Had such a great time at the Beach Club. We will certainly be back again. Also, it was a pleasure getting to meet Teena. Coming back to the real world was a shock to the system. I'd be back in a heartbeat if I could.

To anyone having second guesses about a stay at the Beach Club, don't. Definitely worth it.

It was wonderful meeting you!!!

Hi can you tell me if you had a full balcony ? TNA

We did! We really enjoyed so many things about that room! We could see the Illuminations fireworks from our balcony and we could hear the music very clearly - much more clearly than I could hear from the bridge between BC and BWI (but there were lots of noisy people that night!)

This thread is fantastic! It's swaying my decision over to the deluxe side....

Are there any basic rooms at BC, YC or BCV that would have a view of fireworks or are those all from the more upscale ones?

Welcome!!!! So glad you joined us!!

We've stayed in several different BC rooms with different views and loved all of them for different reasons. But the room I mentioned above - 3512 - was a standard room in March 2010. It's probably a garden view since BC reclassified the rooms earlier this year. But garden view is only $6-$10 more than a standard room per night, and we think it's worth it. So while nothing is guaranteed, you could book garden view and request something facing Epcot.

Here's the view of the Illuminations fireworks from our room that I mentioned:

Great info! We have a garden view reservation for our trip next month. Do you (or anyone else) know if most of the Epcot-facing rooms have full balconies? I'm trying to figure what would be the better request...full balcony or an Epcot facing location. If a majority of the rooms in that Epcot-facing wing have full balconies, I may play the odds and request that area. If not, I may just request the full balcony, and hope to get lucky on location.

Thank you so much I called and had the request put on our reservation.:wizard:

Earlier tonight just for fun I was looking at the WDW website special offers page under their August - September Room Only offer and when I looked up the dates we are staying at the Beach Club it said the rate per night from 08/31/11 - 09/04/11 in a Lagoon View - Club Level room is $414.00 for the first two nights, then $424.00 for the last two nights.

Well this past March when we reserved our Lagoon View - Club Level reservation our rates are $385.75 for the first two nights, then $392.25 for the other two nights. Now I will admit math was never my best subject, however when looking at the number it's obvious the discount we got this past March is a lot better then what's being offered now for the same dates.

So my question is with the discounted rates that are more expensive compared to what we got, how much % off the rack rate is that?

We've had a reservation for a return visit to the BC for this August...then we've had a variety of developments, some eldercare issues that need me to stay closer to home, aslo some happier (I'm sending my hubby the uber-cyclist on his dream trip to experience some of the Tour de France a year earlier than the 50th bday I had planned for him!).

Long story made short, although I'd been holding out hope...to the bitter end...that we could make the August 21-28 trip work, that reservation will expire at the end of the evening tonight and we won't be following through.

So...if anyone is looking for a CL room for Aug 21-28, there will be one in the system as of midnight tonight! :(

It appears that you got 30% off rack rate, and the current discount with the more expensive rates is 25%.

Thanks for your reply, although I remeber seeing that we got 35% off. However like I said before since the rate we got is less expensive compared to what is being offered now I won't complain about it.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Good luck with your situation and remember Disney will be there when you are finally ready!

Teena,

Hope you and Bob have a great trip. Looking forward to hearing the news and seeing some pictures if you can. Tell Jeanne we are all wishing her the best.

What is the transportation like between BC and Universal? Taxi, of course, but how much and how long? DS is talking about WWHP now and who knows when we could come back again...

We will be traveling from Universal (Portofino) to the MK on Wednesday and are debating whether to use a taxi (around $40-$50 each way, probably 30-40 minutes) or to use the car service that will bring us to/from the airport ($80 round-trip plus tip)

Thank you so much. We are all packed ... one suitcase for us and one full of stuff for Peanut. Jeanne was at the doctor's yesterday and she was told we need to be at Spring Valley Hospital at 5:30 AM on Monday. Peanut should be here by 7:30 AM. I probably won't get computer access until we get Peanut home on Wednesday at which time I'll get pictures to Dee to put on the thread!

How is Kate doing? She is still in Vegas?

Do you (or anyone else) know if most of the Epcot-facing rooms have full balconies?

I'm not sure, but I remember a mix of full and small balconies in that area. Marlton Mom was in that area taking some great photos of the secret entrance recently, so maybe she remembers!
