I tried them all. Right now I have a $123 rate at POP and the least expensive rate at the Yacht or Beach Club is a BC Villa for $310. At an extra ~$200 a night I cannot justify the stay so I will take them to Blizzard Beach in lieu of Stormalong Bay.

Are you sure? I thought I read somewhere that all the Club Level rooms had the large balconies...

We have been fortunate to have full balconies for both of our club level stays at the Beach Club.

Not positive, but I thought some of the club level rooms have the small balconies. Looking over at other rooms on the 5th floor, I could have sworn I saw some of the standing room ones.

Anyone else know definitively? This info would definitely help reserved Club Level guests to make the right requests.

And once again, I will volunteer my services to personally inventory every room at the Y & B Clubs for balcony size, dresser capacity and day bed availability. Will work for lodging!

Also, I love the idea of a courtyard view room (not the woods looking at EPCOT) but also prefer to be near the lobby. Is this room request even feasible?

Thanks to all! :flower3:

I realize I am quoting myself, but I am wondering if anyone can answer this :flower3: We are booked in a GV non CL room.

(As to my other question, I did finally read through the entire thread and saw Teena posted a way back that the furniture pieces vary from room to room. I will start saving those dry cleaning hangers just in case we don't get the chest in our room).

One more, what time does Beaches N Cream open? We will be landing at 9:15am and I am guessing will be at BC to check in by 10:30am. I was thinking about grabbing a quick burger and No Way Jose before heading off to MK for the rest of the day...

Thanks all!

I know this! All the BC CL rooms do NOT have the full balcony. Our first trip to BC CL in May 2009 we requested a full balcony, but had the smaller standing balcony. I thought I would be disappointed, but it was record breaking heat and we would never have been out there. Fast forward to 2010: again BC CL, again requested full balcony. This time we got one--the room next door to the room we had the year prior. I liked the balcony for spraying sunscreen on the kids, but we never used it! I actually liked the room next door better--it seemed like it was a little bigger because it had the daybed in front of the window at the end of the room, instead of having to leave room to open patio doors. We loved both rooms, though. They were located down the hall from the lounge and we had no rooms across the hall from us, so they were quiet. They also had good views of the higher Illuminations fireworks!

For our Dec. 2010 trip we switched to YC CL. Again, LOVED it! This time, we would have used the balcony, but for record cold. :( This room felt the biggest to me of the three. (all were standard rooms, not deluxe)

I, too, would volunteer to check the rooms out! If you need help, Natebama, give me a call! :goodvibes

Hi everyone

Please can someone who is recently back from BC/YC confirm whether the chicken flatbread is still sold at Hurricane Hannas. It had a lovely red pepper sauce with it and was delicious :worship:

We have stayed several times at both resorts and loved sitting by the pool eating them but when I checked the allears menus recently I noticed that it only offers the cheeseburger and hot dog for hot choices and that was updated in October this year!!

I know it sounds like a little thing but I am considering upgrading to CL for our forthcoming Aug stay and if it is not available then I might be more tempted to do the u/g with the new discount code.

Wow, detail pictures on page 188 don't show the time Beaches and Cream opens. Guess they must have flexible start times. Guess we'll have to see if anyone was in there earlier than when I ate there at 11:30 at the beginning of Decembeer.

Even if you don't get a full chest in the room, I believe you can request extra hangars from housekeeping so you may want to keep that in mind.

Again, it really looks like Disney needs me to come and check on the rooms so I can answer these types of questions!

The info below comes from the Dining section of the DIS- Restaurant info.

IDK if it is accurate or not. Please note that it lists breakfast service which has not happened since a brief trial in summer 2009.

•Disney Restaurant Menus
Beaches and Cream Information
Food/Dining Type: American
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner,
Location: Yacht & Beach Club / Common area near Stormalong Bay
Reservations: Not Accepted
Hours: 11:00am- 11:00pm
Disney Dining Plan: YES (Table Service Credit)
Tables in Wonderland: YES

Thanks everyone! I was hoping for an 11am B&C open, since we could get there at opening (and not have to wait for a table) and still get to MK at a reasonable time.

As for hangers from housekeeping, I would be embarassed to ask for how many I would need! :rotfl: If the only drawer storage is below the TV, those few drawers would only be enough room for unmentionables and PJ's. Everything else would need to be hung (shorts, sundresses, tank tops etc) I HATE living out of a suitcase. Plus, I use the empty suitcases as my hamper to make for less packing on the last day ;)

And does anyone know if a courtyard view, close to the lobby is even a possible room request? We stayed at the BC back in 2000 and had a king corner room, but it was as far away from the lobby as you could get :sad2:

Beaches and Cream does open at 11:00 am. Lots of times we were the first family there as it is our traditional lunch as soon as we check in!

We've stayed at YC three times and BC three times and always had the chest with 5 drawers.

