2011 Beach & Yacht Club FAQ

Just a reminder. An excellent way to be heard (about the reservations department giving you bad information or anything else) is those exit surveys. Those things are gone over at the actual resort as well as WDW with a fine tooth comb!!! It's the perfect way to get your comments (good or bad) about the resort and/or cast members and/or experiences heard. These surveys can only be done on the day you check-out. They start at 7 AM and are done right in the lobby ... the survey cast members usually hang out with their laptops across from the concierge desk or outside near the airport check-in. They have to get a certain amount of surveys done every day and once those are completed they leave. Sometimes they are gone by 8 AM. So if you want to do one, be downstairs before 8 AM.

Will I have to wait until March 1 to see March movie schedule on the beach? We are only there 2 nights so want to figure out if we should schedule it in (if it's a good movie).

Excellent question!!! There is a marina at the Yacht Club too, so they should have adult life vests there , not sure if they would let you use them at Stormalong Bay. I specifically asked a lifeguard in July 2010 if you could use your own floats from home- the answer was:
Yes on pool noodles
No on floats from home for adults
Yes, for children if the float fit around them and an adult was at arms reach.

Perhaps the answer is different for a life vest for an adult.

I am going to post this over on the Yacht & Beach Club board. See my signature for the link. We have a member of the forum going to the BC this week, so I will ask her to see what she can find out at the pool if she gets a chance.

Got it! It's on the list! :wizard:

Great FAQ again, natebenma! Thanks.

I'm sure there that grandmother can borrow a life jacket from the marina. Our DD borrowed one when she was in HS.

Lots of snow here this week too. Early dismissal for the older children on Tuesday and then an unheard of two snow days in a row for our local district. One suburban HS took only its 5th day off due to weather since sometime in the 1800s.:scared1: and it's snowing again. The big storm brought 20 inches to Chicago. Huge storm across the country. Happy WDW dreams everyone.:wizard:

Hi mtmbyck!

Many of us use buildabettermousetrip.com for our movie schedules and I have not seen them post the schedule before the first of each month (and sometimes a little later than that.) Anyone else have another source?

Yes, I think you will have to wait. I use the build a better mouse trip site and as pixarmom said, they never post it earlier than the first of the month and often are later than that.

Thanks! Hope your family doesn't get annoyed with you (or us) as you are going through the resort snapping pictures, talking to CMs and putting away Sunken Treasures while declaring "Top Secret Assignment for the Y&B Board"

I appreciate the kind words!

Yeah, you guys are getting nailed!

So, I finally had a revelation on Friday, and I took down all of my "Let it Snow" decorations. We haven't had any snow since, including missing a forecasted snow storm yesterday. Unfortunately, instead of snow we got rain and the basement took in water. I was wet/dry vac-ing it until about 12:30 this morning, today my DH is out shoveling about 4 feet of snow away from the bulkhead. It has stopped for the moment. OY!

We still haven't heard if there will be school tomorrow- the city needs to clear 40 acres of school rooftops before they will let the kids back.

Two weeks from tomorrow I will be in Mexico, so that is getting me through! Practicing my Spanish today "Uno mas mojito, por favor!"

Here is a pictures taken from another thread "Alcohol Drinks" of the Sunken Treasure @ Yachstman & 'Ohana's

Thank you so much for the pictures- I'll have to remember this when we go in Nov.
These pictures and the ingedients should be put at the front of this thread near SAB. So people like me who have short memories (LOL) can go back and find what a sunken treasure is. At first I thought it was a game for kids!!!!

Keep the pin requests coming to TeenaS. Even if you are on a Guest List, you still need to let Teena know the exact date you are checking in and the name on your reservation. Teena keeps track of the requests, so even if you are not staying until the end of the year, you can still place your request now.

*********************************************

Thanks to everyone who has volunteered to keep the Guest Lists up-to-date. When a new list is posted, I copy it to the front page so you can find the latest info there.

I think we still need some people for the April, October, November and December Guest Lists.

It shouldn't be too difficult. Once or twice a week, post the list you have and ask if anyone else is staying during that time. Track any responses that come in during the week.

You can look at the format/requests by MickeyT or Pixarmom for a sample.

The only request I have is to please put it in chronological order by check-in date.

This will considerably reduce twitching on my part. I am AOC- Anal Obsessive Compulsive. OK, here's a fun fact about me:

When I go to other people's yard sales, I have to reorganize their stuff- all of the videos must be together, the clothes must be in one place and the toys must be in age-appropriate groupings.

