After checking out on Dec. 22 we will be traveling to Goose Creek, SC near Charleston, to stay with my mom. My DH's parents are in their 70's so we will be spending the holiday's with them and my mom and other family. We will be there from 22-26. Then we will go to my best friend's house in Newberry, SC from 26-29. We will drive home on the 29th. That is a full 3 weeks away from home! Rather fly but with me couponing and buying christmas presents thoughout the year, it is cheaper to drive. Just hoping for not to much snow!

Thank you for all the encouragement through my surgery and recovery! I finally can eat and talk. My DH and DS have been wonderful and still will hardly let me do anything. I was able to still get A's in my two classes through all of it! I also got my scooter last week, it was fancier than I thought it would be with turn signals and hazard lights. Still humbleing at 33 to have to use a scooter but I really don't want to go through any more surgeries any time soon!

So I got two questions; first I heard a counter service at the studios has wonderful cupcakes, where is this place and can you get the cupcakes on dinning plan?
Second, with my scooter and renting one for my DH we are going to be having to use Disney transpotation most of the time and we have never split of vacation between two hotels. Someone said bell service will transport lugage for us, how reliable is that? We are think of trying to take both scooters in the car to the next hotel and might not have room for lugage so how will that work?

Miss you all, and glad to be back! Please update our stay at BCV and the noodle swap to Dec. 20-22, please and thank you!

Heather

Here is what I know about SAB rehabs, but someone who has more information should certainly pipe up and correct me if necessary.

As HelenParr indicated, parts of the SAB are closed down in the winter, for routine maintainence. The whole pool is not shut down, they just do one part at a time and the remainder of the pool remains open.

Last spring, the slide had to undergo unplanned work. The rest of the pool was open, the slide was closed and YC/BC/BCV guests were permitted to use the Boardwalk pool and slide to make up for the closure of the Jib slide. You could walk to BW or a shuttle was also offered.

I don't know if the entire pool has ever been shut down for work since it has been open. Anyone know?

In the 7+ years I've worked there I can never remember the entire pool ever being down except during thunderstorms and when the temps get too cold to open. All the rehab is done section by section and usually one-third of the pool is down at a time. Also every January it is down for the yearly maintenance but that's done one-third of the pool at a time. Personally, I just can't imagine how they keep that thing going with sand in it. My brain doesn't compute how a filter system can work with sand in the pool.

Thanks for the additional information - very helpful! It's good to know that *if* there were a rehab while we're there parts of the pool would be open.

Hi everyone! So it looks like Tropical Storm Irene might be affecting Florida toward the end of this week. To everyone else traveling this week - I'm sorry.:sad2: It's my fault. Bad weather follows me on almost every vacation.:sad2:
But, I am determined not to get upset, and just make the best of it - it's one rainy day, right?
So to all you Fay veterans out there - what's your advice for having a great time, even in the midst of a tropical storm?
Thanks!!!

Hi Heather-

So good to hear from you!!! I'm glad that your recovery is coming along, your family is really helping out and you are maintaining your grades!!!

Here is a link to the "Show Me the Cupcakes" thread
The first page has a few examples of the cupcakes from Starring Rolls- I believe this is the place in Hollywood Studios you are thinking of. They have a lot of (huge) sandwiches and I think you can get the cupcakes as either dessert or a snack, but check the menu listings to confirm. Or maybe someone who has been there can offer more info:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2702083&highlight=cupcakes

For the noodle swap- the following guests who are interested in entertaining the noodles in mid-December. Can the three of you work out a schedule and let us know.

sndral Dec 9-Dec 19,
Tinkerbell’s mama Dec 11- Dec 21 BC
heatherbabydoll1 Dec 20-22, BCV (DS 13th BD)

Thanks!

As far as switching resorts and luggage transfer- I have never done this, so I don't have any advice or info.

I'm sorry to hear this too! I am hoping for the best for calm, dry weather next week for everyone.

As a Faye veteran, I will suggest that you have a second pair of shoes to wear while the other pair dries, or use a pair like sandals or Crocs that will not get waterlogged. I think my sneakers are STILL wet from 2008!!!
