OK, I have dining questions and this is the BC/YC thread, but since many of you seem to be the Disney experts and this is where I've been reading I hope this is ok. :goodvibes

We are staying CL so will do breakfast in our room. Plus, since it's mid-August it will be hot. Now, we are from MI so are used to humidity but not the extreme heat. As a result, I don't think we'll eat much but want to check out some great restaurants while we are there.

On Monday Lauren and I are having lunch at CRT and as a family I think we are going to do the Pirates and Pals Cruise (may cancel).

At AKL, I think we are going to try Boma the day we are at the park.
How is Cape May? Figured we may as well try it since we'll be at the BC. What are some good restaurants at Epcot that we can walk to?

Finally, our plan is a low key vacation with lots of swimming, relaxing, park hopping, and DH and I want to head to Jellyrolls. Are there any fun things you recommend? I'm overwhelmed. :scared1:

This is a great summer itinerary. We will do the early breakfast (in the lounge when we are CL'n) hit the parks early then do either A) a lunch ADR in the park before we come back for our mid day rest or B) eat light lunch or snack and do an early dinner ADR before casual touring in a park for the evening.

The great thing about EPCOT dining is there is something for just about everyone. LeCellier is always recommended but we enjoy the Mexican restaurants (all of them) Via Napoli, Garden Grill, Yakitori House etc. Really at EPCOT it is a very personal (food) choice. We love doing the counter service there for a little bit of everything

Love Cape May and Boma. Always eat too much at both. When you visit AKL take time to look around and relax. Sit in the lobby and soak it up. Very low key spot to stop and smell the roses (more like fire pit and animals but you get the picture).

I am from MI too and think we can handle August (we will see)! Just had to throw that in. We are doing something similiar. We are staying CL and I actually planned almost all out TS meals for 4:30-5 so I figure we will park in the AM, do lunch, nap and pool, eat a nice meal and head back. I think we can eat if we are refreshed from our break. We are doing Norway Princess Dinner, Cape May, Boma, 1900 Park Fare and right now Germany but I am holding out hope for the Garden Grill. i think no matter what you will have a grea time.

You are smart to stay CL. I won't do Disney in the summer without it!!! !

Could I ask why? We're going in August 2012, and it has never occurred to me to go CL. We do DDP, have a Garden Grocer delivery of water, snacks, and breakfast items. We have breakfast in the room, then hit the parks for rope drop.

What is it about CL that makes such a difference.

I'm so excited...we'll be staying BC CL in 2 weeks! It's only for a weekend getaway, but since DH rarely has 2 weekend days off in a row, he wanted to do something, and when he said see what was available at BC, who was I to argue? :rotfl: We're longtime BC fans, but this is our first splurge on CL, the price difference was so minimal, I couldn't pass it up! We've got AP's, and visit often (it's only an hour from home!) so the majority of our time will be spent at the resort itself. I've been reading this thread, as well as the CL thread, but this one is more fun! Marlton Mom, I love your noodle story, and I totally hear you, they've become wimpy noodles, only the best ones will do at my house too. :lmao:

I just love grabbing a quick breakfast, making rope drop and then we always break right after lunch. By this point I am sooooo yucky and sweaty feeling. I love hitting CL for cold ice tea and just sit there for 30 minutes or so having a snack and cold drink. Bc it is summer we always have many resort days.Well on swim days we are in and out constantly grabbing drinks or cooling off, etc. Sometimes we are just so tired and hot we don't feel like returning to the park or making our ADR.So we eat in the lounge that night. We heavily use the lounge in the summers. I also like having a place to go myself if I wake up early on a sleepin day, etc. But for my family of 3 we really get our moneys worth in the summer. We don't do the DDP and have a TS every lunch....

Does BC have WiFi in the rooms? I realize it isn't free, but when I read something WDW sent about the resort, some of the room descriptions at CL said WiFi was available, but that wasnt stated for every category of CL room. I wondered if it was an omission or if it was only available in some rooms and not others, which seems odd.

TIA!

Are you also suppose to be going to the Beach? Our kids think we are going to the Beach too, but we are really going to the Beach Club

No--we were originally going to the beach, but my kids changed their minds.

Woo-hoo!!!

I bet you are more than ready!

I am!

Here's a Very Important Mission for anyone who is at BC/YC or is going soon - according to the wdw website restaurant menus the Key Lime Pie is no longer being offered at the Captain's Grill.

That is one of my favorite desserts in all of Disney.

If anyone could please check the menu when they are there I would be so appreciative.

I'll be so disappointed if the key lime pie is removed from the menu. It is sooooo good!

Thanks!

I'll be at the Captain's Grille in a little more than two weeks, so I'll let you know. I'll try to use my phone to send a message in that day.

I don't think there is wifi over at the BC, but there is at the villas. I could be wrong, however.

I am hoping to hop on the pool noodle exchange from July 23rd to July 29th. We will take a picture and sign them. :dance3: They will get lots of use with three tween boys.

Yeah, I love weighing in on food questions!!!

First off, the CL breakfast is perfect. We have a quick early morning breakfast and then hit the early EMH park at opening. We are usually hungry for lunch and ready for a break from the heat around 11, before the lunch crowds start to build.

Boma- love it!!!

Here are my reviews from the two times we ate there:

Cape May Buffet- love it!!! Also dined there in both 2009 and 2010.

