The mushroom filet & risotto was fantastic! I also enjoyed the cheese soup! My friend had the filet also and the scallop appetizer, which she really enjoyed. I had always taken the "hype" with a grain of salt....but I was converted to a Le Cellier lover pretty quickly! I hope your dinner is wonderful!!

I went into Le Cellier expecting to hate it...that's what I do when there is alot of hype involved (thus I have convinced myself I will hate the Poly...:rotfl2: ) BUT, I loved Le Cellier!! Loved the Cheese Soup, and dipping the pretzel bread into the soup...is it dinner time yet???

Hi everyone! My husband and I will be spending our 13th anniversary at the concierge level of the Yacht Club in May. I just found out that the refurbishing of the exterior (currently happening) will more than likely be continuing through our stay. Do you think we should put a request in to be away from the construction and hope things aren't bad or do you think we should switch resorts. Thanks for your input!

My friend and I both agreed that if we could have licked our plates clean we would have!! Of course, after another beer for me (La Fin Du Monde) and another glass of wine for her (Wash. Hills Late Harvest Riesling)--both were great---we might have just done that! :rotfl: Luckily her husband kept us in line! We were there around our birthdays and she had noted that on the reservation. Our server, Lauren, wanted to bring us complementary dessert to celebrate, but we turned her down because we were stuffed. Instead she brought us each a glass of champagne with a strawberry on the rim. It was a perfect finish!

I could go for a bowl of the cheese soup and some pretzel bread right now!! Yum!! :)

Personally I would just request to be away from it, and mention you are going away for a romantic weekend. It seems from last September and again this Feb, they are working sections at a time. The scaffolding was about 4 rooms down from us in September, and we didn't hear a thing.

It looked to me that they were working on the lagoon facing rooms only though, does anyone know differently? :confused3

I want to ask those who've just been there, what kind of refurb is going on? Where can I find more information? Is it just YC or also BC. Finally, is SAB being refurbished now? We were thinking of going next week.

Thanks for your replies.

Are you at interested in staying at The Beach Club? If so, and it is available, I would suggest switching. It is possible the construction won't bother you, but if it is something to cause you worry before then, or if it would put a damper on your trip if it wasn't "perfect" (and for celebrating 13 years who wouldn't want that) ... then it would make sense to go with BC and KNOW you won't have an obstructed or have a noise issue (at least from the rehab).

Or, since you are staying CL, I would contact them and explain your concerns and to please note on your reservation where you would like to request a room -- they will know the completed sections. Go with somewhere that is done.

We stayed at BCV 2 years ago when they were being rehabbed and we did have an obstructed view that we were told would be gone within a few days. Unfortunately, the workers schedule and what we were told were not in sync. All was made right but I wouldn't call an oversized cherry-picker outside our patio "romantic."

I have not seen anything listed as an official rehab at SAB as I have in the past. Which makes me wonder if this was an unplanned event. I do know over Christmas/New Year's there was an issue with the kiddie/sand area that kept some barriers up for a few days. Not sure that would be connected to what is happening now, but it could be.

The rehab that has been going on at the entire resort, but is now down to the YC, is updating/painting the exterior of the resort. Scaffolding around the outside, workers during the day, some walkways may be blocked, potential noise from equipment.

I agree with Mickey & Minnie Mom. Be sure that you put on reservation that it is an anniversary getaway. Do not do online check in and ask again when you check in if the room is near the construction. Since you are doing CL check in it will be a lot more relaxing sitting there one on one with your check in CM. Then go look at the room. If it does not suit your need (and before you use anything in the room) just go back down to the CL desk and explain. Trust me. The CL CM's will do everything in their power to make your stay magical.

We have been down three times while the construction was at BC and were never near it. Luck of the draw.

The way they do the construction/maintenance in the winter is they close off one section while the other sections are open. This an annual occurence as maintenance is necassary with such a large pool. When we were there in January they were working on the section around the windmill toward Beaches and Creme. You had to use the entrances near the slide and Yacht Club.

Mmmm...I could go for some cheese soup right about now!!

And don't go in hating the Poly!! It's wonderful!! It's just a smidge above the BC for us (mostly it's the view/location that make it our #1).

MM--enjoy your solo trip!! Tell your mystery dinner guest that Cindy, Rick, Samantha and Hunter say Hi! :)

I think you will really enjoy Captain's Grille. I ate there with friends on my December "leave the family at home trip" and it was excellent....I can definitely recommend the crab cakes and the crab legs. For something different, I can also recommend the Pineapple upside down martini---it's a big strong, so I recommend small sips! I think I'm going to make an ADR there for dinner for our Sept. family trip......and gosh, by golly, I'm getting the Lobster sliders for lunch this year....I've been trying for 3 trips to make it there for lunch to get them....and this is going to be my year! I think I'll tell DH that I'm going to head over to the quiet pool area to do a couple of loads of laundry, but instead I'll sneak over to Captain's Grille! ;)

I have about a month before I'm at the 180 day mark for ADRs, and I'm looking to try some new restaurants. Does anyone have any thoughts (good or bad) about Tutto Italia, Coral Reef, Teppan Edo, or Whispering Canyon? (I have DD8 and DS4, so they'll have to be happy too!)

