Is there a cancellation penalty? If not, why not reserve your best guess now?

I have no idea, sorry .... but since there is a cancellation penalty for most restaurants now, maybe there is for that too.

Then it might be worth reserving a spot towards the end of your trip. If it's workable, great. If not, you can cancel early in your vacation without a penalty.

According to www.allears.net (though I don't know when it was last updated):
"Some deluxe resorts offer child care services on-site for Disney resort guests. In some cases these services are also available to off-site guests. (Call to determine availability.)

GENERAL CONDITIONS: The following conditions apply to most Walt Disney World resort hotels' kids' clubs, but are subject to change at any time. Call first if you have any questions or to verify specifics.

Age: Childcare is provided for children over age 3 who are potty-trained, through age 12. Resorts will not make exceptions.

Hours: 4:30 p.m. to midnight, with some exceptions.

Beepers are provided to parents so they can be contacted in case of emergency. (Parents may also call the childcare club to check on their children if desired.)

Price: $11.25 per hour. Dinner is usually included and is usually typical children's fare, such as peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers, macaroni and cheese, chicken nuggets and French fries, fruit and ice cream.

Activities offered at the clubs include board games, puzzles, arts and crafts, video games, Disney movies.

Reservations are required in most cases, although walk-ins may be available on a first-come, first-served basis. To make reservations, call 407-WDW-DINE. You may also call some of the resorts directly -- the phone numbers are listed with the resort details below.

Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance, otherwise a fee of $20 per child is assessed. Reservations are held for 30 minutes before they are released to other guests."

No one knows for sure what the special announcement is - all we know is that they are going to announce it on New Year's Eve on the Dick Clark Special.

I really HOPE it's a good discount, but who knows??? Keeping my fingers crossed.

Ah! Thank you :) I looked it up and signed up for the announcement.... no matter what it is I'm sure it will be fun!:goodvibes (though I agree, discounts are preferable!)

What do you mean ... you signed up for the announcement? How? Remember, I'm a computer dummy but I'm working Saturday, Sunday and Monday (yep, they talked me into an extra day) and I'd love to wake up Sunday morning and read about it. There is no way I can stay up to listen to it!!

I looked it up and found: http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/one-more-disney-day/

It *looks* like they will email you updates once the announcement is out! (I'm with you, I barely make it to 10!)

As for the New Years Eve special announcement (On ABC TV with Dick Clark and the New Years Eve show) I've heard it involves "Leap Day" February 29 and a park or parks is going to be open 24 hours. Keep in mind this is just wild speculation at this point. Until the announcement we can spin in circles all we want!

Hello BC/YC lovers! I hope everyone has been having a good holiday season. Unfortunately, we had a lot of sickness in our household...I spent much of christmas Day in bed, but still had enough helpers on hand to supervise Christmas dinner! Everyone is getting better now.

While I sometimes come and check out this thread, I don't think I had officially posted that...thanks to a great PIN code...I was able to change our March booking from the Swan to the Yacht Club CL! Yippee!!! We loved the Beach Club last March and were eager to try the Yacht Club this time, just for a change-up. We have 2 nights either side of a 4 night Disney Dream cruise. This is almost the same as the trip we had last year. This time we're bringing my inlaws along. they haven't been to WDW in years and years, and never with our kids, so should be fun. Also, it will be nice to have a bit of extra help - one of our sons has a physical disability.

Teena, we missed you by an hour or two on our way to the port last year, as we checked out on a Sunday. We'll be there on Fri/Sat nights, then Thurs/Fri night after the cruise - do you ever work any of those days? I'd love to pop into the BC lobby and say hello!

Need to make final payment on the cruise then finalize other plans...we're all getting excited!

So glad the discounts worked and you can move on over to the YC!!!

I normally only work Sundays and Mondays but they asked me to work this Saturday and I am. It doesn't happen often though.

Y&B and a Disney cruise ... doesn't get much better than that!

hill, thanks so much for the additional POFQ info!!

Robyn, keeping my fingers crossed for a good discount, too! We'll be in WDW at the end of easter week, and the peak season rack rates are crazy, so we're trying POFQ. We'll switch to YC if we see a good discount!

jenneth, thanks for the link!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas?? I was sick as a DOG on Xmas day. I'm finally felling so much better!! sorry for the late Good Wishes, but it's the best I can do.

