Question about room choices for next year (Yes, I'm actually talking about May of 2012, told you the other day that I needed help!!!)

I was pricing out BC / YC rooms, and neither one offers a Standard View room for the last week of May???

Is this something they are doint away with? Can't be booked already?? or can it.

It would not surprise me. We booked our vacation last week for next May 25th-8th June through Virgin Atlantic and we got the last SV room at the Yacht Club as there was nothing SV let at BC.Virgin said that it was their allocation gone . Also on the UK Disney web site the only room showing now is a Lagoon View, i was so relieved because a LV would have cost us an extra $2000:scared1:Or maybe Disney US are releasing a little at a time:confused3

I agree with PP's suggestions for breakfast.
Ticker looks good, it is the boats that head to DtD from POR, POFQ, SSR & OKW. It is going by SSR, you can see it in the background so it has to be the POR/POFQ or the OKW boat. Love that boat ride. The POR/POFQ goes by the THV. It was really cool going by as they were fixing/building them. Very relaxing

LOL Not that is makes a difference but I'm pretty sure the picture has POFQ in the background, which makes me think the boat is coming from DTD. The way the railings/walkway are look more like POFQ than SSR. :confused3

But yes, it is a very relaxing ride. My mom was obsessed with all the spanish moss on the way-it's mentioned in a book series she was hooked on at the time. Too bad we won't get to take that ride/have time to visit those resorts when we are staying at the BEACH CLUB VILLAS in 116 days (almost time for the Double Digits Dance!).

Since we are already doing Captain's Grill for lunch we'll do Kouzina's one morning and Cape May another - thanks all for the help w/ that.

Now about that ticker - yeah, I was staring proudly at my new ticker after having posted a reply somewhere on the DIS just to see the new ticker show up and it dawned on me - wait, aren't the friendship boats enclosed? That boat is open, it - aw, that looks like the boat I took to and from DTD/POFQ in 2008, mmmm, that is the boat I took to and from POFQ/DTD in 2008!

I love boat rides of any sort - but especially that one, it's so cool to see the riverbanks, and like you, doccoc, I saw them building the THVs - as I recall they were still tearing down some older buildings and just starting the THVs - I was curious @ the time about what they were building.

I can't believe our trip is almost here. We will be headed to the Beach Club this Saturday. Thanks to everyone here for your wisdom and insght when it comes to eveything about the YC/BC. There is no way I could take a successful trip to WDW without my disboards knowledge. Thanks again everyone!:)

I'm SO EXCITED that the 2012 rates are out!

I've emailed our travel agent for a quote-- just a fomality really, since I'm determined to go.

But I've got to admit, the price has me catching my breath.

7 nights with DDP and parkhoppers, before I think about airfare, is $6300 and change. OUCH!! (PLUS AIRFARE!!)

PIN CODE, PLEASE find me!!!!

I'm with you - pin code please find me! :thumbsup2

We are definitely going in March, but I'd be happier if I could trim some money off the cost.

Here's hoping that there are discounts in our future. :)

Hi there. I'm looking for a little help. I'm thinking about doing a split stay between poly and bc next May. 6 nights at each resort with deluxe dining. We have Aps so I can splurge a little. I'm still hoping for a good Ap discount. We have stayed at the poly and loved it. We have visited the pool at the bc and loved it. I'm a little concerned about keeping track of my kids age 8 and 9.I was wondering how you manage with a pool that size. My kids are great swimmers, and I'm not a helicopter parent. I like to give my kids the freedom to play and swim with other kids their age, but I also like to kind of keep an eye on them. Is this even possible at this pool. Is there a place to sit that is best? Do you feel safe letting them take off on their own to explore the pool? My kids are that age where I don't need to be in the pool with them(they would rather play with other kids), but not quite old enough that I feel comfortable letting them out of my sight for too long. Is the pool really as big as it looks?

I think this may be our plan:

We'll book 7 nights at BC, garden view, for August 2012, with parkhoppers and DDP.

If we don't get any sort of a PIN or Discount, we'll cut one night off. That will save us almost $600.

I hate the thought of doing it, but at least it gives me a plan.

There was an energetic discussion of this very topic a while back. Start on page 122, post #1830 by Ocalla and follow along for about four or five more pages. There were some really great observations by many of the frequent users of SAB on this. Also, look at the detailed map on page one that is there. It will give you an in-depth overview of the SAB area and what you can expect. I would imagine that with the age of your children and the fact that they are good swimmers you should really have very little concern as long as you get them to check in with you every once in a while.

Happy planning!

Yep, it looks like they must be sold out for SV at the end of Next May already. I jumped around with dates to see if they even still had SV as an option, and looking at the week before it is available.

Good news abou GV, is that it's only about $90 more for the week.

Still have not booked, I will wait and see if a discount/promo becomes available.

