WOW!!! My computer crashed for a few days and I cannot believe how busy this thread has been.

Robyn, glad to hear your mom is improving.

Teena, good luck next week with your surgery.

I hope everyone else is healthy and doing well...saw some folks had the flu and leaving this weekend...Yikes!

For those of you who will be there soon, please have a Grey Goose slushie for me. They are soooo yummy.

OK, when I saw in your live report that your 9 year old LOVES LOVES LOVES Legos (mine does too), and that you also have a wee bit of a Ziploc bag obsession, I wanted to pass along this tip.

Practically all of our souvenir dollars are spent at the Lego Store at DTD. But getting the large packages home in our luggage is a problem. So we open the boxes, and place the smaller bags full of Legos for each set into a gallon-sized Ziploc, along with the instructions. Much less packing space. But the boy still wants the boxes, so we break them down flat and put them on the bottom of the suitcases.

You can of course also ship them home, but Ben doesn't want them out of his possession.

Seriously, I DON'T have investments in Ziploc . I swear!

That's a very good tip!!!! It would be a miracle if we could convince him to throw out the box. Lol :rotfl:

Hi all,
Marlton Mom has been doing too much thinking again and now she has a question. I was wondering if it wouldn't be easier when trying to get to DHS before rope drop if us Beach Club people went to the boat dock by the EPCOT gate instead the one for BC/YC.

Does the friendship boat pickup from the EPCOT gate say at around 8:15 am? I have read that the boats will leave room and not pick up 100% of the people at any one stop to save room in the boat for people from other docks. I figure the first pick up dock will have the most room, especially if people haven't figured out that you can catch the boat to DHS from the EPCOT dock.

As for the walking to DHS thing, Marlton Mom is hot enough in January let alone June so she will either be in that boat or water skiing behind it. I like to tell people that my horoscope sign is keep refrigerated!

And finally,is there any word on the air conditioning in the boats coming back from the dead? If the boats are still set to broil Marlton Mom is willing to launch an "Awareness" campaign with Disney Management!

Thanks....
Marlton Mom

Normally, I am all about the speed in getting places (go figure ;)) so I can't imagine walking to EPCOT first. It would add about 20 minutes to your trip time since the boat will go to BWI after EPCOT before going to YC/BC.

I REALLY hope they get that A/C up and running again. :wizard:

Here is another great tip compliments of the All Ears Newsletter. Take a power strip with you to make recharging all those cell phones, I pods, game systems, lap tops and camera batteries that much more easier. If your family is anything like ours having a 6 outlet power strip takes the aggrevation out of inconviently placed or too few plugs. Having everything in the same spot makes keeping track of everything easier as well.

Verizon has decided that since today is my birthday it would be the perfect day to knock my Internet out. :headache: ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy Birthday!!!! :banana::banana::banana::banana:

Since from the BC there would be no reason IMO to take the boat to Epcot (5 minutes versus a possible 30 minutes.
Agreed! Even from the YC, I believe walking is faster. And if you plan on walking all day at Epcot anyway, what's a few more steps. Really, you even have to walk out on that LONG dock to catch the ferry. Suck it up and walk! Plus, I always enjoyed the walk each and every day we were there last time! :cloud9:

This was one of the BEST tips I ever got from a Disney website. We do this all the time :thumbsup2

Wow this is a great tip, wonder why I never thought of it before, I have traveled quite a few times with DS's and their wives and when we share a room it is nuts trying to recharge all our items.

Adding it to my packing list right now so I don't forget it :thumbsup2

I say walk too. But it is quite the walk. It takes DH and I about 15-20 minutes to get over to DHS. But we usually beat the boats there.

I know you will all be shocked, but my advice is the same - walk!!! Although when we're getting ready for the TSM rush, everyone tends to kind of run/speed walk from BC to DHS. :) So fun! In the morning, it's easily a 15 minute walk.

Thanks everyone for their 2 cents! :goodvibes

I think walking is probably the plan (and the taxi will be the backup plan in the event of rain).

This is the best tip ever. It's the one tip I give everyone who asks me. With charging phones, the laptop, and the camera batteries, the power strip comes in real handy! :thumbsup2

This was the response I got on the transportation board about where cabs drop off at DHS

The official cab stand is in the first row of the guest parking lot, which is just a couple minute's walk beyond the farthest bus load zone.

I am guessing it would be about a $10-12 fare from BC to DHS so I will definitely use it as a back up if its raining and/or 100 degrees at 8am

So...IPO did email me back earlier today, after I ranted on here that they weren't responding to my emails. All is right with the world!

I am right there with you. In the early morning we actually prefer the walk!

Now after a day at the parks only DH (a marathon runner) is walking - the rest of us wait for the water taxi.

I shared this tip about packing Legos on my trip report and another mother of Lego-loving-sons promised me bodily harm if her kids got wind of this tip. They were using the same excuse about not being able to pack the big sets.

I used the same excuse for years! But our boys know about my stash of ziplock bags and a couple years ago at Legoland in California, they figured this out! And so we brought the lego Indiana Jones temple home with us.

Someone answered 10-10. Do the posted hours change based on time of year or weather conditions?

For SAB, it seems like the hours vary. I'm not sure if there is a set pattern, but I can share our most recent experience (can't remember from previous stays, but that info is probably outdated anyway!)

Last March, it was open until 10pm every night of our trip. That was surprising because the front desk told us SAB closed at 9pm each night when we checked in. When we returned from Epcot on our first night, we saw lifeguards at SAB - they said it was 10pm and that it's always good to double check with the lifeguards for hours. (The boys RAN to our room to change and get in some pool time!)

In July, it was at least 10pm and I think even as late as 11pm - does anyone else remember that? I recall swimming very late in the evening.

In early February this year, SAB closed much earlier - I think it was 8pm. It was pretty cold (and sometimes rainy) for our trip, so I wonder if the weather had an impact.

Seems like it took forever to get that walkway built and open, I remember climbing through a hole in the chain-link fence to get through. We're thankful they built the path and use it all the time. Not too far to walk from BC, and we always beat the boats.

Have fun! :goodvibes
