We normally go to WDW (stay on site) every Thanksgiving.. however, starting in 2011, we may do something different (sparing a long story here.. lol) - my mom has offered us her timeshare (she will be going too, but it will save me a hotel bill!) but, she would either do Orlando (not Disney - except maybe 1 day -- thinking Universal, Sea World.. etc) or she has her home base in Myrtle Beach.

Both seem to have lots to do for my dd's age ( she will be 10 1/2 then)... i am just torn, as i am just use to WDW -- so this is just out of my "zone". :upsidedow and not sure which to choose.. Any advice?

would think Myrtle beach would be too cold in Nov.

so would stay with Orlando.

RCI now trades with DVC resorts - so you might be able to stay onsite if she trades with RCI.

II - no - but there are some nice Marriotts. the nicer Marriotts are closer to Seaworld.

I had the same decision to make this past summer only we were paying for it either way. We chose Myrtle Beach for something different and we hated every minute of it. Don't get me wrong the beach was great but after about two days the kids were ready to move on. We stayed at Dunes Village and the kids 8,7, and 4 at the time got really board with the water park there. So back to Disney for us and we stay off site and don't do the parks everyday but just enjoy it there so much more. I too think Myrtle Beach in Nov. would be to cold to enjoy the beach and ocean.

Hi, thanks! I know MB will be too cold to swim in the ocean, but being from RI we aren't really going there to swim in the ocean anyway.. LOL We can do that here. ;) I googled temps for MB in Nov, and it's about low 60's.. then again, when we go for TG to WDW every year, temps can widely vary - last Nov. in WDW, it was about mid 60's for most of the time we were there, and 40's at night!!! Brrrrrr.... I didn't go in the pool even once.. :( (dd did a couple times, but doesn't seem to bother the kids as much.. LOL)

Anyway, this will just be a one time thing-- We will be back at WDW for Thanksgiving 2012.. back onsite.
My mom owns thru II, at the Marriott OceanWatch, in MB, which is BEAUTIFUL! We stayed there for a night once a couple years ago, and we really enjoyed the area - and i know there is alot more there now..

I have been keeping an eye on my mom's II trade page, and right now the Sheraton Vistana resort in Orlando is up - which seems to be nice, and a DIS board sponsor, which gives it credit for me..

I am just torn.... can't decide. (Life should be full of such hard decisions, huh? LOL)

Although I love Myrtle Beach in the summer, definitely in November I would choose Orlando!

If she owns a Marriott I would exchange in to a Marriott. The exchange fee is less than doing an outside exchange. Also, IMO, nothing compares to the Marriott's. She also has an internal exchange 24 day preference within II. So if there isn't something available now, by placing a request she she should have no problem getting a Marriott in Orlando. What you see on line is what is left over after all of the requests are filled. Since Thanksgiving is a popular time, 2BR units for that week go quickly.
