Thanks for making me laugh. Needed that tonight after the day I've had.

Dee: MM: I'm a big fan of Key Lime, but never made it myself. Would love that recipe if you're in the sharing mood.

I'm sorry but it's an ancient family recipe dating from the times of dinosaurs and it lives next to the Coca Cola recipe in Col. Sanders vault.

Oops, somebody left a copy on the Xerox machine... here goes.

You get yourself one of those bottles of "Nellie and Joe's Famous Key West, Key Lime juice". You have to use key lime juice and not regular lime juice because, because, well because you are making KEY LIME pie!! Lime juice and Key lime juice are different.... trust me.

next get together:
9" graham cracker pie crust (I use an OREO chocolate cookie crust, which is also available in stores pre-made. If you are sitting there licking the cream filling out of oreo cookies and trying to do it that way you are doing it wrong.)
14 oz. can of sweetened condensed milk
3 egg yolks (whites not used)
½ cup Nellie & Joe's Key West Lime Juice

Combine milk, egg yolks and lime juice. Blend until smooth. Pour filling into pie crust and bake at 350º for 15 minutes. Allow to stand 10 minutes before refrigerating. Just before serving, top with freshly whipped cream, or meringue, and garnish with lime slices.

If you Google "Nellie and Joe's" their web site comes up with even more recipes for this stuff, like alcoholic beverages!! (which are not beverages with a drinking problem, but more like beverages with alcohol in them.)

This recipe is also on the label so don't bother writing it down. The important thing is to use this juice and you've got the real deal. This pie is so easy to make Martha Dean Emeril can make it. People will scream and faint when you bring it out and call you names like "Julia Child" or "Betty Crocker". Sometimes they get so overwhelmed they call you "Ansel Adams"!

Kel, I like in your signature where it says you were "Kicked off the school bus".

I'm sure it will come as no surprise to all here, but when she was a little girl, Marlton Mom's Girl Scout Troop was DISBANDED because of "bad behavior".

... and we were like brownies for God's sake!

Actually, the real reason it was disbanded was because the troop leader was this neurotic woman who couldn't handle a bunch of giggling 5th graders.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Have a better day tomorrow!!

I thought I had a picture of the fridge with a half-gallon of juice/milk in it, but I couldn't find it. This is what I have:

QUOTE]

Is this fridge in the a normal room at the BC or at the BCV?

This is the one in the normal room. I don't know about the Villas and their fridges. maybe a Beach Club "Villian" can chime in and give us the fridge scoop.

Wow, thanks!!:goodvibes This is perfect! I needed to know if I could put a couple of small things inside (both myself and my DD have food allergies). This is so very helpful.:thumbsup2

Thank goodness I'm not alone with the Girl Scout drama! Well, except I was kicked out individually, not the whole troop....whoops.:rotfl:

I didn't mention this before, but I will before I forget again, have a FAB time on your trip:woohoo:... and as for the weather, just pack for both. We had both 80s and 20s on our trip two weekends ago.... and were only there for 3 nights!

Ok, I'm going back to figuring if my fridge at home is large enough to fit a body in it.... does anyone HAVE a fridge that large? Wait, don't answer that people, I'll feel inadequate. :goodvibes

/
The fridge is not big enough to hold a body or anything

Ok - so with your comment, I have to post this story. We keep a similar sized minifridge at home in the bedroom (for when the 2yo was an infant and we kept milk upstairs). I was watching the 2yo play and saw him go to the fridge. When he opens it, sitting in it is Boba Fett's head to my horror. The 2yo is completely unfazed, apparently, he had put it there for safe keeping. (and it was just the mask -- but it was sitting there like a head...)

So I agree, not big enough for a body, but it can hold a head.

THAT is good to know!! One never knows when one will need more storage, especially for heads.

Thanks for the heads up on head storage. :lmao:

 Trip before surgery...most definitely!!! Good luck at your next visit. Thanks for the update, you were doing so well resting it last we chatted, sorry it is still broken :flower3:

Thank you!

Right there with both of you!! Kicked right out!!!

By the way I love this thread.... Just thought I'd throw that out there.... it's keeping me sane... DD is 6 days away from the Texas State Bar Exam and she has her wedding on her mind and between those 2 things has her mother CrAzY!! I come here to relax!! YC/BC talk is very relaxing!

Thanks

Does this thread keep you sane, or just make you appear saner in comparison?

Food for thought.

Have a good night all- see you tomorrow!

I had a question about the refrigerator. How big is it? We're planning to store a couple of things and want to be sure it'll hold it.

The fridge is not big enough to hold a body or anything

I love how an innocent question about the room refrigerator leads to this!!!

polynor, this story cracked me up!!!

Warning...I'm going off topic (shocking, I know)

MM: So the "kicked off the bus story": It was actually my older sister and I. On the last day of school at the end of my sophomore year (my sister was a junior), the bus left the school before everyone had gotten out of the school and on the bus, so o bunch of ys had to walk home. We were almost to our house and the bus drove by us. The driver waved and we flipped her off.

