We're looking forward to our first BC visit in August! I have a couple of quick, albeit possibly super redundant, questions. I tried searching the forum for the answers, to no avail, so I apologize for these newbie questions.

1. A couple years ago, we considered BC for one of our trips and at the time, there were rooms with 2 full sized beds (instead of 2 queens). Is this still the case or have they all been replaced with queens during the last refurb?

2. Pool floats for the lazy river. I know they rent them - I assume that means you can't bring your own? What is the daily rental rate? Do they offer a weekly rate too? Are they hard to get, or plentiful?

Thank you very much for your patience and help! We're thrilled to be staying here for the first time!

:welcome:

If you would like to be added to the first page Be Our Guest list, let us know the dates of your trip.

As others have said, all full sized beds have been replaced with Queens (and a few Kings in a small number of rooms).

Last I knew, float rental was $3/hour or $10/day. You might find some loose floats in the river in the late afternoon or early evening. No floats from home allowed, but you can bring your own noodles.

Can you float along the lazy river without a tube?

Yes, and it is a lot of fun to try to swim against the current!

So here's my dilemma, and maybe my fellow Beach Club lunatics can chime in...

I'm in the middle of planning a big family vacation in which we'll be celebrating a couple of things.

1. My nephew's first visit!

2. My father's birthday!

3. Our first DVC stay! And yes, BCV is our home resort!

My problem is that my sister-in-law and my nephew live right in the heart of Cape Cod. I want to make this special for him, but if he lives and breathes the atmosphere that the BC is trying to emulate, I fear he may find it blase. My brother also runs the top resort in the Caribbean, so I know he'll be viewing the BC in a much different light than we do.

I've thought about staying someplace else, but I keep coming back to BCV for the convenience more than anything. Someone please tell me I'm making the right choice and I welcome any and all suggestions!

BTW......GIANTS ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The thing we love most about the Beach Club is the location. It is wonderful being so close to EPCOT and to Hollywood Studios. The pool is pretty awesome, too. So even if the atmosphere does not blow them away, it is still a great resort for their stay.

Ooh, top resort in the Caribbean. This Caribbean traveler is intrigued...

Hi all,

Our vacation at the BC is finally here. One week to go. Do any of you have any last minute tips for next week? Is the weather ok to swim? We're all so excited!

We went to BC from June 10th to the 20th and we would always hit the pool at peak hours: 1-4:30pm. We never had a problem finding chairs. One day we had to stroll a bit, but we found 'em. It was so HOT out that you know people were using the pool but it never felt crowded due to it's size and rambling nature.

I think they do such a great job keeping out the riff raff and watching the water at SAB. In fact, a life guard even called security on me at night when I was taking pictures of the pool, just to make sure I was a guest!

Cross Storm Along bay off of the list of things to worry about at Beach Club/Yacht Club/ Beach Club Villas. You shouldn't be having any problems!

Thank you MM and Teena!! :)

Taking our first trip to Disney with our kids (ages 5.5 and 3.5 when we go). We are also going with both sets of grandparents and we will all be staying at BC! Can't wait! WHen I went as a kid we stayed at Contemporary, the Poly, and Dixie Landing (I think it's Port Orleans now, right?)
Very excited to be going October 30th to November 3rd! I'm also very excited to have found this thread so I can feel totally prepared for our stay at BC!

MarltonMom - Ooh, almost down to the single digits. Can't wait to see some of the pictures you bring back!

Ah yes, almost single digits.... but I won't be staying at the Beach Club since I couldn't afford the cost. Running away from home can do that to a Mom!

Right now I'm preparing the house for my absence.... by cleaning and stocking up on things that DH and DS are going to run out of while I'm gone. I'd hate to see them go all feral in my absence and you just know that's exactly what's going to happen while I am gone. I was going to stock the pantry with healthy choice snacks but who am I kidding! Unless I'm there to chase them around the house with the veggies and fruits it's going to be a Frito Lay Fiesta at my house while I'm gone!! When I come back I'm sure they'll both be suffering from advanced coronary artery disease, constipation and jungle rot. All I can say is the house better not be a mess or I'm turning around and going right back to Disney World until they clean it up!

I'm also cleaning and organizing my photography equipment and I'll start packing shortly. It's nice not to be wearing the summer clothes that I'll be taking down so I can toss them right in the case. I'm also studying my photography notes on camera operation and assorted techniques that I'll be trying when I shoot the World.

Chef's often say a cookbook isn't loved until it's got food stains on every page. My camera manuals have urgent multicolored notes on top of notes and my hand made print outs are printed, laminated, added to, printed again, laminated, added to again etc until I have to say uncle and go with what I know and leave the rest for later. Right now I'm working on learning how to take 360 degree panographic photographs so I've rented some special equipment and I've studied some techniques. Hopefully I'll be ready. I am also prepared to shoot all my photos so that I can convert them into HDR images. This is still a learning process with me, especially on the software side but I am ready to go camera wise.

So that's whats up with me. I will desperately miss the Beach Club but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do when she's running away from home. It will be so nice not to have to herd anybody or make compromises about what is done when. Heck, I even have the other bed to dump all my camera equipment on!

Nice!!!!!

Hi all!! Only 90 days to go (started at 280+), it's getting closer!!!!!!

