Yeah for great news...sorry you have to go for another surgery:(

I got my pathology report on Tuesday...lets just say this is the first time I've been on the computer since:mad::headache:
I have been diagnosed with breast cancer and have had 2 days to process it...OK still in shock I am only 33 years old.
I am getting genetic test:headache:ing done to see if I have the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene...if so I will need bilateral mastectomy:( (They are suggesting that anyways since I am only 33.) I will also need my ovaries removed.
I could get a lumpectomy as long as the MRI doesn't find anything more. I have that scheduled for Monday.
I am trying to stay postive and plan our vacation but too much info lately and decisions to make:headache: My husband is having a rough time. We are planning to tell our 7 & 5 year old DD's(5yr old is already suspicious) once we have the MRI results and surgery details and what I plan to do.

Just thought I would give an update. Thank you everyone for your prayers.

Teena-I am glad you allowed everyone to know what was happening to you cause it has really helped me more than you know Thank you. I continue to pray for you.

Robyn- I hope your mother is doing better...my prayers to you and your family.

Shoot!!!!! OK, I'm right there with you ... know exactly how you are feeling (except for the age thing). I remember crying for four days when I got the first news. Please, please, please promise me you will not just go with what one team of doctors say. Please go somewhere not associated with the same place you are going to and get a whole second opinion. Remember, they had me originally scheduled for a double mastectomy. The Mayo redid the pathology and my left side is absolutely fine ... no cancer at all. The right side has been totally rediagnosed from the original diagnosis and is totally different. And I've heard this from so many other people too. You may end up with the exact same results and diagnosis but then you'll know for sure it's 100% right. I was even at the point where I was searching mastectomy bathing suits. Now, after the first surgery, and Dr. McLaughlin says the second one won't change the appearance either, you can't even see a tiny indention. The first doctor, before he decided I needed a double mastectomy said to remove the area (the same area my Mayo doctor just removed) would mean one-third of my entire breast would be gone and it would be horribly deformed (which for me at my age ... I didn't care so much).

If you don't go through a second opinion (and I mean you need to take all your mammos, ultrasound records, MRI results, biopsy results, etc.) with you, you will always wonder! And who knows, it could be like me ... you might get an entirely different diagnosis.

Feel free to PM me and I can PM you my phone number if you want to talk or cry or whatever. There are so many of us that have gone through it or are going through it and each case is so different but it does help to have "sisters" out there!!!

I figured I better go straight to the experts. We are DVC owners and one of our homes is at BCV but we have never stayed in the hotel portion of the resort.

My sister is taking my son and nephew on a short trip for SWW and she booked a one bedroom suite. The trip is going to be a surprise for the boys. I was wondering if anyone had any pictures of what a one bedroon suite at Beach Club looks like.

Thanks in advance

The one bedroom suites at the BC are on the first four floors and your key will give you access to the fifth floor (concierge lounge). The room has a long hallway leading to a study with a daybed. It has a walk-in closet. The bathroom is off the study and is the regular hotel room bathroom. Then a private bedroom with a king bed is off the study.

Is it possible to request ground floor with standard view rooms? Or are they all roof top views? I don't care what view I have. I'm just so happy I get to stay at beach club. :cool1::cool1: Finally!!! After 11 trips...

At the BC I do not believe there are any ground floor standard view rooms.

Doccoc2002, Teena and Robyn, Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. This thread is such a complete blessing. I remember reading the first page of this thread several months ago and having the line about "you may laugh/ cry, etc." and thinking, "Nah, not me.
Cry? I'm researching, Disney! C'mon." Well, those words have proven to be profound. I have indeed laughed many times and cried a few too. We are all going through so much it seems, but hang on to our Disney happiness to keep us going. I am fairly new here, but can say that I LOVE reading your posts and do so faithfully throughout every single day. We are a little family---the YC/BC family--- and by God, I think we ROCK! :thumbsup2

:grouphug:
Alice'

As another has already said Alice, you have written my thoughts and sentiments exactly.

Many prayers are coming your way Doccoc1002, Teena, and Robyn.