We just booked a quick trip to Disney April 28 - May 2 (the tail end of Easter week) but unfortunately *sob* won't be at the Beach Club. We are able to get the summer rate discount but it won't apply to the Beach Club and I can't justify spending over $350 for the least expensive room/villa so we will be at Pop Century.

My daughters and I are so sad we can't make it back to the Beach or the Yacht Club this year, they absolutely LOVED Stormalong Bay and Club Level when we went this past August, too bad we can't get the price we paid then for our upcoming trip.

Everyone, enjoy your stay at the Beach Club and if anyone is on the fence about staying here, DEFINATELY consider the Beach Club! It was our family's favorite resort, best resort we've ever been to!

Are the rates all gone? I booked yesterday morning From April 30-may 3rd and got the discount rate.

Thanks! :goodvibes It is still my hope to get one, but it certainly isn't a deal breaker for me. I tend not to put too many room requests on my ressie in general, but I may break tradition to request a room close to the lobby and a non woods view. Both of those mean more to me than whether or not there is a chest in the room :goodvibes

Also, I had a dream last night about eating a No Way Jose :cloud9:

Can anyone fill me in on the counter service at BC? We loved the options at CBR and CR and are considering BC for our next trip but I thought I've read somewhere that there are not that many options??

TIA!

Hi Shannon!

We are very happy with the counter service options at the BC and in the surrounding areas. This sticky on the restaurant board lists several options: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2483560. The menus on this site for Hurricane Hanna's and BC Marketplace are not complete, so I would suggest checking the menus on allears.net for more details:

BC Marketplace: http://allears.net/menu/menu_bcmp.htm
Hurricane Hanna's: http://allears.net/menu/menu_hh.htm

MsCoz2000 took some great photos of the HH's menu, and natebenma just posted them right above your post. While HH is near the pool, it's much more than a "pool bar" and has a menu that we think is comparable to CS locations in the parks. It's located right off the path around Crescent Lake, and they have a nice seating area.

BC Marketplace also has lots of breakfast items that are not on the menu - cereals, donuts, fruit, juice, milk, etc. that we buy on arrival day and keep in our room fridge for breakfasts.

While Beaches and Cream is a TS restaurant, they also have a walk-up counter for ice cream - we love that for late night treats! The Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin are right next to the BC/YC and offer more CS options, including the Boardwalk Bakery. We like to stop at the Bakery for a quick breakfast on the walk from BC to DHS in the early morning. You can find menus for those locations on allears.net also.

If you have park hoppers, you'll have LOTS of counter service options, as World Showcase is just steps away! While this may not be helpful for breakfast, it's a great option for lunch, dinner or snacks. We usually spend the day at another park, and then end the day with dinner at Epcot. We usually have TS dinners, but you could easily do this with the counter service locations. I always tell friends considering BC that World Showcase is the best food court in all of WDW!

Hope that helps a bit - happy planning! :wizard:

Hi all- Does anyone remember a link to a 360 degree Stormalong Bay video tour, set to tropical themed music?

It was posted on one of the prior Yacht & Beach Club threads, and I seem to remember that the poster said it was from one of the BCV or DVC threads.

Somehow, I forgot to save the link, and I have poked around the DVC boards a little bit, the Y&B resort photos and the previous Y&B thread, but I couldn't find it.

If anyone has this link to share or remembers where it came from, please let me know!

Thanks!

Dee

I know the Beach Club rooms have recently been updated...what about Yacht Club? Anyone have this info? Anyone have a strong preference for one or the other?

Thanks!

I'd love to know also about renovating updates if anyone knows.

Also, do all rooms in YC have a balcony??? Last year we were lucky enough to be at Club Level (we were upgraded when we got there - Family of the Day it was WONDERFUL, what a magical place is Disney!:wizard::cool1:), but I don't know if we are going to be able to book that this year, maybe a standard room. I did enjoy that balcony though. Just wondering about the other rooms.

And what's better YC or BC??? Or does it matter? Thanks!

I just LOVE that SAB!

I believe the Yacht Club rooms were renovated right before the Beach Club rooms were redone. Maybe 2008?

Almost all of the Yacht Club rooms have full balconies. A very few have the smaller one. I don't think you need to make full balcony a request if you reserve a room at YC.

I think about 50% of the Beach Club rooms are full balconies and 50% are standing Juliet balconies.

Here's a comparison of the two resorts, which can be found in the first few pages of this thread:

The Beach Club and Yacht Club are similar resorts in terms of service and amenities, and have equal access to the shared pool complex, health club and video arcade. Both resorts have the same management team in place.

Some minor differences have been noted by guests:

Beach Club
Lighter, beachy decor in lobby and rooms
Lobby can be active and lively with families waiting for meals at Cape May
Closer to EPCOT and Marketplace Gift Shop
Approximately 50% of rooms in all room categories have full balconies. The remaining are standing balconies.

Yacht Club
Darker woods and nautical decor in lobby and rooms
Lobby is more serene
Convention attendees are more likely to be booked at YC
Closer to Hollywood Studios and Friendship Boats
Most rooms have a full balcony
