Also, I read your "shortcut" to DHS advice on another thread and thought it was very helpful - thank you!

Ditto -Thanks CRResortFan for the short cut info. I have never gone that way, I have always used the route in front of the Yacht Club, then cross the bridge, so this was new to me.

I put this info onto the front page.

Unless there was a sign about an additional cost for certain pearls, this sounds very wrong. Do you have the receipt? I'd try calling the resort or emailing guest relations about this.

Anyway, glad your vacation was so good. How did you like the new balcony furniture?

Hi Best Aunt. Was this your first BCV stay or are you a veteran? How are things at BCV?

The furniture on the balcony was nice. Did not know it was new. I will try calling guest relations and find out more about the pearl, seemed crazy expensive. I am missing the BCV very much right now. Back home in Chicago and its only 35-40 degrees. Husband was so funny. He is so against vacations due to costs, etc. but everytime he is on one he always comments how much of a good time he is having, etc. Pre-trip he told me not to plan any new vacations for a long time. Post trip he said maybe in 2 years we can come back. I really really liked BCV so next trip not sure where we will stay, we were thinking Contemporary and Bay Lake Tower but I am mixed. I guess I have plenty of time!!!

...you can use SAB until the end of your checkout day. There are lockers and showers available in the health club if you wish to freshen up before your flight.

Sweet!! The original plan for our family was to go to DTD after checkout and burn our last CS DDP credits at WPE or Cooke's. Now it sounds much more tempting to use that time at SAB (and less temptations to spend money at the DTD shops) and burn the credits at HH or thereabouts.

I'm assuming the Bell Desk can hold onto our luggage while we do this?

I might be working Saturday, June 4th, but should definitely be working that Sunday, June 5th, and perhaps Monday, June 6th. I normally just work on Sundays and Mondays but when I start radiation I have to have it Monday through Friday so the gentleman that does my job full time (Tuesday through Saturday) said he would switch my Mondays for his Saturdays.

I hope that works out, because after everything I've read here about you (yep, I've been reading every page of this thread) I am starting to think that our visit would be woefully incomplete if we didn't have a chance to say hi! (We'll be at BCV 5/30-6/6).

<<Fingers crossed with 60 days to go!>> :woohoo:

YUP, you can leave your luggage with Bell Services. Or perhaps your luggage would be checked in for your flight through RAC for Magical Express if the timing was right.

Starting today (03-24-2011) for the next 30 days, guests will be able to utilize free wireless Internet in certain areas of Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The pilot program is to test a new design of a wireless/cell phone coverage configuration. Free wireless Internet access will be available only in the lobby, main pool area, The Wave Restaurant and lounge, and the Convention Center common areas.

You connect to the network option labeled “Guest – Access (unsecured)”. Once you click on that option, you’ll be taken to a screen that prompts you to accept the terms and conditions. After accepting the terms and conditions, you’ll have free wireless Internet access. Guests can take advantage of Internet access in areas that aren’t part of the pilot program for a fee – $9.95 per day for public areas (wireless) and $14.95 per day for guest rooms (wired).

May I ask how you know there is free WiFi at the CR as a test-run and do you know for how long? Is this similar to when they had the in-room computers as a test-run? Is the free CR WiFi only in the lobby?

Thank you, beachclub! I'm going to post your comments to the CR thread.

I've only rented a two-person surrey cycle recently. I think you can squeeze five people into one of the larger cycles as long as at least one of them is a child. Whether you can sit back and let the rest of the family pedal depends on how many actually will do it and how strong they are. Another guest and I had to help push-start one family up the bridge by the S/D after they were unable to pedal up by themselves. Making those climbs is not easy; especially on your second or third time around.
We rented the two person surrey bike last time we were at BC. It was a workout and we are in shape people who go to the gym at least 5 days a week. Getting up the hills was exhausting! However, it was tons of fun and we'd definitely do it again.
I don't think you should have a problem fitting as a family of 5 as long as the kids are smaller and two can sit with an adult or all three kids sit together.
Thanks so much! We're a family of 5 with kids ages 11, 10 and 7. I was kidding about sitting back and relaxing whilst everyone pedals me around. Just thinking of something else to do on one of our somewhat free days.

Just want to let you all know I have heard from Teena. She is back home, very tired and very sore- too uncomfortable to post or catch up on the boards (she is going to have a few pages to get through when she gets to it)
:)

The surgeon is extremely confident that they got out everything this time. Teena expects to start radiation on April 25.

I knowTeena appreciates all of your prayers and good wishes for these past couple of months!

:grouphug:
Thank you for the update! Glad to hear it seemed to go well. She definitely should rest. Plus I'm sure the medication is a good knocker-outer.

