Does anyone have the movie schedule times for May? I thought it might be a fun thing to do for our first night there, but I want to time it out with dinner too. Thanks!!

Guess #3: All Star Music

Nope but you are getting super close. My scheme is to "not pay" for one of those preferred rooms but get a building that is actually closer to a food court /buses than any preferred room.

I rarely even get to go to the bathroom alone so I wanna know how MM got the fam to agree to this???? I want in on it!

Well it all started one dark day when I tripped over a dog toy that I had to walk near when I was avoiding all the chairs that were left out, pushed away from the kitchen table. While lying on the floor I spotted all the slippers that people were supposed to be wearing in the house instead of their street shoes. (2 for my son, 2 for my "husbane" and 4 for the dog).

It was then that I decided to run away.

But seriously, I have been squirreling away money for something photography related. Either that or a giant screen TV. Anywho all those times that DH went to a Crosby Stills and Nash concert I would ask "how much did that ticket cost?" and put that money away in the "Big something delicious" slush fund. That and the birthday/Christmas money added up to $807 bucks. Then I have about 280 disney dollars accrued.

I have always wanted to take a solo photography trip. Usually when we go I am doing rope drop, pool in the afternoon with my son and then park closings. My family is very patient while they wait for me to get my pictures but it takes time to get the camera set up and nail the exposure and it always seems like a compromise between them waiting for me and me getting the time I need. Keeping this kind of schedule is exhausting and this old gray mare just ain't what she used to be...

This trip will be about early mornings and late nights with naps in the afternoon and no other agendas but mine. If I want to spend an hour photographing Spaceship earth at night using various techniques and framing I can do that! If I want to spend a late night in the parks I know that I can come back to the room at noon the next day and take a well deserved rest with out having to entertain DS at the pool!

When I sprung this on my husband he knew I had all the angles and financing figured out so it was useless to object. The first thing he said was "Does this mean we won't have to wait for you to take pictures on the next trip". That wasn't the smartest thing to say but it illustrates the problem between trying to do two trips in one visit.

I'm the one that's nuts about Disney. DH likes it but not like I do. I'm insane, but those of you reading this are well aware of that fact! The thing I am most proud of is my Dear son. He loves Disney too but he is totally cool about this. He is 13 and we have the kind of relationship where we would do anything for each other. I've always raised him so that he knows he will get anything he wants because he earns it by working so hard to be a good student and a loving and helpful person. He understands why I'm going! He is mature enough not to be resentful or jealous. I'm going to be curious to see how DH reacts because he is more than a little jealous with me and totally monkey see, monkey do.

So my advice to you is to find a way to set some money aside to follow your dreams. So often as 'mothers' or 'fathers' or 'husbands' or 'wives' we get so caught up in that role that we lose a big part of ourselves. We feel like we have to chain ourselves to those roles and not let ourselves come out for awhile.

I thought about this and I think that the best thing ever is to show your children and spouse that you are not only the 'mother' (or 'father' or 'husband' or 'wife') but that you are an individual with hopes and dreams and goals and aspirations that have nothing to do with them. There is nothing wrong with that and BTW don't take NO for an answer if they should try and resist. Remember you are not asking, you are saying I need to do this and this is what I'm going to do. We can do "our" stuff later. This time it's my turn and I'm doing MY thing!

You'd be surprised how setting aside a little $ here and there can add up.

GO for it!

I don't have any past activities schedules from May, but according to a prior FAQ thread, the April 2011 movie time was 8:30 PM and the June 2011 activities listing has the movie time as 9 PM.

So best guess for the May time is between 8:30 and 9.

Anyone have an activities schedule from last May?

Well, Dang! There go the plans for accomodations for my 100 teenagers in June!

:lmao:

I can't believe you let the cat out of the bag! There is no way the attack Cranes can take on 100 middle schoolers. The smell alone would drop them on the spot!

MM,
Enjoy your time. Sounds like it will be a very rewarding trip!

I know you love POFQ which would fit your bus requirements but it would be more than POP.:confused3

All Star Movies is CORRECT!

Now class, the next assignment is to use Google Earth and tell me which building I am going to request (and be ignored about) on my ressie.

Keep in mind it's not a 'preferred' building...

OK, since others are going with Movies, I'm going with Sports. (And if I'm wrong, then I get the prize for most guesses!)

MM, I'm really happy for you, very impressed by your son's reaction and appreciative of the thoughts you shared. We'll all look forward to hearing about your plans and seeing those beautiful photos!

Are you talking to me? Are YOU talking to ME?!?

Ah, yes, the lethal aroma of dirty gym shoes and Axe cologne!

so I am pricing for our next F&W trip and according to Disneyworld.com there are no standard room available for 10/15-22 or 10/22-29. Can there really be that many early planners?

Thanks so much NateBenma! That's close enough :o) Appreciate your quick reply!

I think Disney opens up blocks of rooms at a particular time for a particular discount. A period of time may go by and then they open up, let's say 20 more rooms, at a resort with that discount.

At least that's what I've heard. Whether this is still done I don't know but it may give you an insight as to why "you couldn't get the room then but it's showing up now" sort of a deal..

I hope that helps and the rule of thumb is to always keep trying/calling for what you want.

I booked yesterday for Yacht Club - garden view for 10/27-11/3.

Close but no cigar. I couldn't afford the BC/YC but when I bought 3 nights I did get one night free....

Keep guessing and know that MM is on a LOW budget!!!

POFQ.... when are you going ??

Ok I read all the posts and see its Allstar Movies... Are you going alone though and when are you going??

Hi all, Can I be added to the noodle swap? I will be checking in 9/7 (page 1 says 9/8, but we added a day :thumbsup2) and checking out 9/15. Thank you!

Totally out of nowhere but I really, really want to know what certain DISers are like in person. You know - see them in the real world and see what they are like in comparison with the way they come across on screen.

Of course I'm referring to all the awesome people I've met in this very thread - it would be cool to do a meet up or a kid free mini vacay to meet you. I'm also referring to a poster or two who don't set foot in this thread. I'm dying, dying to know. Their posts are starting to make my eye twitch and burst out into random giggles.

Anyway.... back to your regularly scheduled thread.

Come on MM spill the dates.... I'm doing my first solo trip 3/15-3/19...
