I just booked a stay at the YC! Yay!

I never thought I'd stay there, so I don't know much about it. We booked a GV room. Is there any chance that we could see high Illuminations fireworks? I requested a room facing Epcot, but I don't even know if that's possible.

Should I change my request and request a room close to Epcot or the lobby? Any suggestions on room requests? Thanks!!!

We had a GV in February, 4th floor I do believe, and we could see quite a few of the high fireworks. Even from the bed; didn't have to go on the balcony if we were lazy! Close to the lobby we were not, but it wasn't bad.

Though not 100 percent sure, I highly doubt you will see Epcot's fireworks from a garden view room. We had a waterview room facing towards Epcot last time and could see them a bit. Take the time to just walk to Crescent Lake and view them there. :thumbsup2

We could see the fireworks from our GV room at the BC. We were on the end that faces towards the IG. But that was BC.

Looks like our paths will cross!! We are going to be at YC from 8/24-8/31. We have never stayed at the YC before, but have gone this time of year for the past few years and love it!!! It is really hot, but because our kids arent back at school until Labor Day, it is a nice gap because some other parts of the country are back in school, so it seems a little less crowded. Its a nice way to start the school year off too :thumbsup2

We will be there the same exact dates! August can't get here soon enough for me!:goodvibes

If you could that would be great  - the most important information really would be the opening times to get a package as we are arriving on a Saturday but will not get to the resort until 5.30 at the earliest due to flight times.

OK, so I called and spoke to someone in Disney's "Package Center". According to the guy I talked to, the Yacht Club package center is open from 7 am to 7 pm, 7 days per week and that the charge to receive the package is based on the weight of the package.

Now, it sounds like if you arrive around 5:30-6 PM you should be ok getting the stroller that night or first thing the next morning, BUT I will add the disclaimer that I am somewhat skeptical of information that comes from CMs over the phone (in fact the first woman I spoke to said there wouldn't be a charge for guests staying at the resort).

So if anyone in the next month or so happens to be using the package delivery at the YC Convention Center, can you report back to us any information about the hours of operation?

Thanks!

We leave for the Mayo on Monday morning and I have pre-op testing all afternoon. Then Tuesday AM is the surgery and back home Wednesday morning.

For Teena and Bob :flower3:. Will be praying for you.

Got a surgery in our family. Sister that was with us at BCV in Jan (snowbound from Greenville SC) She is having a heart valve replaced in April so she can get back to her marathoning! She is going through the whole pre-surgery anxiety right now so we will just have to be there for her.

Please give her my best and I hope to see her soon in one of the Disney marathons!!

How long is the walk from the BCV to the monorail near Epcot? Would really like to avoid taking the bus to MK

The answer to your question is probably a 5 minute walk from BCV to IG, then a 30-ish minute walk to the monorail at the front of the park. The monorail will then be another 20 minutes to MK once the monorail arrives. I think you need to change over at the TTA.

The bus from BC to MK is a 15 minute ride, plus any wait for the bus to arrive.

We almost always take the bus TO MK, the come back to the BC via the monorail and walk through EPCOT, enjoying an attraction or two along the way.

You'd have to go through Epcot, which means you'd need park-hoppers. That said, it's probably a 15-20 minute walk.

Hope all goes well with your sister!

Can someone explain to me how the busses work for this resort exactly? I know at times the epcot resorts can share a bus, but we have always stayed at the dolphin around the 4th of July and always had our own bus (never shared with the other 2 epcot hotels). Now we are going Aug 22-29 and I'd like to have a clue as to how this is all going to go down. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the response.

And how about taking the boat? How is that ride and how often does it come?

Hello, everyone!

I had always been a "Poly" girl for all of our previous trips - but this past November, I took a solo trip and the Poly was booked. I ended up booking a stay at the Yacht Club - and OMG! I fell in love with it! I LOVED the convenience to my favorite park, Epcot!

So - I've booked a Mother/Daughter Trip for this August, and I decided to check out the Beach Club - even CLOSER to Epcot! Woot!

I'm so looking forward to staying at this resort - if it's half as wonderful as the YC, then I know we'll love it!

My DD(11) and I will be there August 6 - 13th this summer...and then, I have another solo trip planned (for the F&W Festival) from Nov. 9 - 13th. Both of these stays will be at the Beach Club...the August trip will have us on the Club Level - exciting!

I've been a long-time lurker of this thread; just never posted on it before!

The boat only goes to Hollywood Studios, Epcot, the Boardwalk, and the Swan and Dolphin. It comes approx. every 15 minutes. :)