The following school year starts, and we get called down to the vice principal's office. The poor man had no idea who I was and he only knew my sister because her best friend babysat for his kids. He got to tell us that we were kicked off the bus for swearing at the bus driver on the last day of school the previous year, the bus that we weren't even riding because they'd decided our house was too close and that we could walk. We did point out that we weren't even on the bus the last day of school because she had left before we got out of school that day and that we couldn't ride anymore anyway. He thought that was kinda funny.

My mother said that when he called her, he told her he had to look through the school records to find out who I was because he had never heard of me. I was NEVER in any trouble. In fact, my high school friends would probably tell you that I was a "goodie two shoes".

Booked our flight to Orlando. We should be at YC by about 11am on arrival day. Looks like we'll be checking in, dropping our bags and heading off to a park until the room is ready.

Nannette -- Good Luck to your dd! Is it any easier when you've already passed another state's? I know your dd passed the bar before and I'm sure she'll do great in Texas!

Ds took the NJ bar when we were in Disney last summer. I think I was as nervous as he was (almost!). It really makes them nuts!!!! Luckily he passed on the first attempt - got a job (Thank God - it's not a good time for newly out of law school attorneys in the job market).

Pixarmom - I think you were looking for the key lime pie for me last year.
Is anyone thinking I'm a little too obsessed with the Captain's Grille key lime pie (but it is soooooo good).

Marlton Mom - have a fantastic time. NO FOOD PORN?????? Now that's just nuts!

Awesome story! :lmao: I feel sorry for the driver, if her world was so miserable she held onto a grudge from the summer before. :( I like that your VP found the humor in it, though. I hope they let you back on! (or someone got a car...):goodvibes

(RANT TO FOLLOW)
Though I think that bus driver retired and is now working for Disney... when we were down there, we had one lady who was the epitome of 'mean' on our bus to AK. Seriously, I was looking for the hidden candid cameras...

She opened only the front door for all passengers to get on/off at each stop. (this is probably policy). CR was the first loading stop (our stop).

As we loaded the bus (mind you, this is when we are LOADING) she screamed (yes. screamed.) "Do not stand in the door area! It's against regulation to stand beyond the yellow line." This was when people were walking to the rear of the bus to get seats. It was as if each time someone walked over the line, she triggered and yelled.

Then, once we finally had everyone and their strollers cleared of the yellow line (took a good 5 minutes before she was satisfied), she drove to Poly. At around 10 miles and hour.

Did I mention the bus was full and standing room only?

So, then we stop at poly and try to squeeze a few more people on. The bus was full. As in "don't you wish everyone did" full. (Bonus points for who gets the reference!:thumbsup2) But we needed more people. Know what that meant?

The only way to get more people on the bus was to step over the yellow line!

Which meant she screamed. Again. Problem was this little thing called physics, it doesn't allow two bodies of mass to occupy the same space. It took another 5 minutes (and some very frustrated guests saying "forget this" and getting OFF the bus....) then she closed the door and drove on....to the GF.

Full bus. To Animal Kingdom. Stopped at GF.

Then, we had a few poor souls try to cram on the bus from there. This is the REALLY funny part. The same bus driver who pulled up to the stop told them all there was no room for them to get on. She literally held her arm out blocking them as she left the door open.

But she still waited 10 minutes. People on the bus were beginning to loudly express their opinions. We were stuck in the back of the bus so had no chance to escape. We did consider the escape hatches on the top, though.

In the end, we got to AK about an hour and 15 minutes from when we started. And, of course, yelled at us about crossing the yellow line the whole way there. My DH mentioned she was driving so slow because the majority of the time she was watching everyone from her rear view mirror.

I think we probably witnessed a serious mental breakdown that morning, to be honest. It was also the worst (and thereby funniest) Disney bus ride ever.

THIS is good to know!

I will bring my shrimp fork and my back up shrimp fork (Thanks Dee!!! :thumbsup2 ) when I ride the buses.

MM--enjoy your solo trip!! Tell your mystery dinner guest that Cindy, Rick, Samantha and Hunter say Hi! :)

I think you will really enjoy Captain's Grille. I ate there with friends on my December "leave the family at home trip" and it was excellent....I can definitely recommend the crab cakes and the crab legs. For something different, I can also recommend the Pineapple upside down martini---it's a big strong, so I recommend small sips! I think I'm going to make an ADR there for dinner for our Sept. family trip......and gosh, by golly, I'm getting the Lobster sliders for lunch this year....I've been trying for 3 trips to make it there for lunch to get them....and this is going to be my year! I think I'll tell DH that I'm going to head over to the quiet pool area to do a couple of loads of laundry, but instead I'll sneak over to Captain's Grille! ;)

I have about a month before I'm at the 180 day mark for ADRs, and I'm looking to try some new restaurants. Does anyone have any thoughts (good or bad) about Tutto Italia, Coral Reef, Teppan Edo, or Whispering Canyon? (I have DD8 and DS4, so they'll have to be happy too!)

Cindy
