Our new dates are now August 11-18...Dee, can you update our dates on the Be our Guest page, please? and for anyone that's been August, will going a week earlier really make a huge difference with crowds?

We were in Disney last Aug 9-16 (but not at the BC). Although August is not our preferred month, we went to surprise my daughter for her Bday.

We went thinking that it would be the worst in weather and crowds. We were pleasantly surprised. The weather was hot and humid, but not as bad as we expected. The crowds were not as bad, either. We are morning park people, afternoon pool and back to the parks in the evening. There were times in the park that became really crowded and long wait lines, so we just would leave for swimming or take a long lunch break.
I think as long as you have a good attitude and know what to expect you will
be fine.
We will be at BC for Spring Break next month. We know what to expect in
crowds. We plan to spend A LOT of time at the pool.:thumbsup2[/QUOTE]

Thank you...we pretty much vacation the same way (head out early, take a
break & head back at night). While I've planned plenty of park time, we are no
longer "park commandos" & decided that this trip would be more laid back.
Thanks again for sharing your experience. I actually feel more at ease now...
Enjoy your trip next month!

I can only speak for the schools in Georgia, but most of our schools start back before the 11th of August. We live in Northwest Georgia, and our schools started August 5 this past year. Hopefully the crowds will not be too terrible. I know your family will have a wonderful time.

I didn't realize some schools started that early...good to know. Going in August is new for us. We've always gone in the Fall but with one DD starting college & the other starting high school, our Fall trips will have to wait for a while. I just keep telling myself Disney in August is still better than no Disney :)

We went the August 18th-23rd last year and to be honest, it was not as bad as I had planned for. We had one day at Epcot where the heat index was over 110 that was pretty rough but we were all fine and had a great time. The humidity didn't really bother us since it can get really humid here and the crowds were manageable for sure.

We love going late Aug. The last 2 weeks. Crowds are lower, and it's value season too, and the good discounts come out. I don't mind the heat, and will take that trade off for lower crowds anytime. I have a 20 min wait tolerance for attractions

Roll over to ### days! Nannette at Disney and the sound of baseballs coming off a bat. Just says springtime doesn't it.

Yes it does Mike!! Probably have to rethink a few things I had planned to do... might be more laying around the pool! I only think in my head things will be ok... but really IF the Dr. says I can take the boot off how much walking will I really be able to do?!? I'm fine with laying around the pool, spending time with DD and going to see my beloved Yankee's at a spring training game!!

I know just how hot it can get so there'll be no surprises for me or DH and I've been trying to prepare both my teen DD's by telling them to forget about having good hair days  and to prepare to wear their hair up everyday. They get it but I'm just "hoping" the crowds are not as bad as they can get let's say 4th of July week. It doesn't appear that they will be based on what I'm hearing, BUT, I'd rather go in preparing for that just in case and if August ends up being our new vacation month for a while, I might as well get used to it! We fell in love with the BC when we stayed their for the first time last October and are planning to spend quite a bit of time at SAB - and that in itself, is easy to get used to :)

Nothing better than hitting a park first thing in the morning, coming back and hanging by SAB until dinner time and then hitting a park when the sun goes down.

Bob and I are hoping to book a few nights in June and August at the BC so we can enjoy SAB!!

Hey Teena, Welcome back! Hope you had a great trip! Now that our dates have changed in August, I do hope we get to see you!

We're back!

We had a wonderful trip. Got back on Sunday. Snowed her on Monday! Crazy.

We were upgraded to a wonderful waterview room!! Room # 2645. We seriously get why people pay for the view now. We loved everything about this room's view, location and size.:lovestruc

We were able to see Teena 2 of the days that we were there. Nathan was disappointed that she did not work more days of our trip so that he could visit with her. She is great! We have a picture with her but I have no idea how to post them.

Nathan was surprised with balloons, candy and a card and photo from Donald and Daisy for his birthday. Chuck and I were surprised with a white Chocolate Mickey, 4 tuxedo chocolate dipped strawberries and cookies and milk ( we are thinking maybe they included those for Nathan)for our Anniversary with a card as well. We have never had these sweet touches before!!

We had many towel animals while there as well. The location of the room was close to the lobby. No noise at all. The room looked out to the beach and the boardwalk resort. You could hear the movie at night if you were on the balcony but a tree blocked the view. Chuck and Nathan enjoyed listening to it one night. We loved being close to the lobby and pool.

The pool is totally divided in 2 right now. You have to exit the slide side of the pool completely to get to the beach side of it. That was a pain somewhat but you deal with it. The lazy river we did not get to time. Sorry Dee. It was very slow and Nathan gave up after a few feet. We are thinking that has something to do with the rehab. The water was way to cold for me! I found an area that seemed warmer than others but it was still to cold for me. Nathan and Chuck braved it for a while. The beach area was warmer it seemed. They did the slide numerous times. Then we took all of our stuff and went over to the beach side. We did the pool 2 of our days. The second day we timed it wrong. It was hot and sunny but by the time we got to the pool it cloudy and the temps had really dropped.