One of the things we like to do is get food from some of the great counter service places in EPCOT and bring it back to our room for lunch, before heading to the pool. Some favorites are Sunshine Seasons in the Land, Tangierine Cafe (Morocco) and sandwiches from France.

Hello friends! We checked in yesterday morning and were surprised by a big load of pixie dust right off the bat---upgrade to club level! We have a standard view that is awesome! We overlook the solarium and are just four rooms down from the lounge. The only construction workers we've encountered were having a noodle duel and singing Under the Sea!?!? Stormalong Bay is even better than we anticipated. And the BEST thing happened today on our way back from Epcot for a late afternoon rest----we met Teena! She is beautiful and so sweet and genuine!!! No-one should ever feel too bashful to tell her "hi". She was so warm and easy to talk to. Thank you, Teena! I have now fulfilled my "see a celebrity while at BC" wish. ;-)

Full report when I return.

Cheers to all. I have to get back to the secret closet. It's my turn to funnel a grey goose slushy while playing Marco polo and posing for yet another leg lamp sculpture.

Xoxo, Alice'
Awesome, Alice!! What a dream to be upgraded to CL. I hope your pixie dust continues and keep us updated!! :flower3:

We will be checking in tomorrow night. Never checked in as late as we will be, and I'm hoping we won't be stuck in a "all that we have left" room :lmao:
What time do you consider "late"?? We checked in at 1 a.m. once (at POR). We had to schlep our own luggage to our room, and thankfully it was a close building and perfect location.

This time we will be checking in around 4:30 p.m., and I am afraid of the "all we have left" too, but it'll still be a garden view and still be the YC, and I'll be happy. However, I would never pass up the opportunity to be upgraded to standard view CL!! :lmao:

You are welcome to put us down whenever you are ready to get into 2012. We will be there March 10-17, 2012. Having on the front page list will be one more place in writing, which makes it that much more definite.

I can't wait for March 2012! :banana::banana::banana:

I just noticed your signature shows 2013. I'm a teeny tiny bit anal. I'm sure you all haven't noticed!

Dee. I updated meklmoms end date (typo) and added MsCoz bookend dates for July. Thanks, Mike.

Got it! Thanks!

I'm so excited...we'll be staying BC CL in 2 weeks!

Didn't see you on the Guest List. Let us know your dates if you would like to be added.

I'm not sure exactly what brand but they are the filter type and have a 10 or 12 cup pot. Just be aware that the filter packs they leave you are intended for 4 cups. I didn't pay attention the first time i used it and filled the pot completely. Needless to say that was some pretty weak coffee.:rotfl2:

Not sure if you're referring to the villas or the resort - but we definitely did not have a 10-12 cup pot at the resort. It was a 4 cup.

Creativeamanda - thanks for taking the "Key Lime Pie" mission! I really hope that the wdw is wrong - it's one of my favorite desserts at Disney. I mean it's Florida - more key lime pie!!!!

Don't forget the Mini-Dis Meet on July 25 at 6:00 in the Solarium.

Anyone who's interested in joining just post and Dee will add you to the list on page 1.

We enjoyed the Flying Fish on the Boardwalk- nice to have it close by-quick boat ride across the lake. We also had fun on the boardwalk with performers after dinner. It was good with kids.
EPCOT has so many good places to eat and you have so little time. We liked the QS -Kringla Cafe in Norway, Tangerine Cafe in Morocco. Our only table service was San Angel Inn. Did this mostly because of the atmosophere. Got a horrible table, we like it the least of all the restaurants on the trip. We did the Garden Grill the first night to get the kids excitement about meeting Mickey under control. Characters spent alot of time with us. We enjoyed the food- seemed like good home cooking. I was surprised at how interested my kids were about the Land Ride and how much they enjoyed it. Ended up being one of their favorite attractions of the trip. The liked seeing the veggies that were supposedly part of our meal.
We also liked Ohana- drove from BC to Poly, after dinner we rode the resort monorail round trip for the kids. Whispering Canyon was fun. We drove there also then took their boat to MK for the evening.

Sorry taking up precious space with... OOPS-double post!

We don't land until 6:35 tomorrow night. So my best guess is that we should be checking in at 7:30ish. I think I'd be happy with the broom closet at Disney World, but I would LOVE CL :worship:

We are going to be staying at the Yacht and Beach Club over the 4th of July in a conceirge room and were just wondering if you have any tips/tricks for us.
We are actually a large party of 9 and are staying at SOG (Shades of Green) and then splitting up over the 4th of July weekend so that part of the group can be at Yacht and Beach Club since the kids have always wanted to stay and play in the pool (and so has mom!). Our group consists of me, my husband, and our two boys (11 and 4), my mom, her husband, my two brothers (19 and 11) and my brothers girlfriend.
We have never stayed at Yacht and Beach Club but are wondering just what will be in store for those lucky few in the group who will be staying at that location instead of SOG.
Cathy

Would you like to be added to the page 1 Guest List? If so, please post your dates (I know it is over the July 4 weekend) and which resort.

Sounds like you have a fun family trip planned!

Well, if you have been following the saga of the Fantasy Mousekeeping Closet and Spa, you know that the BC Suite (that's Broom Closet) Suite is another upgrade to wish for!

How else can one be expected to sweep up all the Pixie Dust???
