I think you should skip O'Hanas the first night. After traveling all day and wanting to get unpacked and settled into your new resort, I suggest staying around there. I would eat at Cape May personally. I love it!!

Teena! Since I changed to BC yesterday I have been reading this thread
and looking at the pics and it seems you are quite famous! I think your
right about O'Hanas, we will be eating at Cape May for breakfast that week
but I hadn't thought of it for dinner. I have two daughters who have been
looking at the pics with me and they flipped when the saw SAB. I hope
it's warm enough to swim the first week in Dec. We hope to meet you.

counselormom~ I was going to suggest to you what I do on arrival night..we used to (when the kids where smaller) just hang around our resort, eat there and be ready to get up early the next day...or go to one of the monorail resorts and ride around...they loved it!! As they have gotten older, we grab a bus and head to DTD...it doesn't use up a park ticket and you can just soak up the disney atmosphere!! We eat somewhere there OOP and then we get a pin to start trading for the trip. This year, if we don't do DTD, we will hang around SAB and eat at Beaches and Cream, or the Captains Grill!! I don't remember if you were flying or driving..but we are flying in on a reaaaaaally early flight so we may be too wasted to head to DTD...that's just my 2 cents!! You will have fun doing anything once you get there!!

We usually spend our first night close to the resort. If you want to do the same, I would maybe get dinner at Epcot and stay for Illuminations and then leisurely walk back to your hotel taking in all the sights! I still would try to reschedule Ohana. We hadn't been there for a few years (mostly because our last visit there wasn't very good). However, we tried it again 2 weeks ago and we absolutely LOVED it. We loved it so much that we tried to get an ADR for the following night and all they had was a 9:30. We arrived a little bit earlier (around 8:45) and asked for a table with a view of the castle. We had a beautiful view of the castle and at 10:00 they dimmed the lights, piped in the music and watched the best fireworks I've seen in a long time (you can appreciate the fireworks much more at the Poly or Ohana than at the MK). Whichever way you choose, I think watching either Illuminations or Wishes (or whichever one they're doing when you go) would be a definite "wow" factor.

Great Advice, thank you. I was so proud to have gotten that ADR at Ohana
it is hard to give up, but I guess it will make someone elso happy when I
cancel. We are doing the Wishes Fireworks cruise one night and we have an
ADR for 1900 Park Fare another so I guess we will get our chance to see
Wishes. Your dinner at Ohana sounds amazing, what perfect timing! Illuminations sounds like the way to go for our first night.:thumbsup2

Geez...I wish I had posted before spending an hour trying to make heads or tails of that map LOL

I do know not to have too many requests. That being said, we HAVE to have 2 queen beds (2 adults + 2 adult kids) and my husband and I just can't sleep in a double. I feel like I should ask for '2 queen beds, full balcony'...we would prefer a higher floor but I don't want to push my luck.

Thanks :thumbsup2

We don't have double beds anymore. So you can remove the two queen beds on your request. All rooms except the second bedroom in the Presidential Suite have queen beds or king beds.

Ok. I decided I'll never catch up;) Sorry to everyone for missing the meet. I was SO sad. The first 24 hrs of our BWV stay was a disaster and we did not have access to our room again until 5:00 on the 8th. We ended up arriving at Ohanas 1 hour past our reservation time. Luckily, they were still able to seat us.
We have all agreed that no more BW and its back to BCV next trip.

Teena; I requested the front desk leave you a message that I would be unable to attend. Did you receive it?

Yes they gave it to me. You were definitely missed!!! But thank you so much for organizing it!

Hooray! I just got an e-mail letting me know a CL room opened up for our 1st night!!! Now I don't have to switch rooms after 1 night.

Isn't it amazing when pixie dust strikes!!! Just like the airlines, people cancel all the time. We had half the back office checking those numbers every 5 minutes for the past week!

Thanks for the suggestions, I hadn't thought about mini golf.

I hope you get all the reservations you want, Teppan Edo sounds great!

Teppan Edo is one of my favorites. I have to get over to that food store at Japan too soon. They have Masa's Ginger-Soy Dressing & Marinade there and I love it on rice and can't buy it anywhere else. If anybody is over there this week, pick me up a bottle and I'll pay you back!!!! I'm just about out and I know I can't get over there probably until mid to late September.

Don't you love those noodles you get with your meal there? So good! I love the Filet ... so yummy and the chocolate ginger cake is wonderful! Darn ... now I'm hungry and it's only 10 AM!