We wanted to eat at Hurricane Hanna's one night but found that the food part closed at 6pm. So we never got to try it. We ate at Beaches and Cream twice. Same table both times. At dinner from the Marketplace once. Chuck and I split a grilled vegetable wrap. It was good. Nate had the kids pizza. Had many treats from there as well. The chocolate croissant being our favorite.

Dee, the gelato flavors are chocolate, cookies and cream and no sugar added Mango. Forgot to get the pricing. We tried the chocolate gelato from MK and it was so good. Never tried it from the marketplace though I assume it is the same stuff.

Overall it was a wonderful trip. Weather was fantastic! 70's most of our 8 days there. BC is our new favorite. Followed by POR. We would stay at BC again and again if our budget allows. The pool even with the rehab going is such a great feature, Teena is wonderful and the walk to Epcot and the Boardwalk if another draw for us. It was nice to stroll over to the Boardwalk and grab a pizza without having to go into the park when we were over stimulated.

Thank you for all of your wonderful tips that made our trip even more enjoyable!

Hi rusty! Thanks for the detailed report about your trip- I'm glad you had a nice time. What a nice upgrade and wonderful treats to celebrate your special occasions! :cool1:

Thanks for the gelato info and the pool update. No problem on the lazy river time test. That is probably better done when the temps are warmer. It's good that you got to enjoy some pool time.

If you have any pictures you want me to post for you, you can email them to me at beachclubdee@yahoo.com

We have done tutorials here on multi-quoting, I'll do one a little later on posting photos.

Thank you. I will email you some!

I have read several comments about the pool and it sounds like it is being refurbished. Is it being refurbished or is it just under normal winter maintenance? If it is being refurbished, does anyone know when it will be done? Thank you :)

That's our idea of heaven! Add a sunken treasure and a Hurricane Hannah's burger and you have utopia!

Hi Teena, my husband and I were just talking about this last night. I think this will be our game plan most days... park at rope drop, nap and pool time in the afternoon, then dinner and a park at night. Do you happen to know the busy times for SAB? I'm assuming it goes in spurts. Also, do you know if the staff maintains the chairs? Meaning, do they monitor if people leave towels there all day and don't actually come back? I get so annoyed by people who put towels on an obnoxious amount of chairs to "save" them and never come back, or do come back and only use 2. Thanks!

I didn't take my camera to the pool so I don't have any pics. But if you look at post 2 on the first page and look at the striped umbrella. If you draw a straight line on each side from that anything behind that line is not usable right now. The 2 spas that are on the right on each side of the tree are available for use right now. The spa on the beach side is not. To left of that umbrella takes you to the beach side. Right now that is all a solid built wall.

In the next post there is a diagram of the pool. The wall continues across where there is a white dotted line behind the lazy river. You can see the spa in the beach area that is not working right now. It is not walled off at all so not sure why it was not filled and working.

It looked to me like most of the work right now was on the elevated walkways not the pool itself. Hope that helps some. We did not ask how long the work is suppose to take. I don't remember seeing anyone working on it while there. We did see alot of work going on at the YC and DH commented how fast they were going too. They were replacing the siding on the walls near the back main entrance while we were there.

I am soooo excited (can't you tell)??? I was waiting to get a seat sale, and I noticed that a bunch of flights I was considering had disappeared, and I started to get upset. So, I bit the bullet and booked flights that were more expensive than I wanted, but at least no overnight stays, and I arrive at MCO at 1:00 p.m. so I should be at the BC by 3!!! :) Flight out is at 2 p.m. so we shouldn't have to get up too early to check out. Don't get home until after midnight but that's a function of the time difference as well, and we fly back on Friday so the kids will have the weekend to recover before heading back to school.

I have dinner booked at 8 for Biergarten that night, so we should have a bit of time to enjoy the pool before we head out to supper.

Unfortunately 5 minutes after I booked the flight I got a call from school that my son was really upset. He is having a real crisis with self esteem and self confidence at the moment - he thinks he's stupid even though he tests gifted, and he thinks he has no friends even though he is like Norm from Cheers when he goes into his class. :sad1: So I had to pop over to school to speak to him and calm him down. He was doing a test in social studies and had to list some qualities that he thought were important in a friend and it made him upset. Poor kiddo. He feels everything so intensely. I told him I booked the flights and talked to him about what we will do when we get to the BC, and it helped to cheer him up.

They're getting YC all ready for me. :lmao:
