I need the advice of my experts here!

It looks like the room-only discounts are going to be released on Monday. Our plan is to return to the World again - we're arriving at the Poly on Thurs! - in late August (I'm forgetting the exact dates but something like 8/27-9/3). My kids are insisting on BC for that trip. Last year we stayed in a 1 bedroom villa at BCV with a 40% room discount. This year Zachary will be 3 so that's out. Which brings me to my question: What room category to pick? Regular room? CL room? Deluxe CL room? 2 bedroom villa? How much more would you pay for more space? We tend to spend time in the room since e kiddos are still young. Obviously we'll be somewhat limited based on which rooms are discounted. Villas tend to get up to 45% discounts as opposed to 40% for rooms at deluxe hotels.

Thanks!
Amanda

I'd go with a two bedroom villa as my first choice. You're not going to be real comfortable in a regular room, whether it be a regular room non club level or a regular room club level (same sizes). The deluxe CL room is bigger but you may be able to get a two bedroom villa for the same price and although you won't be getting all the free food and drinks, you'll have ALL that extra room and the washer/dryer. If I remember correctly, you really enjoyed the one bedroom and just think of that with another bedroom and another BATH!!!! You stayed in a regular room at the YC so you know what size we are talking about. Would your family be comfortable in a regular sized room?

Is there a room map of the Yacht Club (standard/GV/WV rm locations?)

I haven't seen one and I looked at work today so I'd guess no, nor is there one for the BC. The new categories just started today. Before today it was only standard and water.

Are standard only parking lot views or front entrance views? What about a request for first floor standard view? Are there any standards available and what would the view be?

It says right on the new 2011 rate sheet that I looked at today that standard rooms are "roof or parking lot views". So, I would guess there are very few first floor standard rooms and if there is one, it is going to face a parking lot. If it faces woods, it would be a garden view.

You can definitely count on a standard view being ugly. However, there are people (myself included) that never look outside ... I'm only in the room to change clothes, shower or sleep and then the drapes are closed.

Keep in mind that a garden view is only a few dollars per night more (not per person - the room price total). I think most people are reporting $3-9 more per night depending on what package or deal they got. So for a 4 night stay it could be $12-36 more total or a 7 night stay could be $21 to 63 more total. I highly recommend if you care about the view at all, you should upgrade to a garden view! JMO

Thanks Teena for your thoughtful answer! I guess I'll wait and see which rooms have discounts available before I make a decision...

Checking in March 10 for 2 nights in a 2 bedroom villa. Have never tried BC but really excited to try and squeeze it all in before moving off site to accommodations we already had made.

Pixarmom, is there a list of march Disers staying? Teena, do you work there - I'll gladly pop by and say hi.

Super excited to get to the world!

You will love the Beach Club!!!

Pixarmom is keeping a Feb list, because that is when she is going. I don't think I've seen a March list started. Anyone want to volunteer?

Teena is a part-time greeter in the lobby of the Beach Club. The information she shares with us here is invaluable! She is a special gem and if she is working while you are there, you should definitely try to visit with her. She is really good about posting her schedule so her friends know when she will be working.

Here is the January 2011 Movie Schedule, according to Build a Better Mousetrip:

Beach Movie Schedule

Sunday Robin Hood
Monday AristoCats
Tuesday The Sword in the Stone
Wednesday Cool Runnings
Thursday Mulan
Friday Pinocchio
Saturday Sorcerer's Apprentice

I'm happy to keep a March list too! And since we're going in February, we can gather up-to-date info for March guests and report back.

So . . . who's going in March? :wizard:

Actually I just heard from my travel agent that the room-only discounts came out on Thurs. I saw something posted on the front page here at disboards about room-only discounts The Disney website does not show the discounts yet. We have APs and dislike the dining plan so room-only discounts are best for us! Supposedly you can call Disney reservations and get the discounts but I decided to just email my TA instead. :confused3

Hi everyone-

I tried starting at page 1 of this thread and looking for the answers to my questions as I read through pages 2-9... but I think if I continue this strategy, it will be time to leave on our March trip and I won't be finished reading! ;)

My family of 4 is staying at BC at the end of March. We haven't stayed there before but during our last trip in Dec '07 we liked the look of BC and really enjoyed Cape May Café. I just have a couple of questions about BC:

1. What is the best way to get to Future World from BC if we're using ME? If I understand correctly, there is no bus to the front of Epcot. Is it faster to walk through from the back? Take a cab to the front?

2. Do all rooms have microwaves, or do we need to request one?

3. We have an ADR at Ohana. How can I find out the easiest way to get there (and to any other resort restaurants, for that matter)?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Karen

Hi Karen,

I will take a stab at a couple of your questions...not an expert.
We were at the YC in Nov. and walked to Epcot. There is that or the boat from the YC.

Based on my dd experience, it was quicker to take a taxi to restaurants at other resorts. That being said, you can take a bus to MK and then get the monorail to the Polynesian. You just need to make sure you plan plenty of time to do that. The taxis are about $15-20 but that does depend on where you are going. We did take the bus and monorail to GF for dinner one night.

Have fun!

Walking is definitely the quickest way to get from the Beach Club to Future World. The walk to say Soarin' is probably 15-20 minutes max.

Microwaves are available upon request, based on availability. Ask when you check in or give a call to housekeeping.

If it is an early morning (breakfast) ADR, I would recommend a cab, as eah7 did. Prices to the Contemporary and Poly are around $15 plus tip. Not sure of the cab price to Animal Kingdom. If the reservation is for dinner, then I would try to time it so I was in one of the theme parks before the meal.

Coming back from Animal Kingdom Lodge after dinner at Boma, we find that it is enjoyable to take the bus to either HS or EPCOT and enjoy an attraction or two before returning to our room. From the Poly, Contemporary or GF, you can take the monorail to EPCOT and walk through the park to return to the Beach Club.

Park Hopping is required to do this, though.

Hope this helps!

From one Karen to another: we were just at BC and loved it. It is definitely best to walk over to the International Gateway entrance at Epcot and make your way over to Future World. The entrance at IG is so pleasant and quick!

Getting to the other resorts really depends on the time, the people in your party, and your other plans for the day. If I had an ADR at Ohana, I would probably go to MK for a while (via the BC bus) and then take the monorail over to the Poly and then do the same thing on the return. It will give you a fun reason to ride the monorail. Or perhaps take a taxi one way.

Thanks for asking Pixarmom. Myself, DH, DD 11 and DD 14 and also DG. We are Disney veterans. Stayed at SSR for 10 nights a few years ago in a 2 bedroom and have stayed at most resorts except BW, BC and GF. We have always commented on SAB as we ride our family bike by it thinking how great it looks. We tend to enjoy the resorts more than the parks these days!

I hope your stay in Feb is wonderful and I'll make an effort to connect with Teena so I can see if she is in the days we are there.

We have both February and March lists - I'll update every few days as we hear from more Disers!
