That's our idea of heaven! Add a sunken treasure and a Hurricane Hannah's burger and you have utopia!

Adding my :thumbsup2 to Teena and Robyn's comments. Since the early 80s, I've always been to WDW during the months of December, January, February or March. Two years ago, we purchased APs and started adding trips during the summer months. Thanks to Dee, Robyn, Teena and many others here on the BC/YC thread, we developed a plan and now we LOVE summer at WDW. Although I'll admit that when we return to a park at night in the summer, it's almost always Epcot - summer evening crowds at DHS and MK were too heavy for us!

We took a stroll by YC this weekend and noticed the line between SAB (somewhat along the lazy river) as well as a number of rooms on the water facing side which had exposed insulation (perhaps the work they were talking about with the pipes?) It didn't look terrible, but was noticeable at the same time.

Seems like most of the resorts were doing something though, Contemporary (where we stayed) Had tarp over a good portion of the tower MK view rooms, and GF is really starting to look rough around the wedding pavilion. I suspect they are all trying to get everything perfect before the Fantasyland expansions opening next year.:confused3

Hopefully it will all be cleared up before our October visit... I am looking forward to my SAB time!:goodvibes

I had switched to BC because of work being done to Poly pool. Guest services (as opposed to reservations) has been helping me. They told me there were no alerts for SAB while I am there next week. So it probably is walkway work as opposed to pool work although it is possible that something breaks down and has to be fixed somewhere.

Hi Teena, my husband and I were just talking about this last night. I think this will be our game plan most days... park at rope drop, nap and pool time in the afternoon, then dinner and a park at night. Do you happen to know the busy times for SAB? I'm assuming it goes in spurts. Also, do you know if the staff maintains the chairs? Meaning, do they monitor if people leave towels there all day and don't actually come back? I get so annoyed by people who put towels on an obnoxious amount of chairs to "save" them and never come back, or do come back and only use 2. Thanks!

They are suppose to monitor the chairs and I agree, it is so upsetting when people put towels and a t-shirt on the chairs first thing in the morning and then go away and don't come back until 2 PM.

We've been there in April, June and early September and don't have problems finding chairs ... it's so big. But I don't have a problem asking people nearby if they have seen anybody use chairs that have towels on them and if they say nobody has been there, I throw up off the chairs and use the chairs myself. Bob and I run into that on cruise ships too (Disney, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, etc.) ... it's just rude!!!

We will be taking our first trip to the BC on 10/8-10/9 and it will also be our first time on the CL! We are very excited! Questions: Is the above picture of a juliet balcony? And if there is a bounceback offer when we go, and we make a reservation, would we be able to change the dates if needed and still get the bounceback rate? And at that time of year, what is the usual temp outside (thinking about SAB- one of the reasons we picked BC)? And if you had to pick a resort restaurant or a BW restaurant for supper, which would you pick? Lunch will be Beaches and Cream of course. Thanks everyone!

I've just read on a dining review that the Yachtsman Steakhouse is going to be closed for two weeks in August when the relay the floor. Can anyone confirm this? We were hoping to have our Wedding meal here on 22 August.

Where is the smiley with the tape over it's mouth....since my Mama did teach me that if I didn't have anything nice to say, not to say anything at all.

hehe

I haven't heard anything but did want to post that I made my ADR's for the Yachtsman on August 11th with no issue.

Rusty, glad you had a good time! Those chocolate tuxedo strawberries look divine. Your son is so cute!

Did you and your DH ever wind up going out for a private dinner together -- I think you were contemplating sending your DS to the Sandcastle Club?

Thanks. I did try a dummy run and can book for 13 August (180 days) but I am concerned that they could just cancel everyone's bookings. I can make our booking on Sunday when our 180+ window opens, so fingers crossed.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

The balcony in the main part of the picture is the regular balcony. If you look at the building to the left, you can see a few of the smaller, Juliet balconies. There is also a good illustration in the FAQ Section, Page 1 of this thread, of the different balconies.

I believe if you book the bounceback, you can make changes at the BB rate, BUT maybe it has to be one of the other valid dates for the offer.

I think you should be good to swim in October!

Lots of great restaurants at the BC/YC/BW area. I can personally vouch for the Cape May Clambake and the Captain's Grille. There is also the signature Yachtsman Steakhouse at YC. Boardwalk has a few places. Check out some of the menus on the Restaurant board to see what interests you.

I am soooo excited (can't you tell)??? I was waiting to get a seat sale, and I noticed that a bunch of flights I was considering had disappeared, and I started to get upset. So, I bit the bullet and booked flights that were more expensive than I wanted, but at least no overnight stays, and I arrive at MCO at 1:00 p.m. so I should be at the BC by 3!!! :) Flight out is at 2 p.m. so we shouldn't have to get up too early to check out. Don't get home until after midnight but that's a function of the time difference as well, and we fly back on Friday so the kids will have the weekend to recover before heading back to school.

I have dinner booked at 8 for Biergarten that night, so we should have a bit of time to enjoy the pool before we head out to supper.

Unfortunately 5 minutes after I booked the flight I got a call from school that my son was really upset. He is having a real crisis with self esteem and self confidence at the moment - he thinks he's stupid even though he tests gifted, and he thinks he has no friends even though he is like Norm from Cheers when he goes into his class. :sad1: So I had to pop over to school to speak to him and calm him down. He was doing a test in social studies and had to list some qualities that he thought were important in a friend and it made him upset. Poor kiddo. He feels everything so intensely. I told him I booked the flights and talked to him about what we will do when we get to the BC, and it helped to cheer him up.

Congrats on booking flights!! That always makes it seem so real!

Sorry about your DS. We are going through the same thing right now with our oldest (DS11 - 5th grade). He has high functioning autism & has started noticing that he needs extra help with a lot of things. We live in a small town so the school is tiny & there aren't a lot of kids who need as much help as him. Yet he is brilliant at math & memorizing anything you put in front of him! He's been saying how he feels stupid & nobody else is like him. It's been tough. School actually called me in for a meeting yesterday because they are concerned with his anxiety level. I'll be happy when he moves on to middle school next year and there is a larger pool of kids, more of whom will be like him. I'm very concerned about the social stuff next year, but that's another whole story... Good luck helping your DS through this stuff!

We went to BC from June 10th to the 20th and we would always hit the pool at peak hours: 1-4:30pm. We never had a problem finding chairs. One day we had to stroll a bit, but we found 'em. It was so HOT out that you know people were using the pool but it never felt crowded due to it's size and rambling nature.

I think they do such a great job keeping out the riff raff and watching the water at SAB. In fact, a life guard even called security on me at night when I was taking pictures of the pool, just to make sure I was a guest!

Cross Storm Along bay off of the list of things to worry about at Beach Club/Yacht Club/ Beach Club Villas. You shouldn't be having any problems!
