Rusty, glad you had a good time! Those chocolate tuxedo strawberries look divine. Your son is so cute!

Did you and your DH ever wind up going out for a private dinner together -- I think you were contemplating sending your DS to the Sandcastle Club?

We went to the Yachtsmans for dinner. Nathan was the first kid in the club and the last one to leave that night. He said that he wished we had waited another hour because he was having fun playing Wii with the Counselor there.:sad2: It was a nice night for all of us.

Nathan ended up eating 2 of those strawberries! They were good and a very unexpected surprise. We brought the Mickey home and we still have not wanted to eat it yet.

Oh and on the Superbowl parade pic we were hoping for the Baltimore Ravens. Once they were out Chuck and Nathan did not care about watching the Superbowl. Though we did end up catching the last quarter. We happened to be at MK that day and were actually leaving and then ran into the crowd on the parade route. We then realized why they were all there since it wasn't the regular parade time. Basically we got lucky! Even though we were are not fans it was cool. Nathan was excited and stated that it was a once in a lifetime opportunity for him. I am sure he is correct on that. Eli Manning was beaming and it was hard not to be moved by him. We followed each other up Main Street on our way out of the park.

Congrats on booking flights!! That always makes it seem so real!

Sorry about your DS. We are going through the same thing right now with our oldest (DS11 - 5th grade). He has high functioning autism & has started noticing that he needs extra help with a lot of things. We live in a small town so the school is tiny & there aren't a lot of kids who need as much help as him. Yet he is brilliant at math & memorizing anything you put in front of him! He's been saying how he feels stupid & nobody else is like him. It's been tough. School actually called me in for a meeting yesterday because they are concerned with his anxiety level. I'll be happy when he moves on to middle school next year and there is a larger pool of kids, more of whom will be like him. I'm very concerned about the social stuff next year, but that's another whole story... Good luck helping your DS through this stuff!

Thanks for the thoughts. I hope you and your DS can celebrate his strengths and not concentrate on his differences... (((hugs)))

:rotfl2: Lol! All in good fun all in good fun!!

:thumbsup2 Hubby was born and raised in Northern NJ. He is a Yankees fan and I am a lifelong Sox fan. (in today's mail -tix for Sox-Yankees at the 100th Anniversary of Fenway.) He is not, however, a Giants fan. Somehow he ended up a Cowboys fan - go figure. We are big sports fans, and we always say that while we love our teams, it's the sport first so we can appreciate good play no matter who it is.

Great photos though, and Rusty's son is right, definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity.

We went to BC from June 10th to the 20th and we would always hit the pool at peak hours: 1-4:30pm. We never had a problem finding chairs. One day we had to stroll a bit, but we found 'em. It was so HOT out that you know people were using the pool but it never felt crowded due to it's size and rambling nature.

I think they do such a great job keeping out the riff raff and watching the water at SAB. In fact, a life guard even called security on me at night when I was taking pictures of the pool, just to make sure I was a guest!

Cross Storm Along bay off of the list of things to worry about at Beach Club/Yacht Club/ Beach Club Villas. You shouldn't be having any problems!

Rusty, great photos! Really makes me miss BC!

Marlton Mom, I absolutely agree! For anyone concerned about crowds, I can tell you that I took most of the photos on the SAB photo thread (see link first page) between 11am and 4pm on a hot, sunny August afternoon. It doesn't look crowded because it doesn't feel crowded. Might be different if you're looking for several loungers in a row, but we just need a corner to stash our stuff and we're in the water. :)

And, although it hurts every fiber of my being to post this...

I know Dee- PAINFUL!!! You are a good person. That should be Tom.

We will be taking our first trip to the BC on 10/8-10/9 and it will also be our first time on the CL! We are very excited! Questions: Is the above picture of a juliet balcony? And if there is a bounceback offer when we go, and we make a reservation, would we be able to change the dates if needed and still get the bounceback rate? And at that time of year, what is the usual temp outside (thinking about SAB- one of the reasons we picked BC)? And if you had to pick a resort restaurant or a BW restaurant for supper, which would you pick? Lunch will be Beaches and Cream of course. Thanks everyone![/QUOTE]

We love The Flying Fish at the BW. Cape May clambake is very good also!

We're looking forward to our first BC visit in August! I have a couple of quick, albeit possibly super redundant, questions. I tried searching the forum for the answers, to no avail, so I apologize for these newbie questions.

1. A couple years ago, we considered BC for one of our trips and at the time, there were rooms with 2 full sized beds (instead of 2 queens). Is this still the case or have they all been replaced with queens during the last refurb?

2. Pool floats for the lazy river. I know they rent them - I assume that means you can't bring your own? What is the daily rental rate? Do they offer a weekly rate too? Are they hard to get, or plentiful?

Thank you very much for your patience and help! We're thrilled to be staying here for the first time!

Okay, that's your story and um, you're sticking to it, right?

Seriously thanks to you & everyone else for the SAB info.

Welcome!!! We love so many restaurants in the Epcot resort area - Bluezoo, Il Mulino and Flying Fish are among our favorites. But if I had to choose an absolute favorite, it would be Yachtsman. This is surprising because I really love the menus at the other three I mentioned and actually prefer them over the Yachtsman menu. (Although the appetizer menu at Yachtsman is great.) But the combination of cozy atmosphere and good food at Yachtsman - perfect for either a family dinner or a date - put that at the top of my Epcot resort restaurant list. Good luck with your decision!

Thanks. I did try a dummy run and can book for 13 August (180 days) but I am concerned that they could just cancel everyone's bookings. I can make our booking on Sunday when our 180+ window opens, so fingers crossed.

I hope they don't cancel...that would stink! Now I'm wondering if we should make a backup dining ressie somewhere else just in case...

Congrats and welcome to the club! All rooms have either a king size or two queens.

As for the floats, I know they sell noodles, but tube floats have to be rented. If I remember correctly, the longest you could rent them for was for the day, not the week. I wish I could tell you what it cost to rent, but the wonderful CM didn't charge me because I only used the tubes for a couple of laps around the stream!

Can you float along the lazy river without a tube?

So here's my dilemma, and maybe my fellow Beach Club lunatics can chime in...

I'm in the middle of planning a big family vacation in which we'll be celebrating a couple of things.

1. My nephew's first visit!

2. My father's birthday!

3. Our first DVC stay! And yes, BCV is our home resort!

My problem is that my sister-in-law and my nephew live right in the heart of Cape Cod. I want to make this special for him, but if he lives and breathes the atmosphere that the BC is trying to emulate, I fear he may find it blase. My brother also runs the top resort in the Caribbean, so I know he'll be viewing the BC in a much different light than we do.

I've thought about staying someplace else, but I keep coming back to BCV for the convenience more than anything. Someone please tell me I'm making the right choice and I welcome any and all suggestions!

BTW......GIANTS ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rusty4( via Dee :) ) - Thanks for the pictures, they are great. Your son looks so happy!

MarltonMom - Ooh, almost down to the single digits. Can't wait to see some of the pictures you bring back!

One question. Have they stayed at WDW before or are they new?

This will be their first stay on property. My brother has been to WDW, but the last time was when we were in high school.

Or Gronk. Or Wilfork. Although I'm not sure the suspension of the car would survive. He's a BIG boy!!!

1).First night I would take them to Illuminations, near maybe UK or France, and as it ends just stand there and watch the masses exiting. Then say "Now we will stroll back to our room!" as you describe the bus lines and monorail!

2). Introduce them to Teena. (Greeter at BC)

Not necessarily in that order
