**2011** Epcot Food & Wine Festival HAS ENDED. 2012 Festival 9/28 - 11/11

I just found out the Sweet Sunday for 10/16 is totally sold out :(

And not even a celeb chef or anything. WHY did I wait so long?! It's been less than 48 hours!

Unfortunately, Elizabeth Faulkner (10/16) is a celebrity pastry chef. She has appeared on Food Network numerous times on shows such as Food Network Challenge and Iron Chef America.

I see a few people who have scheduled activities after the French Regional Lunch. DW and I did the FRL last year and ate and drank and drank and ate for 3 and a half hours, till we almost couldn't move. We went to the 3D Dessert later that evening and we were too full to eat all the yummy things there. Hope no one has that trouble.

I did the same last year and was ok. Especially now that the party is an hour later this year (at least for the one I'm doing) I didn't get to enjoy as much alcohol as my husband but I got my money's worth.

Success/failure as follows:

10/22 - Bacardi Rum Mixology
10/23 - Italian White Truffle Lunch (cannot wait--this is my birthday present to myself. ;-) )

11/3 - SOLD OUT by 7:45AM - Flying Fish Signature Dinner with Tim Keating
11/4 - 3D Dessert Party -- did it last year and LOVED it.
11/5 - French Cheeses
11/5 - Taste, Shake and Indulge like the French
11/6 - Mexican Tequila Lunch
11/7 - Food and Wine Pairings: Japan Tastings
11/7 - Best of Bocuse Dinner (can't believe that wasn't sold out!)
11/8 - Food and Wine Pairings: Morocco Tastings

Can't wait!!!!!!!!

LOL. It's amazing...it's like the left hand doesn't work with the right hand. How on earth do you run a company where the PR/Marketing/Social Media departments don't actually fact check? :headache:

My fantasy job is to take over eCommerce solutions for The Walt Disney Company. It is sooooo bad! I'm a software development executive in real life and I have no idea why has been so pathetic for so long. There is no reason at all, other than incompetence.

Uh oh!

Phew! That makes me feel better. I guess then we will not need to hit up the kiosks before the desserts.

It's not her anymore. According to the WDW website, it's Frederic Monti from Corporate Pastry Chef, PreGel America.

UPDATE:

OK so now I called back and talked to a different CM and the Sweet Sunday on 10/16 IS available! Booked it.

What's wrong with these CMs? They need better F&W training! This one tried to book me for the 3D dessert part on 10/14 first, then tried the other chocolate event on the 16th. I told her 3 times, I want the "Sweet Sunday at 10am on the 16th!" Her response? "I've never heard of that." Then she found it, finally.

That I would recommend. Last year my husband enjoyed his dinner at Via Napoli while I was still in my Food Coma from the lunch. (I did have an appetizer of mozzarella & tomatoes)

This year, I'm hoping my husband runs to Beaches and Cream while I'm at the event so when I go and take a nap after all the food I wont see anything food related until its dessert time.

I called right at 7 and had a 7 minute wait time. I got everything I wanted:

Signature Dinner at Wolfgang Puck's 10/12
French Regional Lunch 10/9
Japan Food and Wine Pairing 10/10
Party for the Senses 10/8

Now, to pay the credit card bill:rolleyes1

We are also doing the Japan Food and Wine Pairing on 10/10 and PFTS on 10/8! :yay:

Hi all,

I had a quick question about the PFTS wine view lounge. How early do you have to show up? Is there a special line for the lounge? I've been in nursing school the past 2 years, and so am not familiar with any new processes in place...thanks for the help!

I was on hold on my cell phone for 40 minutes yesterday morning. Our land line never did get through- even though I started at 7:00:00. After 10 minutes, I started trying with the cell phones. I had 2 cell phones on hold- and a HUGE stroke of luck- I did not drop the call! Phew!
I had 3 events we really wanted. We got our #1-choice, French Regional Lunch and I thought- great! We're OK here. No luck on #2 Japan Food & Wine Pairing, or #3 Taste, Shake & Indulge. I had 2 back-up, just in case. So we got choice #4- Cheese Seminar. eh- OK.

ooo... could be trouble for us. We're going to the Swan/Dolphin Food & Wine Classic after the French Regional Lunch on 10/7. Lunch is over at 3:30 and the Classic starts at 5:30. It shall be an interesting evening... :cool2:

Our events:
10/7 French Regional Lunch
10/8 Cheese Seminar

That's all for this year. But we are doing the Swan/Dolphin event for the 1st time- so that should be fun. :thumbsup2

I guess that's why they can keep charging those prices.

We've done the V&A dinner in the past and are lucky enough to be doing it again this year. It's definitely expensive, but given the amount of white truffles and the wines that were served, I really don't think they're making a lot off of the dinner. And it usually lasts 5-6 hours :scared1:

How early? Well, technically that's up to you ;)

WVL starts at 7:15, 15 minutes in advance of the general party. But for the past couple years, that's actually been a misnomer. That's roughly when they let you into the main hall, but we've been able to enter the main entry much earlier, where you have an opportunity to sit down and enjoy a cocktail before heading in. When we booked yesterday, they said to check in at World Showplace at 6:00 if not going to the concert.

I would want to be in that entry lounge area no later than 7:00 to make sure we didn't miss the early entry into the main area. You'll still have a check-in line to get through, and remember that it's always very crowded

I'm not sure that 6:00 is necessary. It could be that's when check-in will begin. We'll probably show up between 6:00 and 6:30.

How crowded will it be? :confused3....My wife and I were hoping to escape some of the crowd. Is it considerably more than a cique du soleil Tapis Rouge?

You will receive a phone call from a cast member detailing the logistics for the WVL. They will give you the time that the doors open. There is a side door and you will receive a different colored wrist band that allows you early entrance. The WVL is such a pleasant experience compared to the main crowded entry, enjoy!

A little off topic but it wil make the point to CALL and CALL agian. I had not booked our candlelight dinner ressies until yesterday. I went thru DVC. A very nice rep but almost everything was sold out, so I settled for some resturants. I went online myself later, did not realize that bookings were there until I followed a link on this thread for PFTS, thanks by the way....MOST of my choicesnwere there, and many more than the three I were told were available.

So for Food and Wine, call, call, call. ANd while the policy is for no cancellations, at times I have heard of them. Very limited, usually tragic events, etc. does not hurt to check back.

The booklet TIW sent me (arrived Tuesday afternoon, better late than never) doesn't say anything about Elizabeth Faulkner being at the Sweet Sunday on the 16th...it says Frederic Monti, Corporate Pastry Chef, PreGel America. Looks like he is the one who is going to be there. And it also looks like it's not sold out after all - just more cast members who don't know what they're doing.

I have no plans for after my French Regional other than to buy some beer and go see what's left of the Electric Light Orchestra.

Hey, at least you get TIW mailings. I never do. There have been TIW events while I'm on property that I didn't know about since I don't get the mailings...I'm guessing they go the same place that my D23 membership materials went...

Yet somehow, I get 4 copies of everything from DVC!

Should I be concerned that my charge for the french regional lunch did not show up on my credit card yet? I did receive a confirmation number when I booked. just worried :confused3

also anyone know if the beer and pizza tasting on 11/1 is filled?