I'm sorry, I know there was something about goggles being allowed at SAB, but I cannot remember if they are just the eye goggles, or include the mask type that covers the nose?? :confused3 Have to start packing! TIA!

I finally have a day off. I'm soaking my feet off and on all day and catching up on wash and my tivo tv shows.

Looking forward to meeting everybody this weekend. I'll be training the new full time greeter Saturday afternoon, all day Sunday and all day Monday. Then I'm off to Jeanne's and when I get back, I'll be back to my two days a week (not sure what those two days are yet - either Saturday and Sunday or Sunday and Monday probably).

I hope everybody has a safe trip to WDW and I'll see you all soon!!!!

P.S. I'll be home the next four days and will hopefully be able to answer your questions quicker now that I'm not working so much.

I may be mistaken, but I think that eye goggles are ok both in the pool and on the Jib slide, but the lifeguards don't allow a full face mask on the slide. Does that sound familiar to anyone?

My son did wear regular eye goggles when he went down the slide.

Teena, you are so right about "pixe dust" I am so thrilled that the "pixies" in the back office were able to find a cancellation for me. Jim is going to be so surprised. I am trying to decided what to have in room dining do for a surprise for him. He loves chocolate covered strawberries, so that is probably what I will go with. Can't wait to get there. Off to finish packing.

I called back this morning and there were a couple more options - BC/YC area is still booked for our 1st night - this was our original resort we selected back in July.... DS really wants to try out SAB....

Options without moving:

Contemporary - main tower lake view (2 beds)
Poly - garden view (2 beds + day bed)
WL - woods view (2 beds)
AKV - Kidani village deluxe savanah (bed + pull out) or 1 bedroom standard view (bed + pullout + sleep chair)

Option with moving:
BWV one night (1 bed villa); YC for 2 nights

As this is a short trip the price is not a factor.

Still trying to figure out the most relaxing place to stay..... MK evening fireworks are important (may buy a 1 day pass for this or watch from a monorail hotel). Also plan on time at DTD for shopping. Other than that I want to relax and just enjoy soaking up the Disney magic.... We really need that this trip. Any advise would be highly appreciated!

Short trip, light packing, go with the BWV / YC option. They move the luggage for you, just don't unpack on first day. You get to enjoy the area as well as your son gets SAB for two days. Can't go wrong with that. Just meander over to a bench on the Boardwalk and watch the action as it goes by. With your goal to be totally relaxed and no park visits, I think you've got your answer!

My second vote would be the AKL - Kidani village with the savanah view option. One bad thing about AKL though is that it is so darn far away from everything. One of the great things about AKL is Jiko's. I'd eat there every night if I could afford it.

Hi Teena!

Sorry we couldn't meet you. I will definitely meet you on our next visit in February! LOL! I did meet Jennifer and told her about you! I'm not sure if she told you or not. Jennifer was amazing (just like you), so much so I wanted to get her a little thank you gift! I bought her a little coach zipper change purse. I told her she could exchange it if she didn't like it. But she said she did! Looking forward to our meet in February.:goodvibes

We are booked in March of 2011 for Spring Break. I am curious to know how far of a walk it is from BCV to Boardwalk?

It's not far at all. Maybe a 5 to 10 minute walk, depending on how leisurely your pace.

It's so today I've switched to the BC CL for next November (ages away but at least I can look forward to it).

Lol i'm with you on the ages away!! I book Thanksgiving week 2011 today!!! We are so excited DD and I. We have never stayed at Y/B Club before and are staying there in October. I just know that DD and I are going to love it so I booked it for November 2011 (hope we love it in October now)!!

Welcome back Robyn!! Glad your family had a great trip! A few bumps are ok when your at the happiest place in the world!!

~Nannette

It's good to know I'm not the only advance booker lol :goodvibes That's so great you're going this October too though.

Just wanted to say I was able to switch today from a standard view room at BC to a DVC studio with the AP rates . This is what we really wanted as we are DVC members and have thought about getting points at BC eventually. We were mainly trying the resort out, just make sure we liked it.

I know I know- how could we not. But we thought we'd love the Contemporary too and when we tried that last year, we were over and done with it. Somehow I have a feeling BC will NOT end up like that with us. :goodvibes

I'm also happy to hear about the key card checking for SAB...that sounds great to me. We were at AKL a couple of years ago and a family with coolers, toys and more had taken over a big part of the pool and area. I later overheard they didn't like the pool at the All Stars so they came over for the day. I'm still kicking myself for not saying anything to the hotel. I'm sure SAB would be easily overrun with checking hotel cards.

Thank-you SOOOOO much! Now my only request is a full balcony ;)