Hi Dee - do you remember the last April Fools Day storm around here? It was 1997 and it was a doozy - we got like a foot of snow! I was stuck inside with a colicky baby, I'll never forget it. We'd better not get a repeat of that!:sad2:

I hope you all don't get snowed in! I'm watching sleet fall outside my window here at work.... in Virginia.... it's almost April for heaven's sake, where is Spring?!?!?:sad2:

I am in Alexandria, va and it is sleetijg on me

In Vienna now.... was in Sterling when it started... I think it's just raining outside.... but not sure.

The upside is that the traffic in Tysons is pretty light at the moment. I guess people left early when it started to fall, afraid of a repeat of the ice storm a while back.

Drive safe!

please be careful. You know how traffic is around here. I am on the MARC today letting someone else drive me to maryland. :rotfl:

So as some of you know, I made my theatrical debut over the weekend as the Cook in a Monty Python-style version of The Canterbury Tales.

I just want to let you know that it went very well!

Great to see another theater person here! Community theater has been a hobby of mine for more than a quarter century. I'm in rehearsal now for "The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940" which goes up in early May and closes right before our trip to WDW! I'm playing a Hollywood director who returns to Broadway to direct a new musical with a madcap cast and creative team. It's going to be a lot of fun.

Just checking in as quickly as I can! Back from Williamsburg and leaving for Florida today.

Teena, you have been in our thoughts and prayers - welcome home - I'm hoping to catch your report this morning before we leave again. Hugs to you! Meeting my parents in Florida tonight, and hoping to share some good news about your surgery with them.

Doccoc, so glad to hear the cancer is contained - we're thinking of you.\

Robyn and Amanda, thanks for keeping us all posted - continued positive thoughts and prayers for your parents.:hug:

MarltonMom, I'm going to give this one some thought for my husband and three boys - it will be funny to see who they THINK they are!

gottaluvpluto, I photographed and consumed that green sunken treasure on the first page and I can share a few things! First, the sunken treasure is not on the menu at Hurricane Hanna's. I read here that I could request it and the bartender might be able to make one. The bartender (with quite a line behind me!) said, "OK - I can remember this - I just need to think." He was so friendly and seemed pretty happy as the ingredients came to mind one by one! I asked him to add the cherry because it would make the photo a little more interesting, but the rest was his creation! So I'm not sure if it's always green, but there may be a little bartender creativity involved in the sunken treasures now, as they are not on the menu.

Thanks to those who posted mini reports, welcome to all the new posters and how exciting for Erika to be there AND be sharing it with us right now!!!!

Thanks for the reply! I was just looking at the photos and thought maybe I had the wrong drink. Whatever I drank- it was awesome! I might have to give myself a mission and taste a sunken treasure from every bartender in Disney!

First of all I have to tell you how lucky you are to get a one bedroom villa at the Beach Club Villas. It's really hard to get in there unless it's your home resort and you are a member of the vacation club!

Wow! I'm surprised to hear that. I guess all hail my TA, then, since I'm not a DVC member and she got us a 1-BR villa at BCV for a week in late May, for a pretty good rate compared to what I was trying to book myself. We had similar good luck with a 1-BR villa at OKW in 2006....now checking the folds of my clothes for pixie dust...

I would go early. They open HP at 8 and we were thee around 7:40 ish. Stay in the HP part until you are completely finished. They were handing out time passes when we left to get back into HP. We went to Olivander's first when the line was short and then we went to the Forbidden Journey ride. We rode all the rides and then shopped. We also had it sent back to the room except for the food ( candy stuff they won't send). We ate lunch at Three Broomsticks early (10:45 ish) We went and did the rest of IOA that day and headed back around 2 ish to rest. The next day we went to HP again and rode the things what we wanted to do and then headed over to Universal. The FOTL passes helped a lot. We were done again around 2 ish.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Also if you can skip taking a bag to HP don't take one. The bag line is not too bad early in the morning but it is a lot easier.

Thanks! I was thinking of doing exactly that - 7:45 at the gate, 8:00 am to Olivanders, then FJ (Child swap), 10:45 am to 3 Broomsticks. Only issue I'm having is if there is enough in the soaking up of atmosphere to last from 9:00 - 10:45 am. Do you know at what time they started handing out passes to return to HP?

As Teena said, be sure and have him wear his birthday button everywhere he goes. Random people will wish him a happy birthday and believe it or not, that will end up being the highlight of the trip. Just a wonderful celebration of his birthday!!

Our celebration will be a dual one, with DW reaching a milestone birthday (she'd probably be embarrassed if I revealed which one) and DD18 graduating from high school. DD has had alternative learning issues her whole life, so the fact that she's going to college in the fall is a very special achievement. Is there a "Happy Graduation" button or something like it that I can request for her?