Teena, Lilly looked as cute as ever in that last pic!!

Congrats to the poster above that got a PIN code. I am anxiously awaiting a PIN or a GP discount for July, like I received last year.........So ready to make our plans.

Hey there BC friends!

I haven't been around for a bit. Crazy in work and an even crazier holiday season! That being said I am happy to be back on the boards with my very favorite group of friends!!

Though I have to say that I was never that far away. I would peek on here from time to time and the best part of all was that I got a chance to hang out and chat with our resident BC Rock Star. Ms. Teena!! I was down for a work conference earlier in the month and the highlight of my trip, by far, was the hour or so I spent catching up with Teena! I know we say it all the time, but she really is the best! Before I could even go up and start talking to her I had to sit back and wait while she sweetly chatted with this couple and showed them around the chocolate carousel and the lobby. The BC is lucky to have her!!

Before we checked out at the end of our August trip we booked a Bounceback for Sunday, August 19th through Saturday, August 25th for 2012! So excited to be back again to celebrate my daughters 11th birthday and my son being only a couple of weeks away from starting high school! Where did the time go???

If anyone is adding folks on to a 2012 trip list then feel free to add me on for the above dates.

So glad to reconnect with all of you!! Now I just have to wait out the next 60+ days before I can make my ADR's!!

Jay

My DH has already informed me that if Disney does indeed open its doors quite like a 24Hour Superstore, I am under no circumstances allowed to change our dates in Feb.

The irony of this? I didn't tell him about the speculation, he found it out himself today! I've created a Disney Monster.... woohoo!:woohoo:

jenneth, thanks for the link!

Thanks ... just signed up!

Thank you for the link! I just signed up, too.
:woohoo:

My pleasure!:thumbsup2

I'm so sorry to hear everyone was sick!!! We find everyone in our family gets sick during one major holiday per year, and we've made it so far without illness..... *eyes NYE with suspicion.....*

Well wishes are always welcome, no matter when they are around the holidays!

Dee... What a wonderful new thread..although at page 54 I think I am a little late to the party ....LOL...:dance3: A wealth of info...

Didnt stay at the YC as planned last month...ended up at the GF instead ( I might need to join the resort changers thread!! LOL..) and it was lovely...but I am looking foward to planning a trip for 2012 with a stay at the the BC or maybe the YC...

Looking foward to catching up on the new thread...miss reading MM's posts...they always give me a good :rotfl: .....

Hi Twinmum! :goodvibes

Wishing you all a happy healthy 2012..

Joining the fun of this thread! What a wonderful group you have here, sounds like you all have a lot of fun together. After a terrible year health wise for our family, I am very much looking forward to a little time alone with DH Jan. 26-30th at BC. I stayed here in July with my DD's after a DCL trip to the Bahamas with them, but once checked in found my mom had a fall and was in ICU in hospital at home. I tried my best to enjoy our day for my DD's sake, but am looking forward to returning and creating some happy memories there. Hope that the weather will cooperate so that we can enjoy SAB!:yay:

Hello everyone, I've not had much time to post since returning from our trip in the beginning of Dec. Between being super busy at work (which is a GREAT thing) and my very sick sister-in-law & mother-in-law I've not had much time for post-Disney postings. I have finally uploaded all of my pictures from our trip and can finally post some here.
I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday season!!! Now that the madness of Christmas is behind me, I am finally able to breath and reflect on what an amazing time we had on our Thanksgiving trip at the Beach Club:thumbsup2

Laurie

P.S. We will be back at the Beach Club in Nov 2012, we booked the bounce back:banana::banana::banana:

Thanks for the link to sign up for the "special announcement" on New Years Eve. However, IMHO, I think the "surprise" of the parks being open round the clock - 24 hours - is pretty lame. Not even worth staying up for! Who on earth could stay up for 24 hours??? Not me. I could not even roust my bod out of bed to go to the parks at 2 am! Even as much as I love Disney, still need to catch some zzzzz's ya know? I'm hoping it's something much bigger!