Yes I know, probably a really lame question, but I don't know the answer(s), so here goes:

What would you recommend we not miss (2 adults) while staying at the YC. No kids, and we are really lost. First time without characters.......:lmao:

Man that is crazy expensive!!

We are going for 7 days at the end of August. 6 nights, DDP, Park Hoppers and airfare from Boston (purchased separately) for $4,500 total. We took advantage of a 40% off of the room pin we received but even without the pin $6,300 (without airfare!!) is much more than we would of paid. I think we saved $1,300 with the pin so that would of brought us to $5,800 WITH airfare.

I would hold out on booking for sure. A better rate is sure to come along.

I'm praying for the same thing! :scared1: Historically they offer room % discounts for when we plan on going (May) but I'm not banking on anything. This is our dream vacation..so I'll spend what I have to...but I'd love a discount ;)

We used to live in Saint Stephens, SC until two years ago. We spent a week in charleston with family and then a week there in Myrtle Beach. Came home last night late because there was a wreck near ashville, nc on HWY 26 and then after I ate at one of my favorite places steak and shake about 30 min later I started having exstreme pain in my right side. So I stopped at the ER on the way home and now they think I need to have my galbladder out. A shot of Morphine and ultra sound scheduled tommorow morning. I don't have time for all of this! I got class tommorow to finish out foster care training and finals in my college classes. Oh ya also calling in ADR's in the morning also! This is sooo not the time for me to have surgery! LOL

All I can say is... :scared1: That's crazy. It seems that Disney is betting on there being a lot of people who are unaware of Disney's discounts who are willing to pay rack rate. That said, could it be possible Disney jacked up prices so much to compensate for discounts? I know that they've said they're trying to wean people off the discounts, but this strategy seems unlikely given the reality of the economy.

I just looked back at that discussion and I suppose that people will never stop amazing me. :confused3 I have a four year old and either myself or my husband will certainly be with him at all times.

Just wanted everyone to know that some of the dates for Fantasmic have changed in November. So if you have Fantasmic Dinner reservations made for Nov check the dates and times to make sure that there were no changes made.

We are staying at the YC CL Nov 11- 18. We were not notified of the change, I found out from www.easywdw.com that there was a date change. I called the YC CL and had them check the dates for me, they said yes there was a change but they were not notified of the change. It was by me calling them that they were made aware of this!!!!

We were scheduled for a Fantasmic Dinner on Nov 17- Fantasmic is not being offered now on Nov 17, but it is now happening on Nov 16. I tried switching my dinner reservations from Nov 16 to Nov 17 (we had reservations for Ohana's on Nov 16) but because of the change there are no more reservations available for Nov 17. So for know we have reservations made for Tony's Town. I'll have to keep calling back to see if I can get into Ohana's. Oh well.....

We've gone from Standard View to Garen View to Club Level- Standard View.

I switched from Standard to Garden because I really didn't want a roof top or parking lot view. I switched to Club Level to surprise DH and son. Who am I kidding, I wanted it for me too.

Now I'm having "view" remorse. I really don't want standard view. I am willing to give up the Club Level, DH is not. I've called a few times, no Garen or Water View available, really want Garden.

Is there a "best" Standard view I could request?

Thanks

Haven't been there but we are planning Yatchsman Steakhouse for our December trip. Most of our 'No kids/Not miss' moments involve eating!!

This is sooo not the time for me to have surgery! LOL

Hope all is well heather  .

Thanks

We booked Standard CL for our August trip......If it comes down to view vs CL then CL wins hands down. You could request 'Near the lounge' It is nice to just pop over and get a snack or drink and walk back to the room. And sometimes the standard views come alive at night with the fireworks. Hang in there.....you will be fine!

Ouch... had mine taken out 3 years ago now. Walked around with the gallbladder pain for years (would come and go). Went to Disney one year and had a gallbladder attack while in DTD with DD 23 at the time!! I waited it out and it went away eventually. Got really bad 3 years ago 4th of July weekend I ended up in the hospital for 3 days (and they didn't take it out then). Had it taken out 3 weeks later. Took a few weeks to be back to myself. Take care of yourself and good luck!!

I agree with MickeyT that an "adults only" trip usually centers on the chance to upgrade the dining options. That's the first thing I would look at. Places like Yachtsman, Narcoossee's, Jiko, and other "uper-tier" locations that you haven't tried before are now available to you. Second thing I would look at are the various "behind the scenes" tours that are available. If you haven't done "Keys to the Kingdom" I would highly recommend that. Then plan on spending a lot of time in Epcot's WS and really look at the countries, their stores, their stories and their shows. You'll find a lot of things you've missed while with children who might not be patient enough for some of these activities. Might I also suggest you play a round of miniture golf? It really is a lot of fun at the Fantasia course right across the road from the Swan.

Have fun planning!
