**2011** Epcot Food & Wine Festival HAS ENDED. 2012 Festival 9/28 - 11/11

Hey, at least you get TIW mailings. I never do. There have been TIW events while I'm on property that I didn't know about since I don't get the mailings...I'm guessing they go the same place that my D23 membership materials went...

Yet somehow, I get 4 copies of everything from DVC!

I never got my TIW booklet either.

Should I be concerned that my charge for the french regional lunch did not show up on my credit card yet? I did receive a confirmation number when I booked. just worried :confused3

also anyone know if the beer and pizza tasting on 11/1 is filled?

Is the charge showing as "pending"? Mine was about 5 minutes after I booked.

I never got my booklet either. I always get their emails so I'm pretty sure I'm on a "list" somewhere!! ;)

I see Jamie Deen is supposed to appear at the F&W but cannot find any info on when. does anyone know when and where?:confused3 Thanks

Hi fellow foodies! I was tossing around the idea of attending either the First Bites Opening Reception or the PFTS, but I am lactose intolerant. Any input as to whether there will be foods that I will be able to eat?

Thanks for any help.

This week I've received my Disney Visa booklet, my Annual Passholder newsletter but not my TIW booklet. IRCC, it seems to be this bad every year.

We never received our TIW booklet. Every year it seems that Disney says they will be more organized for the festival...and every year it seems to get just a little bit worse :rolleyes1

Okay, I know my questions are redundent but there are so many pages on this thread! lol!

I'm going to WDW October 11th to the 16th. (Tuesday through Sunday). It's our first time going and we're staying in the Animal Kingdom Lodge (which I'm super psyched about).
My fiance and I are both foodies and work in kitchens for a living so the F&WF seemed like the best time to go to Disney! I want to know as a first timer on a little bit of a budget, what should we do? PFTS looks amazing, but so does Disneys 3D Dessert Discovery. As for seminars, the information is vauge but I do want to do some! If it helps, I'm a drinker but he does not drink at all. I feel lost in the sauce people. Help? Recommendations???

If it's not on your credit card by now you likely do not have a ressie. Call Disney right away.

Could it still be 'pending' on your credit card? When I did my bills this morning, I noticed my events were still in the 'hold' status on my credit card.

Sometimes it just takes a couple extra days to completely clear.

Since it's your first year, I might focus on just sampling the food and wine booths around the world showcase. That's what we did. Also, maybe some of the low cost food/beverage seminars (they're less than $15/pp). Unless there is an event when you're there that really catches your eye. But look at the events soon--they're filling up fast!

I am going to be honest... if you are a foodie and work in a kitchen I am not sure I would recommend many of the seminars. They tend to cater to the "lowest" denominator not the highest. I have enjoyed some of them but I am NOT a professional :)

PFTS might actually be something you would enjoy as the chefs are right there and happy to chat with you about the food, how they made it etc...

Okay...possibly more redundant questions, but I promise next year I'll be all over this thread with my advice for newbies! :flower3:

Apparently I know what I'm doing a bit, because everything I wanted to book was sold out by the time we called (goofed and called on Friday instead of Thursday for TiW discount..:rolleyes1). So now I'm trying to figure out if I should just book a culinary demo for when it fits into our schedule and is available, and disregard a geniune interest in the chef/food demo itself. Thoughts?

My in-laws are coming with us and I'm kinda like tour guide barbie  to them, so I would like to make sure they get a nice taste (haha, no pun intended) of events that are happening for F&W. (However, if we didn't go to any of the $$ special events, and I didn't mention them, I'm not sure they would know the difference...) We have done DLR F&W with them and they really liked it. And FWIW, out of the four of us, I'm really the only one who enjoys things like wine tastings and cocktails :goodvibes

Thanks for any help/advice. I wish I could just tag along to all the great plans you all seem to have!

MMM...Just found out the Flying Fish signature dinner on the 3rd highlights Moet and Chandon. While I like champagne I certainly do not want an all white wine lineup for my dinner. Do you think that will be the case? Can someone please find out how I can get this answered? I tried looking up a direct e-mail or phone number can't find it.

Are you booked for the dinner? Because it's sold out.

Are you looking for non-sparkling red wine? I can't think that Moet & Chandon produces red wine.

I don't know that anyone at Flying Fish may or may not be able to tell you now exactly what wines will be served at the dinner on November 3.

At the prices they are charging now I would not book the demos unless I was interested in the presenter or the food. For four people to go to one demo would be closing in on 50 bucks. Bringing newbies, you might be good just touring the food booths - but don't do it on a Friday night or a Saturday unless you just want to impress them with how many people can be crammed into World Showcase.

Here is another suggestion to call, call again. I was on the phone at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday morning to book one event only. I got through right away and then was on hold for 30 minutes, just to be told that it was already sold out. Something made me call back just now and I was able to book 3 tickets to what had previously been listed as sold out. Disney IT has sadly dropped the ball on all of this for this year.

FWIW, my DBF isn't a drinker either; I on the other hand do enjoy an adult beverage! We have never been to WDW F&W (only DLR F&W), so I did a "one for him, for me" booking. One culinary, one mixology. He'll try the beverages, but most likely I will drink his. It's a win-win! :)