Cindy

We loved the Crab Cakes at CG too :thumbsup2

Been to Tutto Coral Reef, Teppan Edo and WCC. All good meals. Tutto I only go to on DDP cause I think they're over priced, esp for pasta dishes? But good. I'll be interested to see it after the renos. Wonder if they are having a new menu too?
Teppan Edo & WCC are esp fun for the kids, but the food is good, and we enjoyed it too.
At Coral Reef we asked for a table by the aquarium and had a great table right up close. It was also the spot that the Turtle liked to hang out. They told us his name, but I forgot. The only bad part was that there were people walking up to by your table constantly taking pics, and some parents tended to let their kids run around unattended, and a group of children kept running up to the aquarium glass & jumping up & down next to our table while we were trying to have dinner.

Kel, I like in your signature where it says you were "Kicked off the school bus".

I'm sure it will come as no surprise to all here, but when she was a little girl, Marlton Mom's Girl Scout Troop was DISBANDED because of "bad behavior".

... and we were like brownies for God's sake!

Actually, the real reason it was disbanded was because the troop leader was this neurotic woman who couldn't handle a bunch of giggling 5th graders.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Have a better day tomorrow!!

~MM

:rotfl2::rotfl2: I'm sure you were the ring leader too!

I think the reason for this is because of all of the other things (past trips) you have listed in your signature. You only get a certain amount of space for signature stuff. My ticker cut off too when I first made it, so I had to make the links to my trip report smaller. If you put some of the past trips on the same line, you should be good.

Thanks, I'll try that :thumbsup2 I have my past trips up more for me, I forget when I've been where lol!

BC merchandise has arrived! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

I'm drinking tea from a BC mug. I saw a jacket, Tshirt, polo and some other small things...magnet maybe and something besides the mug (although I bought the last one on the shelf last night).

We're in a 2 br on the Epcot side which is my favorite. Can I check on anything while we're here?

Teena
, hope to see you this weekend.

Hope you are having a magical trip!!!!

I'm on the lookout to see if the Captain's Grille has gone back to serving key lime pie for dessert.

Other than that I only wish you great weather and a great time.
Oh and say hi to Teena for me!

Thank goodness I'm not alone with the Girl Scout drama! Well, except I was kicked out individually, not the whole troop....whoops.:rotfl:

I didn't get kicked out, but back in the olden days when I was a Brownie, if you got lots of badges and were a good little homemaker (most of the badges were for things like cooking, cleaning and sewing, all of which I continue to suck at) you got to FLY up to Guides. Otherwise, you had to walk up. You can imagine what camp I fell into. If you flew up, in the ceremony you got to flap your arms like a fairy and skitter up to the sounds of applause. If you walked up, they put you in an actual pair of wooden shoes and you clumped up without further fanfare. After that humiliation, my scouting days were done! Can you imagine doing that today????

And to keep the discussion on point, take a look at my TOTALLY SUBSUMED Mickey pushpin, enveloped in the warm center of Spaceship Earth. I cannot BELIEVE how quickly (and yet how slowly) this vacation is coming!! BC here we come!

Woo-hoo!!! Thanks for sharing the good news!

Marlton Mom- your mission has changed!!! Your previous assignment of interrogating and torturing the BC Marketplace CMs has been declassified. Instead, please photograph the elusive subjects and report back!

Will do madame! I plan to get there earlier than my dinner meeting to make this happen.

Did anyone happen to see a Beach Club Shrimp Fork in the resort merchandise section??

..... just wondering.... :rolleyes1

~Marlton Mom

Thanks for the merchandise update, BCV23!:thumbsup2

One of my favorite towels, and it's still in use, is from the BC!
Dh will love to get some BC stuff as well as mosey over to the YC for some stuff, too! ;)

MM.....I had to clean my monitor with all that shrimp fork stuff! :lmao:
You are hilarious!

Question re: Bounceback Offers

Does the bounceback offer require a minimum stay? Can it be part of a land & sea package?

We've started thinking about what we might want to do for our 10th anniversary, which is still 2+ years away, but I'm a planner. And if we do it up big, we need to save up for it, so I'm tossing around ideas. One idea is the Disney Mediteranean Cruise, but we've never been on a cruise, so I thought maybe next year we do a Land & Sea package so we can still enjoy WDW and try out a cruise.