When Pixarmom comes back, if she is able to get a photo I will place the picture and recipe on the Community Page. I try very hard not to post content in the official FAQ pages from people unless I have their permission.

You are so funny .... I am just an old woman working at the BC twice a week. I only want everybody to have a wonderful vacation and that's why I try to "tell it like it is" so there is no unexpected surprises. That's alot of money and chances are you aren't going to get a view with fireworks either at the BC ... there are more of them at the YC. Honestly, if you really want the BC, then stay at the BC and do what I told you. Worse case scenario is that you will have a standing balcony for part of your vacation. If we can't get you a full one immediately, I'd be really surprised we wouldn't be able to get you a room change later.

Hardly old and you don't give yourself enough credit! You have definitely helped many of us have better vacations with all the fantastic information and advice you share here!!!

Amanda

Wow! No one for the April list yet! I guess we will be the first. We are staying at the BC April 5-10 for our daughter's 5th birthday!
We stayed at the BC last year for thr first time and just fell in love with the resort, we can't wait!

Well Hello !!

I don't know how I missed this thread but wow lots of good info. here and i've only read the first page ! :rotfl:

Now to continue reading !

Oh and I totally want to do the campfire sing along and roast marshmallows !! wait, will it look funny if we don't have kids with us ? :rotfl:

Such a nice group over here !! I can't wait to stay at the BC/YC !! nope still haven't decided :rotfl: but we will be here from May 13-16, doing a split stay and staying at ASSP on the 10th-13th, our plan is to do MK, AK & HS while we are at Sports and then the last 3 nights is to enjoy the resort and Epcot !.. well maybe a nice walk over to HS for RNR & TOT again ! We stayed at BC when our kids were little, must have been about 10-12 years ago, but we absolutely LOVED our stay !! I am really excited to stay here again ! :goodvibes

From another thread:

slide opened yesterday, Feb 5 (just in time for DD's to use it before leaving!). I didn't notice any height requirements....there were some pretty young kids going down it. As you walk to the ladder up to the big slide, there is a smaller kid pool and slide there.

Teena should be able to confirm this when she returns home from work today.

Wow you said that just right! I'm new but am very thankful for this informative thread and all the information posted!

...... and this is one of the many reasons I think you are AWESOME!! :thumbsup2.... um, not the "old" part but the telling it like it is part.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, you are worth your weight in Tastykakes for helping guests get the information that they need to keep their expectations in line with the best that Disney can do for them.

This forum is filled with readers who are the type of guests that Need to Know about certain aspects of their hotel reservations and Teena you are providing crucial information that is just not readily available, or from an accurate source via the standard Disney system. I cannot tell you how much aggravation you have helped eliminate and how many minds that you have put at ease with all your kind responses to our inquiries.

It can't be fun answering the same types of questions over and over again so we really are thankful for your patience.

We are also thankful for people like Dee (Natebenma) and others who have gone before her who have taken the time to gather and organize important information that also assists us in planning and organizing our stays!

One of the things that I absolutely love about this Beach Club/ Yacht Club thread is the way that we all sort of pitch in and help each other if we are able. Using this thread we are able to share so may wonderful things with each other. Most of us are only at the resort for a short period of time, but this thread provides an opportunity for us to keep on sharing and to keep the magic going.

So, as many others have stated, and most have realized, thanks to Teena and Dee for all the care and concern that you show to us, and all the efforts you put into keeping us informed. We'd be lost with out you!

fterie4u April 5-April 10 BC (Daughter's 5th birthday!)

Ok April Y&B Club people.....Let's hear it for 'The April (We Don't Mind the Showers) List'

First of all--add my family to the vacation list. We just booked a room at Beach Club for June 5-14. I left the requests alone, thinking that whatever I have, it's gonna be a great deal nicer than POR, where we were originally booked, and I'm not opening myself up for disappointment!

Now my question: the footpath is from Beach Club to Epcot's World Showcase. How does that work for ropedrop? Are guests moved to Future World or do they wait until the ropedrop ceremonies are over? Basically, what I want to know is how rope drop operates if I walk to Epcot in the morning.

i've never taken care of a list before, but I think it's something I can handle Dee! So I'll start it off like this...

:cheer2:NOVEMBER Y/B CLUB LIST:cheer2:

Nannette: 17-27 YC

Anyone else let me know!
