Hi, I've gone through the thread and sorry if I missed it!
We are doing a family trip in August to Beach Club! I was wondering if most rooms have the day beds or should my brother request a cot? He has 3 girls that will be 2, 5, & 7 and I think that the daybed would be good for them?
Thanks for any info!

:welcome:

If you would like to be added to the Be Our Guest list (Page 1), let us know your checkin and checkout dates.

Some of the info you are seeking is on Page 1 (FAQ, post 11)

Not all rooms have daybeds. I am not exactly sure of the percentage of rooms that do.

Parties with 5 guests (that is, 5 guests who are over age 3) have priority for the daybed rooms.

Your brother can add a request for a daybed on his reservation. He should do regular (not on-line) checkin and ask the CM at the checkin desk if his room has a daybed or if one is available.

If not, then he can request a cot, which will be provided free of charge, as long as one is available.

I'll repost the sections from the FAQ that apply in the next post.

Will my room have a daybed?

Some rooms at the Beach and Yacht Club have daybeds. You may request a room with a daybed, but it is not guaranteed. You may also request a rollaway cot to your room when you arrive. This is provided free of charge and is subject to availability.

There are two types of daybeds - one that fits a normal sized adult and the other that is best suited for a small teenager or a child. There is no way of knowing at the front desk which type of daybed is in what rooms. It's totally luck of the draw and the CM can't tell you which is in your room if you get a room with a daybed.

See Post #7 (Beach Club) or Post #8 (Yacht Club) for pictures of the two types of daybeds and various configurations of them made up in the room.

How do I make a request on my reservation? How many requests should I make? What should I request?

You should note any requests on your reservation through Disney's CRO (Central Reservation Office) or your travel agent can add it when your trip is booked, or anytime thereafter. Requests should be made no later than 2 weeks before you will arrive at the resort.

Please remember that requests are not guaranteed.

The fewer requests you have, the more likely there will be a room available that meets your most important preference(s).

Your best bet is to request what you want in words, not room numbers. The chance that a particular room will be available during your trip is not as likely as finding a room that satisfies your room preferences. If you request a specific room, and there is someone staying in the room on the day you check in, the room assigner will have to place you in a different room. If they don't know what your priorities are, they will have trouble giving you another room that has the attributes you want.

When you arrive at the resort for checkin, you can ask before you take your keys if your requests were granted, and if not, see if there is anything available that meets your needs. Please note that you should do this through REGULAR checkin.

Online checkin is designed for grabbing your keys and going, no questions asked, so if there is a possibility you will ask for a room change, you shouldn't do this.

Requests vary because what is important to one family may be different for another family. Some popular requests are full balcony at the Beach Club, a day bed, close to lobby (or elevator or Stormalong Bay), close to Concierge Lounge (if you are staying club level) or close to EPCOT.

Should I checkin online in advance or wait until I am at the resort?

As noted in the responses above, if you don't have any questions and if you are going to just grab your keys and go, then you are great candidate for the online checkin. If there is a possibility that you will ask for a room change because you are not satisfied with the one that has been assigned to you, then you should wait until you arrive at the resort to check in.

When do we need a new thread? I haven't been posting much recently and don't want to miss the switch over.

Thank you Natebenma!

I'm was just coming to say that I found it, I appreciate your quick response. We used Magical vacations so I will ask them to add it!

Our trip is August 5-10, 8 adults and 6 kids, should be fun!!

When do we need a new thread? I haven't been posting much recently and don't want to miss the switch over.

Threads can be shutdown around 250 pages. One of our threads made it well into the 300 page range, but when that got shut down, it was locked and I didn't have the ability to edit the info and I had to add back some of the links and photos individually.

I had not properly backed up the thread (silly me) so it took a bit of work to get it back where I wanted it.

Sooo... I will definitely be starting a new thread before we hit 250 pages. I also have another deadline. I am going away next week- we leave Sunday night, so I actually think I will be starting up the new thread before my trip. So probably Saturday or Sunday.

I'll give everyone the heads up and post a message on the last page with the new link.

Thanks Dee! I knew it was discussed a few weeks back, but I couldn't remember what the cutoff was. I'll be sure to check in this weekend.

I just received am email from our TA and she said that there is a rumor that free dining for Sept will not include the BCV :sad1: She asked me if there was another resort we would like to go to if that is the case. I was talking to my husband and he saw how disappointed I was about the possibility of not staying at the BC, he said "Don't worry honey we can stay at the BCV's!":lovestruc
I am one lucky lady

I am still hoping that it is a rumor though I like to save $$$$:thumbsup2

We're planning a September trip to the BCV . . . wondering why the BCV would be excluded?
Thanks, Linda

I'm beyond excited to finally be staying at the BC! I'm sure there's so much to learn so I'm trying to read every single page of this thread. Already up to page 65! :yay:

It seems the discounts overall are less year over year. Last year we were able to book a 35% off for our September stay in January, now the offers only extend until June. (obviously outside of PINs, Bouncebacks, etc.) Mostly Disney is playing the supply and demand game. They are filling more rooms at rack rate, so the need to offer steep discounts is waning.