Love to you all,

Gretchen

Can anyone tell me how much a box of cereal is at the marketplace in Beach Club? Also can u get a gallon of milk at the marketplace (I saw that they sell half gallons in the pictures)? How much for a gallon or a half gallon? We are going in May and trying to decide if this will be a reasonable breakfast each morning. Thanks!!!

I think if I were going to get at least $50 in groceries, I would go ahead and order from the Garden Grocer to deliver. You can easily accumulate that much in necessities and if you have no car, it's a grat way to get the items you need.

I wish I could help. I zoomed in on my Marketplace photos because prices are listed next to several of the items pictured, but no price info for the cereal or milk. I can usually zoom close enough on those photos in iphoto to get price info and read some of the writing on the packages - but no luck for these two items.

On previous trips, we purchased lots of breakfast items from the Marketplace and thought the prices were quite reasonable. I photographed all of the grocery items and all of the refrigerator cases, and they only had the 1/2 gallons of milk at the time - no full gallons. But that was last month, so someone may have more recent information!

Just got off the phone with the surgeon. Good news and bad news.

Bad: One of the margins showed cancer cells so I have to have another surgery. Testing is 3/28 and surgery on 3/29.

Good: I do NOT have to go on that crazy cancer drug for five years. No hot flashes!!!!!!

Bob's really upset and I am too but I'm concentrating on the good news instead.

I'm sorry to hear that you need another operation. Hoping this is the final hurdle for you. Sending more prayers for a speedy recovery so this can all be a thing of the past!

Amanda

doccoc, so sorry to hear the news. I'll second everything Teena said - her experience and my mom's experience with breast cancer really confirms how a second opinion could possibly make a difference. My mom started with a bilateral mastectomy recommendation and that evolved (with a second opinion) to two surgeries, chemo and radiation. That was tough, but having a plan and confidence in her team made a difference, and she's been cancer-free now for years! (She just joined us at BC last month!) You're in our prayers.

I'm sending along lots of thoughts and prayers for you. So overwhelming! :grouphug:

Robyn - Sending prayers for your mother. I hope she starts to improve!

I could use a few prayers for my mother. She saw a cardiologist today who specializes in irregular heart rhythms. She's going to undergo a cardiac catheterization next Friday where they challenge her heart with electricity to try to cause some of the abnormal beats to happen. One of 3 things will happen: 1) Everything will be normal and she'll go home. 2) They'll find an abnormality and perform an ablation. (They "burn" the place where the abnormal electrical activity is coming from.) 3) They'll find an abnormality and implant a defibrillator. Messing around with electricity in the heart makes me nervous, especially since my mother is almost 73 and an ex-smoker with significant emphysema. And she had rheumatic fever which causes heart damage. Thanks!

Amanda

One thing I have read is that not all the rooms at the Beach Club have a balcony, so I was wondering what % of Lagoon View - Club Level rooms have them? On our reservation we didn't request a room with a balcony, although since we will have one the whole time we are at the Boardwalk Inn that's not a big deal if we didn't get one.

This has me wondering...
Does anyone know if the BCV all have full balconies?
I'm not one to request specific rooms, but we WOULD like a balcony we can sit on.
TIA

There are 3 club level waterview rooms that do not have a full balcony.

Oh Amanda, I'm so sorry about your Mom. Positive thoughts and prayers are coming her way. Please keep us informed.

On the days when we don't visit the parks right away we usually like to be out by the pool around 11:00 AM.
When were there in July it usally got the crowd(iest) after one. I believe this is when most of the 'go back to the pool for a swim" crowd shows up.

One thing I have read is that not all the rooms at the Beach Club have a balcony,.
There is a balconey in all the rooms. Some are full bacloneys and some are standing balconeys. You can step out but can't sit down and relax on the standing balconey. If you look at the exterior shots of the buliding you can see the smaller and larger ones

Hope this helps!

At the BC I do not believe there are any ground floor standard view rooms.

If you request a ground floor, is it safe to assume the room will have two chairs outside the outside door? Thanks in advance.

Oh no, I will most likely be flying out to Jeanne's on 8/23 to help her get ready for school to begin. Can't believe I'll miss you!

Does this mean you won't be there Aug 27 - Sept 1? I was looking forward to meeting you! :goodvibes
