Not trying to highjack this thread...natebenma and DisMom72, I'm very interested in your opinions of Universal and RPR too. Natebenma where are you staying?? We are headed to RPR Aug 9th for two nights CL before we arrive at Beach Club for six nights (not CL:sad1:). Never stayed at either place, so we are super stoaked!!!!!

We are staying at the Portofino Bay Resort for 4 nights. When I return, I will be posting over on the Universal Board and I will be writing a TR- so I will let you know when those are in process. Probably will not post too much on this forum.

Don't want to turn this into a Universal thread but just wanted to add that we loved Portofino and Royal Pacific. In fact we've been splitting our last few trips since our first stay at Universal in January. The resorts are really lovely - hope you have a great time. Can't wait to read your trip report!

Mission up for grabs!!!

Could someone take a few pictures of these pictures? I would love to add these to our Marketplace photo thread.

pixarmom- I don't think I have started a wishlist for you yet, but if I don't get this request before your trip, would you like the assignment?

I'd be happy to get some pictures if you need any, let me know which ones.... 13 days until BC check-in:dance3:

You will not be disappointed with either one! The Beach Club is our favorite place ever! Have stayed at moderate and other deluxe resorts, but the Beach Club has stolen our hearts! We can not wait to get back in 9 days! The RPR also wonderful! I will post a few details over on the Universal thread that I think you will be interested in. I'm sure you will have a super time :cool1:

There was another recent guest who was disappointed that they didn't have BINGO while her family was there.

Can I just say that I would kick some butt in the Trivia contest!

When we stayed at BC in 2009, before they reclassified the rooms, the room we had I would think would now be classified as GV. It was right along the walkway that the secret side door near room 1501(?) is and on the 2nd floor. During the day or view was the walkway and trees. At night our view was the fireworks from illuminations. We had a full balcony. Like I said I would THINK this woul be a GV room since it looked out at the woods and not a rooftop, parking lot, or any kind of water. Hope this helps.

Our room in March 2010 fit this description almost exactly, except it was 3512 on the third floor. I would guess that it's now GV. In addition to the trees, secret entrance walkway and Illuminations at night, we could see the Eiffel Tower! That fireworks photo I posted a while ago is from that room. I don't think I have a daytime photo without the kids in it.

Dee, please start up the next photo mission list! This is a perfect opportunity for missions - we'll arrive at BC after the cruise around 10am on a Sunday and we'll be there (without park tickets and with plenty of resort/pool time) until 3pm the next day.

We really have a lot of fun with these - I have lots of "outtake" photos with the boys trying to pop their heads in or waving a hand in front of the camera. And our youngest likes to hold the index card with the list and check off the missions!

Hey Dee,
Good luck on you Trip Which Must Not Be Named. Was thinking that it was getting close.

Hats off to you and your family for having the guts enough to book it. Always wanted to go to 'The Other Place' but could never pull the trigger to do it (and always found an excuse not to). Someday.....and your trip report may tip the scales to a go or no go!

Have fun and enjoy

Thanks Mike!

We have a pretty ambitious schedule! I'm sure that's a surprise.

Monday- 7 am flight, Universal Studios
Tuesday- Islands of Adventure (Harry Potter Land)/ Sea World in the evening
Wednesday- Magic Kingdom. SURPRISE! The boys don't know we are going- eating dinner at Kona. Hope to make it until dark.
Thursday- Sea World, possibly US/IoA in evening
Friday- IoA/US, whatever we want to redo, until 6 pm flight.

I am excited about the trip but so sad we are not staying at the Beach Club this summer!

I really want to visit WWoHP, was hoping to swing by for a day in January while looking at grad schools, but then the tickets went up and then we'd also have to get a hotel for an extra couple nights and it ended up too expensive. When I am hopefully a Florida resident next year, I should be able to make it there.

But to keep this on topic, we are now planning another trip for December '12 or '13 and hoping to stay at BCV!

Halfway through packing!

I can't believe we leave in 5 days. It's funny packing this time because I have a small suitcase for our first night at Buena Vista Palace, then a bigger bag for our two nights at the Grand Floridian, and then many, many bags for our 15 nights at BC! Then I'll have to repack before we leave for our four nights in Hilton Head!!!

To the Universal questions - we stayed twice at HRH CL and loved it. My favorite part of the resort was renting the cabanas - they were great!

I can take a couple of pics of the ones I have at home if that helps.

I'm back at my beloved BC in late August and happy to take pictures of them then, though I'm sure someone will beat me to it long before then!

J

If you could take some pictures of your pictures, that would be great. You can either post them here or if it is easier for you, you can e-mail them to me. I think there is an option to e-mail me by clicking on my screen name. This will disclose your e-mail address to me. I can also PM my e-mail address to you if you prefer.

Thanks!

Dee

Thanks everyone for the encouraging words about our upcoming Beach Club and Royal Pacific CL (Universal) stay. I feel bad for wishing away the kids summer break so that our vacation comes sooner but I CAN'T WAIT :banana::banana::banana::banana:

Hi can you tell me if you had a full balcony ? TNA

Each trip I buy one of the beautiful YC/BC paintings that are sold in the Marketplace gift shop. They are beautiful recreations of paintings of the resort done by artist Alexandria Skordas.

You can buy them framed or unframed. I purchase them unframed and then frame them myself locally since I'm not crazy about the frames they offer at the Marketplace.

Just a thought.

J

They are nice!!!

Great idea......do they still sell them?

woohooo!!! Single Digit Dance!!! :cool1:
I'm so excited to be going back... a little nervous about the heat, but hey I'd rather be hot and sweaty in Disney then nice and comfy at home!

Hope everyone there now and going soon have wonderful trips. If anyone needs anything just let me know I'd be more than happy to pick anything up/ take pics/etc.