I would guess that by 2013 when Fantasyland is open, the discounts will be VERY limited.:confused3

Just my opinion. I'm still hoping for an October discount / PIN to come my way!!!:goodvibes

I love the 11 days from now game! I love the 2 days from now game even more!!!

Have you received a March activities schedule from IPO? If you do, or if you request one, would you mind PMing or emailing it to me (beachclubdee@yahoo.com)

Thank you!

Hi Dee,

I haven't received a March activities schedule, but I'll ask them for one and send it to you if they send it.

I'm getting my sister psyched up for our long-awaited trip to Beach Club, just three short months away! Neither of us have ever had the pleasure of staying at an Epcot resort before. I'm trying to give her a sense of just how close we'll be. Generally speaking, how long can I say the walk will be from Beach Club to, let's say, the Land Pavillon? How about to Norway? I've read that room location at Beach Club can add some time- just a general idea would be great! Also- I'll be arriving from a work conference, which is being held at the Hilton Bonnet Creek. Does anyone have any idea how much of a taxi ride I should plan on (distance, time, and/or $$) between Hilton Bonnet Creek and Beach Club? Thanks! :yay:

Never really timed it, but my guestimates:

BC to International Gateway, 5-7 minutes
International Gateway to The Land- 10-12 minutes
International Gateway to Norway- 10-12 minutes

So, 15-20 minutes, plus or minus, to each of those locations.

If others have different guesses, post here.

No idea on the distance/time/price for a cab to Hilton Bonnet Creek.

I timed myself walking to Epcot from the BC lobby, well, actually, I timed it from when I went out to the lake, as I turned left. It took me 3 minutes and 22 seconds.

The snow plow is going by, but who cares - we leave in 4 days! :cool1: Everyone is home from school so today is a perfect day to get the bags packed. I am trying to avoid my norm - packing the night before.

We recently changed our transportation plans and will be renting a car from the beginning of our trip vs. the day we leave WDW to head to other Orlando locations. My question: I want to swing into a grocery or department store to pick up some snacks and such. I need it to be a store that carries a good selection (I need my staple breakfast item: nonfat greek plain yogurt - ho hum), so drug stores won't cut it. Can anyone suggest a place between the airport and BC? Thanks!

After a lot of silly anguish on my part, I have changed my reservation from YC to BC (which I never even told you about) and now to, GASP, BWI!!! We are so sad not to be staying at the YC/BC, but here is my whole, sorry story: Booked Std view YC CL 7 nights. We are using a CM discount, so on spur of the moment decided to add Dining Plan, but could get "only" non-CL at BC for 7 nights. Was so excited. Called DH. DH was NOT excited. DH was ticked that we were not in CL digs. Tried within 15 minutes to get YC CL no dining back, but nothing available. Tried BC, was able to book CL, but only 6 nights. Later I booked our last night at YC, standard, as was only thing available. Was able to change that to studio at BCV (at least we'd be staying on the same side of the resort) and finally was able to change THAT to BC, standard room. Problem #1 being that we would have to change rooms on our last full day. OK, I would take the hit since it was "my bad", and I was already planning how I would selflessly send family to park whilst I packed up and sent our things to Bell Services until later in the day. Even convinced myself that this would be a GOOD thing, as we would hopefully remain almost fully packed for out departure the next day. Problem # 2 however, was not to be solved. I still had TWO reservations which could not be linked even though it was all BC. I sought the advice of our resident SAINT, Teena, and realized that my CM relative would be using up two of her Friends and Family allotments and that was not fair to her at all (she is actually a step SIL on my husband's side, and she has plenty of friends and family of her own, I am sure, who would also love to take advantage of her CM discount).

I agonized over what to do. Booking our last night at AP or even rack rate would solve the CM 2 reservation problem, but we would still have to change rooms. Suddenly we saw that there was a Deluxe room available, CL at BWI, for all 7 nights. We had never stayed there. It is right across the pond from our beloved YC/BC. We would not have to change rooms, and SIL would only have to use 1 CM allotment. Also, although more expensive than our original room, the BWI deluxe rooms appear to be huge. My DD's are 17 and 22, so we are all fully grown, and the extra space should be very welcome.

When I contacted the YC/BC IPO to let them know that we were changing to BWI, and I asked for the e-mail of the BWI IPO, they told me that they handle that for BWI as well, so that was a happy moment.

I have to tell you that the Yacht and Beach Club boards that you guys put so much effort into are AMAZING, especially when you start reading another resort's boards. NO COMPARISON. I love hanging out here and reading about everyone's plans, vacations, and plain old regular lives back home. Here, it feels like a family. So I am staying on these boards.

Teena, I will still come over to see you if you are there. Our family always takes a picture outside by the butterfly.

Thanks everybody!

Now that I think of it .... we land at 10:30pm so it would need to be an all-hour grocery stop, like WalMart. I assume Publix and Target close earlier than I could get there.

Sorry to hear about your switch, but it makes sense. I know you will have a great trip!

Thank you so much for your very kind comments about the thread.

You are certainly welcome to hang around here, no matter where you are staying!