Rusty love your pics and the bday card/balloons is too cute. It will be my daughter's 9th bday when we arrive, hoping for some pixie dust like that too for her.

I still have 1 table service that is not planned, thinking of doing Chief Mickey's @ 730am on our last day since we don't fly out till 7pm. Do you think it feasible to do and how does it work with checking out (I'm also going to inquire about late check out when checking in)?

Mmmm, Frito Lay

:rotfl:

But seriously, I totally envy you... time alone, a focus on your passion, and TWO beds all to yourself!

When I get over this whole having to work all the time thing, I'm totally running away to Disney by myself.

How exciting!!! Have a great trip!

rusty4 talks a little about pool time a couple of pages back. She said it was fine for her husband and son, a little on the cool side for her liking.

Pack your swimsuit and hope for the best.

Sounds like a fantastic family trip. I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

What are your plans for the day? Park? Back to the resort for a swim? Something else? CM is totally do-able. We have checked in for our flight pretty early, maybe around 6 am. I think you want to be sure to use the resort checkin by noon-time. I'm not sure of the exact times for the Resort Airline Checkin. Any carryons can be checked with Bell Services while you are out playing.

Even if you don't get the late checkout, you will still be able to use Stormalong Bay and the other pools and there are lockers/showers available for use in the Health Club for sprucing up before your flight.

Two of the people at school, along with their families, leave for BCV on Saturday. And neither of them is me :(

He works on the island of Anguilla in the BVI. I always tell him thathe kisses celebrities' butts for a living!

We will be taking our first trip to the BC on 10/8-10/9 and it will also be our first time on the CL! We are very excited! Questions: Is the above picture of a juliet balcony? And if there is a bounceback offer when we go, and we make a reservation, would we be able to change the dates if needed and still get the bounceback rate? And at that time of year, what is the usual temp outside (thinking about SAB- one of the reasons we picked BC)? And if you had to pick a resort restaurant or a BW restaurant for supper, which would you pick? Lunch will be Beaches and Cream of course. Thanks everyone!

No, our balcony was a full one. The one next to it was too. If you look at the building to the right it has a juliet balcony above the full size ones.

Marlton Mom: Will there be a full photo trip report when you return? I don't care if it's just photos with very little verbage, but I'd love to see a whole thread of the just photos you intend to take with maybe a description here and there.

Thank you very much for the warm welcome! I appreciate the answers to my questions and I'm especially relieved to hear they finally did away with the full sized beds. One less thing to put on my room request. We requested a full balcony, but no specific room location because I can't decide if I'd rather be closer to the pool or Epcot. Our girls are 8 & 12 so walking isn't a concern.

Also, off topic, but I wanted to throw my thoughts and hugs out to the two posters who are struggling with their DS' social/school challenges. Gifted identification and education is near and dear to my heart and I wanted to let you know that, unfortunately, these struggles are very very common with advanced learners. It doesn't make it easier to deal with, but know that you're not alone and just do your best to supplement their self confidence so they know how they fit in to this world. It was the best advice I ever received for my DD and my DH and I have worked hard to develop her into a socialized introvert. And surprisingly, middle school has been a wonderful experience for her this year. Best of luck to you both.

Not sure why exactly, but I feel a connection with these kids. When I look at people like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, etc., I think about what their childhoods were like, I wonder if they were like these kids - incredibly gifted, brilliant minds who didn't feel like they fit in. And then they have made such amazing contributions to society and everyone wants to be them or be in their lives. I wish each of you all the best and I hope that your kids all find their way in this world and that they can get through their turbulent teen years with minimal scars so that they can make their marks in this world.

Here is the info I found on Cape May closing dates.

Cape May Cafe at Disney's Beach Club Resort will be closing for a refurbishment this summer. The restaurant will close on July 9 through to August 4 2012, with a planned reopening on August 5 2012.

This is from the wdwmagic site

http://www.wdwmagic.com/Dining/Cape...e-closing-for-refurbishment-in-the-summer.htm
I've seen these same dates on a couple different sites. Bummer for all those traveling in the summer, but I'm glad they'll be reopened for our trip since we planned 2 meals there.

Hi, I have a question regarding the coffee maker in the room at the Yacht Club. I like to bring my own coffee, I read that the Yacht Club has pod machines is this true? and if so what type of coffee does that take? Thank you so much for any help. Also I love this thread everyone is so nice and helpful, I have been looking forward to staying at the Yacht Club for a few years. Will be there April 23 - April 28.

I will add you to the first page Be Our Guest list :yay:

Here is the info on coffee makers at the YC/BC. Some coffee will be provided in the room but I'm not sure where you purchase the pods for these if you want to bring your own:

What kind of coffeemakers are in the resort rooms?

As of October 2011, the drip coffee makers in the BC and YC resort rooms were replaced.

The regular resort rooms and club level rooms now have the Cuisinart Double Pod Machines:

Thanks for the photos, Rorey and Cinderumbrella!

Please note that the suites reportedly have Keurig k-cup machines.

The coffee makers in the Beach Club Villa rooms are Mr. Coffee-type (drip) coffee makers. I think the 2 BR and 1 BR BCV kitchenettes have a 10 cup machine and the BCV studios have a 4 cup carafe.
